Man, you could tell Lucifer really wanted to be there more for Charlie. Based on that short clip, Lilith must've had a lot more power over their relationship more than anything so he had to distance himself from her.

Whatever happened i want to say that Lilith didn't leave like nothing, vivziepop said that Lucifer and her were/are truly in love, you can see it on his face he misses her so much. So her leaving/disappearing must have been either not by her choice or she made a super hard and tough decision to do so. Afterall according to episode 1 Lilith took charge of hell and all its habitantes her people, she wouldn't in anyway want extermination. So yeah she left to do something and it was extremely hard on her or she left not by choice, thats my thought at least

Also would explain why she and Lucifer seem to drift away, he tried was shot down, he just accepted and gave up. Lilith probably didn't want to accepted it and probably tried/is trying to help her people

Or for all we know, Lilith was protecting both of them by limiting their time together. Lucifer may have been able to handle it in small doses, able to motivate himself enough to entertain her and show some affection, but not for long periods of time. Remember that we are dealing with a deeply broken man. It's played for laughs in his intro scene, "take that, depression!" etc... But Lucifer withdrew, isolated himself, and was likely not in the mental or emotional space to be an actively present father. Lilith protected him and gave him space and time by taking over the running of Hell. She may have protected him and Charlie both by allowing small times together but not letting her see the extent of her father's grief and depression.
