Hello, Peter! We have honey suckles where I live, and I love the way they smell and the way their nectar tastes even though I believe they’re technically invasive. They way we always get the nectar is to pinch the back of the flower until you reach what I think is called the “stigma.” Then pull backwards and as you pull, it’ll gather up all the nectar into a little drop you can plop right on your tongue.

Your childhood sounds amazing! No glowing screen in your faces in an air conditioned room, no fresh air, no exercise like these kids nowadays. Running around snacking on fruit you climbed a tree to pick. Laying on a cool concrete floor. How authentic and wholesome. This is why we love you Peter!

I was also born in Manila because my parents were missionaries. We left when I was seven. I remember the swarms of flying termites and how happy the bats would be eating their fill. In our yard we had bananas, coconuts, mangoes and my favorite, lanzones, which were sweet but ants loved them too, and I swallowed a few while eating them. The moths were huge, the frogs were loud and made foamy nests, and we ate fresh sugar cane as treats. I still enjoy champoy, dried salty/sweet plums with a bit of licorice flavoring. Did you try patis? Salty fish sauce on all the rice dishes. Yum. I have not been back either, but I think about it often.

Filipino people are the best! My first jobs workforce was 90% Filipino and listening to them was always a blast because when they talk and laugh you could just imagine them as Minions 😅 Super playful people, so full of life ☺️ Have you tried Sarsi? Not a huge fan of soda, and that one is pretty hard to find, but it has such an interesting flavor. You definitely gotta try it!

Pleasant Peter picked some perfect penning paper to produce a precisely pleasing performance in penmanship. 👍 Peter, my favorite food combination from childhood (and still to this day) sweet pickles dipped into mashed potatoes! Yum. 😂🤣 everyone thinks it's weird but I love it. A Thanksgiving favorite of mine which I am patiently awaiting and craving! Love the vibe and nostalgia of the topic. Also that nursery rhyme also drove me nuts as you pick the peppers before you pickle them unless he's picking the peppers post pickling as a peck can be measured in a bushel of about 8 to 10 pounds which translates to about 2 gallons as a wet measurement, but the rhyme is pretty much just mumbo jumbo. Like why would you sell sea shells at the sea shore? When there are plenty of free ones.

A peck of flour, prior to the 1800's, was equal to fourteen pounds of flour. Maybe they mean he picked 14 lbs. of pickled peppers. However, a peck nowadays is equal to 2.3 gallons, which would be 8-10 pounds. Thirdly, who gives a shit. Ha! Keep it coming Peter. You are one of a very few creators that I have turned all notifications on for.

Hi Peter! The "flying termites" you described sound like what we call "gamu-gamo" (gah-moo-gam-moh) and they're usually seen nearing/during rainy seasons here in the Philippines. They're attracted to light sources, so whenever many are present, we keep the windows and bottom slits on the doors sealed^^

Where I live up in the Pacific Northwest, we had a termite “bloom” this year as well. That’s not really what it’s called, they’re called nuptial flights, and there’s a lot of interesting stuff to do with it all, but yeah. That was fun. Lots of bugs. My friend took a bug zapper and ran around in the dark and you could just here them hitting it in droves. Then he chased me and zapped me with it too. I find it difficult to pick a favorite childhood food; my mother always cooked a lot, and it is all so good. Nothing like a home cooked meal.

Did you ever think about putting out an instructional video on rendering. I have a very similar drawing style .Of course you are 500 times better and you have a knack for seeing things in three dimension and using very limited hatches or rendering to accomplish that goal. My biggest problem is lighting and putting the hatches or rendering in correct spots .Could use some help on that.

Singcamas? spl? No, water chestnuts are small. You're thinking Jicama is what they are called here, in the States. I love guava too but I only ate them straight. I do miss living in the Philippines 🇵🇭 What? Papayas are awesome. We had a few too and banana trees. Yes, nectar from the flower...probably hibiscus but in not exactly sure, I remember that too. Yup, mango trees.. my favorite tree I climbed had small red fruits, but I forget what kind. Yep, we were up 2-3 stories high all the time. I guess we all climbed trees as kids in the Philippines. 😂 thank goodness I grew up there. Our neighbor had the star fruit. We had dwarf coconut trees also. Philippines is the best 👌 👍
