I have tried every diet, starting at age 10 or maybe earlier! At 51 I finally realise those diets haven't made me happy, healthy or thin for very long. I've yo yo'd my way through life striving to be a size 10 and full of shame at size 16. Your book has come at the right time for me and I can't wait to work out the root cause and stop sticking a plaster (ie; diet) on what is so much deeper. Thank you (with tears pricking my eyes) I say that your non blame, loving approach to empower everyone to explore and learn the why. It's just beautiful and I'm sure it will change my life for the better ❤

I've just pre ordered your book. I'd NEVER normally buy a book with a title about losing weight (especially not in the new year diet industry frenzy!) but listening to your podcasts throughout the whole of this pandemic has been so helpful. I've bought books from quite a few of the guests you've interviewed and now I'm buying one of your books for the first time because, like so many people here have said, you're so genuine and non-judgemenal. Thanks Dr Chaterjee, I wish you were my Gp!

Much as I am an admirer and follower of you, Dr Chattergee, after a lifetime of knowing, deep down that weight gain was not entirely my fault, I have to say that we, the people who you re aiming at in your book, always distrust particularly slim doctors and dietitians, as they can’t possibly understand. They imagine that we are constantly stuffing food down our throats. Your example of eating mini choc bars starting around a month of sugar cravings. That is what happens to many of us but living in a house with other people makes it impossible to not go for the sugar once you have done it once or watched your house mates eating chocolate. Exactly the same as drinking alcohol - sugar highs are very very strong. This is why I live alone! The only answer!
@DrChatterjeeRangan3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynn, thanks for your honest feedback. I can assure you that I do not imagine people are always 'stuffing food down their throats' - in fact, that is one of the reasons for writing this new book - to help people understand that they can improve their health (and lose excess weight if they wish to) once they find the right approach for them. So many complexities to understand for each individual. Totally understand the mistrust though. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Rangan's explanation as to the subject of his new book is so powerful. Totally resonate with struggling to grasp the link between feeling better and the side effect being weight loss, not having weight be the main focus of energy. Nodding my head so much listening to this podcast. Whatever tools being used to increase compassion and understanding are clearly working, Rangan is such a wonderful human, I aim to be more like him.

I was diagnosed with MS 10 years ago. I have struggled for 10 years parroting the phrase "MS won't define me!" but it does, every single day I have to make allowances, I have to let people down and I cannot always be there for the people I love. Recently I realised and this could sound like a "Well Doh!" moment I have spent 10 years stagnant in depression. I have gained weight, stopped exercising, lost confidence and lost my marriage. On no level have I been there for the people around me, I have not even been there for me. All of this is just to say I am trying your "Feel Better In 5" as I have to do something to bring back a semblance of who I was before there is nothing to bring back.

I think that a whole foods plant based diet will really help you a lot with MS, because these it's an inflammatory chronic desease and this diet it's antiinflammatory and it's important to avoid proccessed foods; try to find a nutritionist that works with these, maybe try on plant based UK professionals site 😉🤗

All eaten and even enjoyed! Thank you for this and the other insights in this episode. I’m so conscious of trying to pass on a healthy attitude towards food to my children and being able to use and model tools like these will go a really long way. Thank you for this. I have followed you for a while, though I have to admit I don't always listen to all the podcasts that aren't directly health related. I appreciate your honesty. However as a consequence of my own health issues and lack of help from general practice I veer from being hopeful when I listen to you to thinking maybe general practice will change and be more holistic, to despairing that it will never happen. Keep up your work and the GP training etc.
@DrChatterjeeRangan3 жыл бұрын
Appreciate your feedback Ruth. I would like to think that some of the seemingly 'non health related' podcasts are actually relevant for health even though that may not be immediately apparent from the title. Sorry to hear you have had your own health issues - wishing you all the best, Rangan

I had the same experience, I've been pulling back on social media for a while (quit facebook and twitter well over a year ago) but in May I stopped Instagram use, mainly as I was noticing I would feel irritated seeing people on holiday, or enjoying the time furlough had given to some when I was struggling with extreme work pressures, horrible neighbours, loneliness, etc due to the pandemic. My feelings were being negatively influenced by the images I was seeing (which are very much a highlight reel anyway and unlikely to show any challenges they were truly facing) so it made sense to take a break for a while. What I was surprised by was I, like you, started to realise my own thoughts on things, that I felt less unsatisfied with my life, I felt less unsuccessful (because I don't have the designer bags or big swish house etc but that's ok), and generally highlighted to me how much we are all influenced without even realising it. There's a lot to be said for stepping away from the noise, especially now when for many of us, life feels very difficult.

Sharing a poem I wrote. It's called: HEALING......Healing comes in many forms. Wounds inflicted leaving torn. Many people in various distress. Living life in a mess. Seeking a cure, that is pure. Soothing when it arrives. Remedies help you be alive. Whole and blemish free, we all want to be, but not easily. Promises medicines bring. Cost expensive worse than sting. Lots of choices to make. Can be overwhelming to take. Restoration back to normal be. Able to function fully. Health so valuable it's true. Take good care of the person that's you. ---- written by Carina Patino

As someone else said in the comments, I wish you were my doctor. I'm a quiet easy going person, but I'm so frustrated I want to batter my doctor. Why does a doctor make trying to be healthy to difficult? I don't want pills, or platitudes. I want diagnosis then treatment. Please save me from my doctor.

I have relative energy deficit in sports but underlying this I know that I have an eating disorder. Thank you for your comments. In the podcast today I understood a reason as to why I have been feeling uncomfortable about some of the body weight I have regained. A fear of being attractive to men.....a fear of being raped again. I'm ok with this. I think that your book could help me to keep making inroads to recover a healthy body but I'd appreciate your guidance. I do have the support of a therapist but I am choosing to recover on my own, using my on resources.

Hello Dr Chatterjee,it would be nice of you could do a interview with Russell Brand on fame,addiction and success,he has alot to say on these matters and also maybe on inequalities in society and its effects on our health.There must be someone who is an expert on such matters linking health differentials and inequality because that seem like a big part of the equation.

I completely agree with banning billboard ads for junk food. Absolutely no one wants to be bombarded with that when they go outside, except for junk food companies and lobbyist. Just like how absolutely no one wants lobbyists donating large sums of money to political parties and guaranteeing then a cushy job after retirement, yet we never talk about this. As long as we are divided and only argue amongst ourselves about polarizing things that we will never reach an agreement on like Black Lives Matters then the parties can get away with these legal corruption.

Another amazing podcast post Dr Chatterjee, cant wait for your book to arrive, its been preordered since it became an option. I'm going thru the hoops to get bariatric surgery as I am at desperation point however I need to lose 10kg to move thru to the next stage, but I want to do it in a way that won't trigger my binge eating disorder, for me I know its a mental issue, I am a nurse I k ow about nutrition and what to eat but I cant seem to follow it. So fingers crossed your book is the tool I need to unlock my issues with food and release the weight in a healthy nutritious way.

But also because shes on baby formula and I don't know what to do, if it really is the formula but also I doubt it because there are so many baby in formula and most are okay. I'm just lost tbh. But shes about to be 6 months and I hope I can start her on good veggies. I'm tierd of going to the drs and getting more steroids creams.

Your podcasts have become more popular in the US over the psst year because you frequently have left science in the dust and jumped on the wooowooo train. Americans hate science, and love celebrities like entertainers and sports figures (well only male athletes). Very sad. Hoping in 2021 you go back to science and stop interviewing the same old popular talking heads everyone one else is interviewing on every other podcast.
