Thank you so much for this tutorial. Such a pleasure to watch you work and listen to your commentary. I am signed up to your alerts of new artwork and am constantly amazed at the speed with which you produce such accomplished work. I’m far too slow and this frequently leads to overworking. Thanks again for your valuable insights.

Thanks so much . But we all work at our own pace and that’s ok . Faster isn’t always better . But overworking is a concern for us all

I’m so thankful for these videos. I’ve never been able to take an in person workshop with you….however I was fortunate to take 3 or 4 online during Covid . I thoroughly enjoyed every minute and learned so much. Thank you for sharing these with the world, so kind and generous of you.

You're very welcome Lena - I know that everyone can't afford the time or expense, or handle the travel for live teaching sessions. So I hope to offer more here

Thank you, Thomas. Watching this and listening to your story, about Belvedere Castle, on a hot steamy (after rain) Sunday afternoon in Australia, I was transported as if by magic to NY Central Park in winter 😊

You are the only person I know who has the same "old fashioned" lead pointer as I have! I got all excited when you pulled it out. It is and always has been my very favorite art supply.

Thomas you are one of the most eloquent persons I have ever had the good fortune to listen too.! I am captivated with your detailed explanations of your intent, and how you develop from there in a deliberate and descriptive manner which I find quite fascinating., and very informative. It’s really changed the way I approach my own attempts at drawing.

I agree with so much of what you said, drawing or making art technically perfect or realistic is not all that there is to art. Many a times people think the goal is to make it look real and perfect and that is so FAR from the truth. I had a very good drawing teacher at art school, but exactly she is the reason why I do not enjoy drawing much anymore, bc she was only focus on perfectionism and accuracy and I learned a great deal and have drawings that are great, but it did not teach me to be expressive, to communicate something deeper than simply copying reality perfectly and using my materials in the most careful and purist way, that is hinders to this day my desire to draw. I love your drawing, it tell something to my soul, but if she saw your drawing tools, tricks, handling of the pencil, the strokes, etc. the oh, boy, she would not approve at all. See, then this soul full piece would not be here, bc of her, and that is a great LOSS to all, specially to the artist herself. Getting lost into technical, perfectionism and realism is not the goal of any art piece, that is not the way to art, that is only the way to learn some drawing basics, but expressing something through a drawing, that is ART and that it‘s not something that technical perfectionism brings, but actually it hinders it.

Techniques and materials are interesting and useful - but only tools to help make art possible. Art itself is inside of us and however we manage to find it and express it can be different for us all
