Part 3 of my pride month series where I'm drawing LGBTQ+ characters! I know it’s not pride month anymore, but I really wanted to finish this series anyway! So enjoy this video and expect another soon ^w^

I personally am not Aromantic or Asexual, but I do believe that people who are don't get enough rep. I feel like a lot of show/movies do this because their just HAS TO BE A LOVE INTERST FOR EVERY MAIN CHARECTER (not saying it's bad or anything just kinda annoying sometimes). It's also why I think the people who are Aro/Asexual are usually side characters. I do agree with you about Saiki K. I feel like he is a great way to show people that main characters/characters in general don't always NEED a love interest. A story can still be good without the main cast being in romantic/sexual relationships with each other. just saying. o_0

Omg the way you described how your experience attraction is exactly what I experienced :O The girls always sideeyed me when I said "i have no type" and never a crush on any actor or character. When I thought about all the people I found attractive, it I didn't find any of them attractive based on looks or stuff. It mostly was their character and values that drew me to them and I started to find them attractive as a person - as a whole so to speak. Ngl I really wish for one of those badass and savage characters as a show lead, but they don't end up in x romances and one nightstands, but just don't give a damn if they could get the boy/girl

Yesss exactly! When my friends in college told me how they experience attraction I was like 😅😃🤔😨 WHATT 😂😂😂 And I realized all but like one of the so-called "crushes" I had growing up were just me thinking people were cool or really nice and thus wanting to be friends/closer with them, definitely NOT a crush lmaoo 🤯 I do believe I experience romantic attraction, but it's clearly very different than most (likely because of the whole ace/panromantic thing and since I'm autistic lol) And I agree!! I wish we could have more characters and shows like that too 😞😞 The fandom would probably ruin it anyway, but it would be so cool

One thing to point out as an aro ace person, I don’t think it’s wrong to like ships that go against a cannon orientation. Generally it’s not because someone wants to erase the rep, but because they like the way the characters interact. It’s a problem if someone is going “I like this ship and they can’t possibly be aroace” it’s fine imo if in a fan piece you want to explore dynamics in a way that goes against cannon, that what aus are for.

i dislike it because the sexuality is completely disregarded. if it was a few ship posts that would be tolerable but if i go into a fandom and there are like 3 posts about the character's aroaceness and a million about shipping them then its annoying. its the exact same as shipping a lesbian with a man, its just weird to me and erases rep.

@@chriscintron3320 I agree, but as pointed out in the video, there’s a weird amount of harassment and overarching personhood claims thrown at these people. I thinks it’s annoying, but ultimately fine (as I said it reflects a real life trend, and that is unfortunate) but I don’t think policing fan pieces that don’t directly cause harm, will do any good.

A game I love called In Stars and Time has some great ace representation (along with other lgbtqia+ ). It takes place in a fantasy world where a king is freezing the country in time and you're following a group that are going to stop but the main charactet gets stuck in a time loop

As an Ace Hazbin fan myself, I love the idea of Alastor's ships being viewed one-way or platonic. However, I have read takes from every side of the umbrella. Life's too short to be harassing others over shipping. Al's not real, he's not going to get mad at fans for interpretting his interactions in whatever way we like. Love the rep, and as long as fans aren't infantilizing him for his identity, I'm all for the ships.

That's where I'm at too. I'm fine with people shipping him with folks, but it doesn't feel right to make it sexual. Canonically he IS ace, and that alone makes it a gray area. Also, I’m going to confess something, I was a really big anti ship Alastor person at the time, but overtime I kind of realize that… why would I want a psychopath to represent me but also it’s not really any of my concern, as long as no one is forcing me to feel this way, then why am I even hating in the first place? I feel like it was mainly just because I see a lot of characters that represent me and media, and to see Fandoms ruin it by constantly sexualizing or romanticizing them made me feel unhappy because it reminds me that I am not really valid within most communities (- -;)

