Drayton Manor NEW Coaster Update! Clearance Testing, Station Construction & MORE!

It's so good to see this at Drayton Manor. A few years back things were looking so bleak for the park that I never thought we'd be seeing new areas, new flats or new coasters ever again.

The first time the ride structure is fully assembled is when it is onsite at a theme park. There are some checks that can be done during construction, such as track to track alignment, track to column alignment etc. The pull through is not only for the clearance envelope. It is also for checking platform and catwalk clearance. Make sure electrical containment is clear of the wheels/vehicle. Check sensor, brake, friction wheel alignment. (Could also be LSM rotor to stator alignment or chain to chain dog alignment, anti-rollback (ARB) rack to ARB dog alignment) Check alignment for the station contacts for the lapbar release/checking system. More importantly it is to check the train can make it round without mechanical binding, (Vehicle to track or tightness in bends) especially if it has kingpin steering as the track bends need to be "gauged" to ensure the vehicles can go through. The theory is to have everything finished, so it is a little worrying the station isn't finished but the station is easy to do. @3:10 you will see a series of notches in the track cross ties. This is to ensure the brake blades clear the track. These have to be checked with the train moving slowly. There is a minimum clearance as they will have to allow for road wheel wear. Again @3:10, the envelope gauge in the rear seat looks bent, so it looks like the team have hit something (lol, not unusual. Probably a cherry picker, scaffolding or something in the wrong place) Pull throughs on large coasters can take a couple of weeks (Hyperia at Thorpe Park will take around a week to 10 days). I think something like Falcons Flight in Qiddiyah, Saudi might take 6 to 8 weeks because there are hundreds of LSM stators and it is flipping high in places.

Hi there guys, thank you so much for another great video. Got to be honest with you both, used to love Drayton Manor back in the day for the thrill rides, which obviously most have been removed, still got some but not as many as they used to have. I fully understand they need to cater for everyone but Alton Towers offers everything you want, thrills, spills and family attractions if you want them. Could be me guys but I feel Drayton Manor is heading down the family only route??

I'm still baffled as to why they got rid of the best ride at the park, Apocalypse. Drayton Manor is the park of my childhood days in the 80's. It really needs some serious coasters. I get the feeling they're going the way of more family friendly and away with white knuckle rides.
