Yeah, I really like when people draw more real or not perfect faces and figures too. Seing different ages is also cool. It feels like there's love in such drawings. Love towards being who you are and towards life and people.

I have HUUUUGE body dymorphya and I draw too... I started to think... why I only drawn white people... then why do I only draw skinny people... then why only pretty people... It made feel bad because I'm none of those things, so I searched for people who aren't going get the praises like someone deemed as pretty by society... just like me! Your art is awesome, and I think this NEEDS to be discussed in the art community, because this is a something more serious than it looks.

There was a time when big noses and small lips were in. Beauty trends are ephemeral. And if you look closer most people are actually rather beautiful in their own way. And I'm not even talking about people being beautiful on the inside. It's just when we focus on one particularly kind of idealized beauty when forget that there's so much beauty all around anyway. And also, those "perfect" girls would look more real if they didn't all try to fit into a particular mold. It's not really them, it's another beauty ideal. (P.S. you're drawings were all very good and I think all of the people you drew were beautiful :)

Your art is absolutely beautiful. These people look alive, like they’re mid-movement, with so much personality! I’ve been in a creative rut recently and this is so inspiring to watch. Thank you 🥹

I really loved this video! And what you said in the description. I think if we can normalize drawing “regular” people we can take a big pressure off artists to create “perfect” or pretty looking art all the time and may also help people mentally in knowing that the Pinterest look isn’t actually the norm and that there is somethjng wrong with us if we don’t look like that. It’s especially important since a lot of us now spend time on the internet and are usually only faced with photos that are conventional. I really like that you chose to do a topic on this! Creating more art/giving more appreciation to “regular” appearances can change the environment of what we see daily on the internet which can help change our perception of what may actually be normal versus an unrealistic standard

yes! and also art is meant for all people not just the attractive/standard beauty

It's so fun to draw people who don't look really pretty and perfect. I love drawing bumpy noses and different jaw lines. I like drawing different porportioned people because it's different and it's fun and it really helps to be able to do that (I used to fight for my life against same face syndrome in my art then I just looked at people. Normal people. and now all my characters look different. They have different noses, mouth shapes, head shapes, eye shapes, because they are people or people adjacent). There is so much more beauty in drawing just people. Just normal people.

In march I drew a face every day and I had a lot of fun drawing old people with lots of wrinkles. It was so much fun to look at their photos, to see their whole life carved into their faces and to draw them. I searched for 100 year old people for example. Or once I drew an old turkish woman, who looked tired and serious. That was so interestng. I've also draw overweight people or people with a weird kind of style - that was also fun! Sometimes I see people on the train or bus, when I drive home from work and a few weeks ago I saw a man with a very serious face. His face looked carved and he looked like someone who has gone through hard times. I sat there and thought: "I want to draw this man right now!" Or once I saw a guy in a bus, who also looked like someone who had hard times in this life. They are not perfect beauties, but they are real and so they are interesting and also beautiful on another level.

I'm trying to move more towards painting portraits of people I know in real life, but not everyone is like, comfortable with that? Feels like I gotta build up some trust first, but would love to move away from drawing random internet people. These portraits looks fantastic! Made it looks so easy too :)
@ellensartworks8 ай бұрын
yeah if you're planing on putting the portraits out there, i think it's a good idea to ask if it's okay with them, but just drawing them is fine i think. but hey theres also a lot of photographers that takes random portraits of people in public and uploads them, so i dont think it's a huge deal if you find inspo in a stranger

@@ellensartworks yeah I think these would be works that I'd love to post or display in some way. At least be able to share them with the people they are of haha

There's nothing more boring or unimaginative than artist copying photos from the internet of pretty people. Sure, pretty people are easy on the eye, but not ALL the time. And reality isn't like that anyway. Most of us are just normal looking people. It's far more interesting to look at, most of the really great paintings through all time are of normal-looking people. Way better and more fun to draw, much more interesting to look at and you can be a lot more expressive in your approach to the work. Drawing pretty people is lazy imo.

I mean there's nothing wrong with drawing pretty people as well but I just like to balance it and also draw normal looking people and characters as well.

facts, I knew before clicking on the video that the artist will only draw white or east asian people. That's all they know how to draw.
