For my own conscious I must comment, as the writer of story #2, teaching is definitely much harder than running a WoW guild! But I will say a ton of skills I learned via running the guild made the behavior management skills I learned in a college classroom feel either out of touch or redundant. Managing adult’s behavior vs managing children’s behavior is the real debate. Thanks to everyone who enjoyed the story (on here and Twitch)!

My guild started a community. So anytime we came across an amazing player we'd invite them to the community. Don't have to transfer, leave guilds, apply, etc etc... Then anytime we need an extra tank/healer/dps we just check the community. If they hang with us a bunch usually we end up inviting them to the guild. But yeah... works pretty well :)

i love pugs too, im a 31yr old dad of 2 small kids so i can only play for 2 hours a day or so. So i have 5 level 60s aroubd ilvl 190-210, all i do is mythic+ pugs and CN Normal/HC pugs and i dont care if thet go well or not. The entertainment of a bad pug is just as fun as getting new gear.

That last story proves why being an ignorant meta slave is so detrimental - it simply blinds you to obvious answers about why you're actually struggling in dungeons. I see that especially when it come to praising fire mages and acting like fire mages and boomkins should be the only DPS classes allowed into M+ keys. The reality is that fire mages offer great damage, but the gap isn't wide enough to matter in your typical keys (10-16/17) and you would be much better served with adding more utility like a warlock's healthstones, a deathknight's anti-magic zone etc.

Wrong. Best set up is... DH Tank, 2 moonkins, fire mage and a disc priest that uses PI on the mage during combust. Anything other than that is wrong. Druids job, aoe, off-heal with wild growth and rejuvenate ppl and use trees so the DH CDs are even more broken. Mage, dps. Disc priest, PI the mage during combust. DH, do DH things and supply your insane dps with 5% more dmg. Other things work, but that’s the perfect comp.

RE: The part where you're talking about heroic raids PUGing and recruiting? That's how my raid got put together in Legion. There were about 6 or 7 of us who got back into the game and wanted to raid. We used the group finder. Put in our current progress, raid time, so people knew what to expect, and people joined. At the end of the raid, we would say when we were going to raid again, friend request the raid leader if you want in next time. It took until half way through Nighthold to get a solid base.

PI can be a real pain, had to leave one guild because I put everything into my gear yet they allowed slackers to jerk each other off with PI so I never saw it despite asking. They were literally that desperate to get up on meters and still couldnt beat me lol. at that point you just say "im above these guys". It's triggering because in the right hands I would always actively check the meters and go with most deserving.. but when cliques are formed this happens

On behalf of the actual high M+ community, I'd like to apologise for the type of muppets you apparently see being 'elitist' in the 12-15 key range. When my group does some alt weekly 15 keys and brings in a pug, we usually bring an off meta class to give them a fair shot. As an aside to that, we don't give a fuck what they do or what talents they take, because 4 competent, organised players on alts can easily carry a 15 as long as the fifth isn't ninja pulling entire wings of the dungeon. We're also just there for a bit of fun, and in any case a good group communicates effectively- they'd definitely be open to discussion regarding PI targets, if you could make a case, because good players actively look for ways to improve the group's speed, even if it sacrifices personal damage. I guess my tldr is: if someone is getting mad at you for the choices you make in a key, that means: 1- this key is serious content to them, no latter how much they might protest they're too good for it. 2- despite thinking this content is easy, the player isn't good enough to 'carry' it 3- they're too busy looking for minor problems with everyone else's play to focus on improving their own play. If you're wiping in 12s, the problem is big ticket stuff like not knowing mechanics and missing every interrupt, not who PI went on lmao. If you're hard walled at low level content, focus on your own play because often the advice you want to give out isn't right in any case ✌️

I've had fantastic luck pugging heroic with guild groups. My guild's raid team fell apart immediately after killing Denathrius since one of our tanks quit. The very next week I starting in on the group finder looking for other ways to get my weekly heroic clear and found 2 excellent groups to run with on subsequent weeks. Always go with a guild group.

I've pugged KSM 2 seasons in a row and 9/10 groups aren't toxic at all. Like hardly anybody in the 15+ bracket will even say anything in a run. Like unless you're playing a MW monk your chances to be invited are high as long as you have runs completed. You just have to climb the bracket +10 done of every dungeon and then spam keys up to +15, the hardest +15 is always the first one.

Like nobody doing M+ gives a fuck about your raid prog, because it means nothing in the content you're signing up for. That'd be like taking someone with insane io to your mythic raid who has never set foot in the raid that season. Also you're playing a blessed class, just go as Tank DH and you'll get invited easily.

Somehow the tryhard shitters that get carried through the game think extra health and damage of enemies is indicative of mechanical knowledge and prowess 🥴

@@zomgpeoplestolemname Pretty sure being 8/10 or 10/10 mythic and high ilvl means you didn't get carried through content which then implies you have a basic understanding of mechanics, how to follow them and how to avoid swirlies on the ground and that you likely have enough damage to complete a damn 15. We're talking about 12-15s here not 20-25s. I've spent 2-3 hours on a Sunday signing up for key after key to get my weekly done because our guild tanks decided to take a week off. In the end, I just gave up and didn't get a +15 done that week.

Before item level it was gear score. Before gear score it was going to the bank steps to get inspected. There’s always a metric. I do agree though. Them making pi the way it is is a problem. Normal guild runs are the absolute worst, in my experience. Most people don't know the mechanics, don't do them when they've been explained, and don't do even close to sufficient damage or healing. N Nyalotha was incredibly difficult, honestly harder than H Nyalotha and harder than first few bosses of Mythic. It's fine if people aren't good at the game, but those groups are not for me at all.

I'm 6/10M myself and done like 10 keys max above 12-13 (across 2 characters) because I just can't be asked. I fucking hate M+ and the IO score that comes with it. This addon single-handedly ruined M+ for me. It doesn't say shit if I have 500 or 1500 RIO. It just goes to show how much I played, and by that, how much M+ I played. I'm a raider not a M+ runner. And since I still perform way above average during raid nights compared to the other raiders that really DO M+ I couldn't care less.

Playing your class well is not enough to walk into content you aren't doing on regular basis and be good in it, unless the other people make up for your inexperience. And it's perfectly fair for them to expect you to be on par with them to invite you. Dungeons haven't been aoe fests + tank n spank bosses for like 10 years now. Your performance in raids doesn't matter for m+.

(1k is basically all 12s intime and some 13s) and If that Guy has a lot of mythic Kills, He probably has higher dps than average and a lower chance of being boosted than average. When we had almost equal ppl early in the season and i saw them being 10/10 hc first week... Invite them for gods sake. Also seems, that my strat worked, as i pugged up to 2.4k as a priest... Apart from that i dont expect dps in a 12 to Play mechanics... The Part, where dps are learning about mechanics in Dungeons, is, when they get killed by them. Not happening in +12. You can still blame the healer.

and here i am here with my io around 900 and getting into +12-14 on 3 alts. its all matter of spaming for groups over and over again . why its not higher ? answer is very simple since i do only 4 dungeons a week its growing extremly slow :) which is ok since all i need is 226/223 from weekly . just this week did +14 ToP (in time) on my meme spec frost mage that has like 700 io. you know why people are declined ? because they only apply to groups that have like tank+heal + 2 dps already. instead apply to those 1 dps or heal + dps groups.

Stupidest part of the last story is they also had a holy priest. They have PI too. BOTH boomie and Spriest could have had PI thus avoiding this whole problem.
