A beautiful drawing, demonstrated and narrated with skill and care, very enlightening to learn the careful considerations that go into your magnificent architectural watercolours! Thank you for your generous sharing. 🙏.

The care and attention that you pay to explaining aspects of the drawing process, including balancing areas of the picture in terms of tone, connectivity of the parts, and especially 'compositional notes' that would otherwise be anonymous to amateurs like me, is priceless. In addition you are a wonderfully entertaining tutor to listen to, and regrettably many are not, for which I can only offer an enormous and sincere 'thank you'.

I found this to be mesmerizing! I might try this for The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. My great grandfather was the architectural engineer and I have always wanted to paint it, but my skills just aren’t there yet. Thank you for the inspiration!! I am a great admirer of your work!

Wonderful drawing. I noticed you sharpened the pencil quite often. Did you use the manual point shaper or the battery sharpener?
@thomaswschaller

Yes. The graphite is quite soft so wears down quickly, I use the pointer for the mechanical pencil only in which I have an HB lead. I use the sharpener when I use the Blackwing wooden sketch pencils

You mentioned that this paper had some texture and that you liked that in working with values. I can definitely see it picking up a specific pattern ..or texture ..and I’m wondering if that interferes with the drawing at times? I don’t think every paper has the same pattern of texture, so I’m wondering if there is perhaps one specific watercolor paper that seems to work better for you than another…when you’re looking for uses to get tonal values?

Thanks Judy . I like to work with the texture. If there is too much, it may get in the way - but I think a bit of texture can improve the overall effect

@@thomaswschallerI found some online sites demonstrating Samuel Chamberlain’s etchings…you had mentioned his works…I’m just blown away by them. I am studying a few of them just to try and learn from his drawings. They are just magnificent …as are yours I might say!