I agree what you said about alastor mostly but it really isn't down to "personal perspective" because in the past faust (i can't spell their full name 😭) has stated over and over Alastor is AroAce and the creators are just too scared to say it. Aswell as when Vivziepop was asked this question she gave the really weird answer of "i don't want to say because i don't want to trample shipping" which many interpret as a light conformation. Yeah, I think they're writing him with the idea that he's aroace in mind, but don't wanna ruin the "fun" or anything. And I saw that they quote-unquote "retconned" what Faust said after they left the team too :/ I kinda wish they'd just make it official that he's aroace cause it feels odd they'd write him that way, but not say it's canon 🤔 Plus, aroace people deserve more love and representation, so it's sad.. almost like the crew is trying to protect themselves from losing viewers or hate or something - thinking of themselves and the shippers instead of their aro+ace viewers, which Alastor SHOULD be for 😓😓 but alas.. I did end up going with him being ace in the vid just because that's the portion that's "officially" canon instead of just implied. I even personally believe he's aroace as well 🤔 but I decided to stick to him being ace. I also thought it would be a good to talk about the toxic ways people attack shippers because I understand the frustration of seeing him in a romantic relationship, but I don't see why people have to be so hateful and aggressive (or passive aggressive) about it all. Just let people like what they like 😞😞😞 Anyway, it's really hard when a creator or team is so ambiguous and confusing cause it causes a lot of problems for viewers :/ Either way though, I really appreciate this comment. @@cudalynns ships don't really bother me unless they're using them to sexualise alastor or if they're claiming he couldn't be aroace because "he works so well with ___!" I really wish they would confirm it too, it's causing so much unnecessary drama in the community. More than just saying he's aro would in my opinion I appreciate you drawing him only with the ace flag too. I drew him with the ace and aro flag for pride last year and the only thing people in the comments wanted to talk about was his sexuality and it made my comments section a huge argument. Nobody was talking about the characters I just spent hours drawing 😭😭 Aswell as Saiki being Aroace many say hes Trans too. Which would make me and him matching perfectly lol. He's so real for immediately switching his gender when he was born. Whenever I'm down saiki k is one of the only shows that can make me feel less shitty again so I'm happy someone else shares that same place in their heart for it. Alot of drawings of him depict him with other expressions alot which isn't a bad thing but it's nice to see his iconic flat face

I totally accept and understand the Asexual Peridot headcanon/canon, but I don’t agree that her reaction to fusion is a clue/reason for it. Fusion isn’t just a sex allegory, it’s meant to represent any deep or significant bond between two individuals- it can be romantic (Garnet), familial (Steven+any crystal gem), somewhat platonic (Stevonni at first), etc.

@@caracaracat2958 I personally agree with you, fusion is simply an intimate thing about trust and bonds, not anything sexual. But I remembered a lot of people in the fandom had asked whether or not she was ace, just BECAUSE of her reaction to Garnet's offer (though this was roughly S2 era fandom, so we didn't know a lot about fusion yet) And because of that, that scene came up as the only indicator of her being ace when I was doing my research for this vid. Probably shoulda just left that tidbit out in hindsight though, cause you're totally right. Sorry about that 🙏

I may not know anyone else who's gender pride like I am (Non-binary) but I still would like more gender pride to be known and shown both IRL and in media overall, even before I became Non-binary I still wanted more of gender pride to be shown.

Personally on the topic of shipping, I dislike shipping at its core. It’s toxic, and it usually leads to discourse and problematic behaviors in communities. This leads to my views on shipping queer characters; I dislike it, especially if there’s already a canon paring with any character, I dislike shipping. (Think Zelink being canon, and people shipping Sidlink, or Charlie being lesbian, and with vaggie- but shipping Charlie and Alastor) I especially dislike shipping confirmed Aro/ace characters, they already don’t get enough rep, and shipping them is basically a form of erasure.
