Re: Team Rocket stealing pokemon; iirc in the games they specify they're out to steal "powerful" pokemon from trainers. Basically they don't want to put in the work training their own (hence why they use common 'mons), and would rather steal leveled pokemon from other trainers.

I was looking for this cause I could've sworn there was a vaguely ok reason it's that way in the cartoon too. I believe it's why Meowth goes from being Giovanni's fav, being a special talking Meowth, but he wouldn't evolve so he got dropped.

@@nixand_brennt in the episode where Team Rocket is introduced (which I think is literally the second episode? don’t totally remember) Pikachu attacks them using the combined electricity of a ton of other Pikachus at the Pokemon Center Jessie and James are trying to break into - but since they couldn’t see the other Pikachus, I think they mistakenly think that Ash’s Pikachu is just ungodly powerful and have been chasing him ever since

honestly, I'd love to see them all try to tackle the ghibli style... it seems like it might be hard on Julia in terms of characters, because everyone is so soft and round in a lot of their shapes... but on the other hand, I could see her having a really fun time doing something with the kinds of environments that ghibli usually includes. and I feel like the character designs would be a real treat for someone like Jacob, who already tends toward those sort of soft shapes in his own art style.
