@@charlottebailey1024 Yes it can take a little while to realize who they are. They actually appear in a few others videos, but they were actually 2 parts of the music production company fifgen that filmed a number of Home Free's early videos around the time they started The Hound + The Fox.

A little snippet - that trumpet sound that Tim does at the beginning, the first time they performed this live, he said that he had just been playing around in the studio, and forgot he'd have to do it in front of an audience... He hesitated a bit, but then nailed it first time. The others have already told you about the Hound and the Fox, a lovely couple with very sweet music. Home Free are definitely fans of Ed Sheeran - they also did a great version of Castle on the Hill. I really love the live version, where Tim explains how they use a loop station live on stage to add some extra background, it would be wonderful if you could react to that.

I absolutely agree with you about everything you said about chord progressions and how so many songs sounding similar. I csn’t imagine how many “waste of time’ lawsuits” have been filed over the decades because of that issue. I didn’t take music theory or anything, but I know what you mean. As far as this video is concerned, I loved your reaction aftwards!! lol I just saw them in Texas over a week ago and they are such professionals at what they do!! They’re so precise, even live!! I hope you get the opportunity to see them live. They are phenominal! It is an experience that you never forget. Just for something different, you might like to check out Home Free singing “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables. They used to do this after Adam’s beatbox solo to give him a break. Austin is singing the lead. He does have a serious background if classical and musical theater. He worked very hard to sing without his southern Georgia accent. When he joined Home Free as country group, Tim said “all that went right out the window”! Here is a link. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHLEo6V7n5miqJo

I don't really follow Ed Sheeran, but I do know that song and it doesn't have anything that would make me think he ripped it directly off. That's a very popular blues progression and gets used a lot especially in older motown stuff. That's why a lot of it's easy to play at an open jam. Any popular progression, a good musician will pick up and it still fits the vocal. just FYI for anyone stopping through :)

Love your reactions, and I love Home Free. As for people stealing music, there are a finite number of chords, and of course the combinations there of are going to end up being duplicated or be similar. Doesn't mean there is a plan to copy, but we always have bits of tunes (or art, or designs) stuck in our heads, so a bit of it seeping into our creations is inevitable. There is a difference between blatantly taking something and claiming it as their own. But it is true these two songs do blend and fit very nicely. :)

Great reaction, Drama! "FIRE, FIRE, FIRE" with the perfect look on your face as you said it. I totally agree, it is OK to "cover" because you have the integrity to ask for permission and/or state you are covering such & such band. I feel this is most certainly applicable when it pretty much word for word & note for note. But when music just sounds similar how in the HELL do you say it is stealing? Like you said chords & notes WILL ALWAYS sound the same no matter who plays them. And there are only a finite number of notes & chords to be played, so you WILL get similarity. Loved your passion on this topic. A lot of people will hear what they want to hear when listening to someone & selectively "miss" the key words of meaning in a statement.

Whether or not you react to it, I think you might enjoy watching and listening to the the "pair" for this video, by The Hound + The Fox (Reilly and Mckenzie Zamber, who also were FifGen Films, which produced Home Free's video). In the description to their own video, filmed as the preparation for a date, they acknowledge this video from Home Free, as they continued their roles as the soon-to-be-out-on-a-date couple into the couple actually out on the date in the Home Free video. Reilly and McKenzie still collaborate (now that they are recording artists on their own) with the members of Home Free on many special videos. You can check out those, on The Hound + The Fox's KZbin Channel. "Thinking Out Loud" (Ed Sheeran Cover, by The Hound + The Fox) kzbin.info/www/bejne/majKdmSNo7yHhZI The Hound + The Fox's KZbin Channel kzbin.info/door/jdbqDJRNJeDUKcJGjpn3Aw As for your reaction and the explanation about words, melodies, and music in general, you are ABSOLUTELY right, all the way around! "We gell" 👏 As a classically trained singer and having study theory, I totally understand and agree. I personally also like metal and heavy metal because the instrumentation is deeply seated in classical chord progressions, riffs, motifs, and ABA format. It makes "sense" to my ears. Good theory explains why composers and song writers use common motifs and progressions. In the end, music is all numbers and just like there are correct math equations, there are correct music equations. Music "equations" that are incorrect are non enjoyable to listen to, have awkward transitions, and to put in bluntly- aren't memorable. As far as Eminem (whose musicality I appreciate), I can tell you there are classical motifs and riffs that he uses. As far as Ed Sheeran, he is using classical blues chord progressions and motifs. I LOATHE when non musicians try to go beyond music appreciation and start "critquing" music. That's like someone who can only cook stove top mac and cheese going into a 5 star restaurant and saying the pasta is undercooked (because it isn't mushy.) 🙄 Nice reaction as always! You tell "em! ☺️

I love when people hear what they want to hear. NOT! I wish people would listen better, but they don't. Drives me nuts. Yes, a lot of music can sound similar, but that doesn't meant they "stole" it. It means they were inspired by it. I never heard you say Elvis stole music, but I did hear that you said other people told you that. Hearing....some people hear well and other's hear what they want. Great reaction and loved this one.
