True words Dustbringer. I haven't drawn from High School 20 years ago but now Jazza gave me the confidence to draw anything. People are amazed to see what I draw now. Give Thanks gain.

While I'm not big on drawing in the more "Americanized" style of cartooning much like you, I still find your tutorials overall a great help in combination with the classes that I take and the people around me at school. Just watching your videos not only helps me when I am drawing, but it motivates me to pick the pencil up and get to work on something. At this point I spend my lunch breaks at work drawing something instead of planting my face in the gameboy.

These are amazing secrets you're sharing with us Jazza. I've studied animation (as much as I could between 2 jobs) for 5 years now. Countless books and video tutorials and I've gotten very close to being able to make my first series. These videos are the juicy secrets, or rather roadblocks I've been hitting for the last couple years. You just don't get this in books and videos, at least mine. Thanks man! You truly are helping me make my dream of making a living off making my cartoons come true!
@Dustbringer11 жыл бұрын
Dude, I've never been good at drawing nor interested in doing it. My whole art work is limited to the last few pages of my notebooks from school. The fact that your videos sometimes make me want to just grab pencil and paper and start drawing stuff says a lot. So in conclusion -> you, mate, are awesome and so are your videos! Keep on doing what you're doing. Job well done once again : )

Honestly, i am not even sure if you can use it in English, in my native language, we generalize it. I didn't fail at drawing a circle but i failed at "draw a circle", meaning the point on the list. With a lot of the more difficult angles, like that upturned one you had some trouble with, what I find works best is to use more basic views as a structure guide--for the upturned head I might take a head in profile, rotate it some amount, and then use that as a reference for how things sit, how the jaw slopes, the chin protrudes, that sort of thing, when it's tilted. It's probably more useful in projects where heads are going to be reused but whatever.

It's the same with me, symmetry is my biggest weakness. But every tutorial I have watched from many different types of artists have said front profile is the easiest whereas 3/4th is the most difficult. I have problems with side/profile merely because of the lips, I can't get the right shape so that it looks like lips. Otherwise it looks like the character has an overbite or a very long top lip XD

The cranium (brainbox) tends to be deeper from back to front than from top to bottom. An ellipse, or oval, is a better shape to start with than a circle. Your skull, particularly in the profile drawing, is perhaps a little shallow because you started with a circle...
