I'm a type 1 Diabetic, and when I eat carbohydrate, no amount of insulin can control it. Since going carnivore, I've reduced my basal and bolus insulin dramatically, and my blood sugars are consistent and within a healthy range mostly. I'm severely insulin resistant after years of eating a "healthy" diet and I'm working to correct that. It won't be easy, but I'm determined to do it!

Dr Cywes you are amazing! I have learned more with your videos than I have in my lifetime as a type 1 diabetic! No doctor takes the time. You are helping so many people and you deserve the Nobel Prize! Never have I heard of learned this much! As stated in another video Andrew Berger told me about you! I just can't thank you enough. I'm following you and I'm doing exactly what you say because everything you say is like bible for my Type 1 diabetes. . . .I just can't tell you how happy you have made me. Not that it will be easy but I have a CGM (just got one recently) and a medtronic insulin pump. My C-Peptide is 0.1 so I know for sure I'm a type 1 and have been for over 40 years. But no doctor has ever explained as you have. Thank you. . .thank you. . . .thank you. I'm in California otherwise I'd be in your office tomorrow! All the best. . . .

I know it would never get anywhere but it would almost be worth it to have a carb tax to fund diabetes research and medications. No I am not one who is all for taxing everything but do realize it's usefulness to either fund or deter behaviors. Really appreciate all your insights.

I have been dealing with T2D since 2003 and have listened to many doctors on the subject now including this one. Also mainly Dr. Ken D Berry, but I have listened to many over the years to glean knowledge from all of them. I one thing I can say is that we are all different. I have listened to people talk about how they are free from T2D after 3 or 4 months and I say good for them. But for me, it has been a battle for 17 years and counting. I went to CARNIVORE on Aug 1-2018. But that still was not enough so now I am doing OMEOD in order to see the results start changing for the better. MY 90-day average AIC read today was 4.99 but this took a long time to achieve so don't get discouraged we don't become diabetic overnight and it doesn't go away overnight either.

Don Swarthout x, So you eat one meal a day every other day. Or do you also have a meal once a day some. Are you fasting 48 hour before a meal. Congratulations on A1c of 4.99%. Are you off all diabetic medication include Metformin? Can you share what your morning blood sugar. Thanks for an answer, please like my comment so I may see your response.

@@jameskantor0459 I do my best to do 42:6 which makes OMEOD. Some would say no I don't because I use butter and pork Rinds on the days I don't eat. I have refused any medication for T2D. My BS this morning was 114. The previous 2 days were 106 both mornings. My Dr. is allowing one test per day, strips paid for by Ins. Dr. Ken Berry says wait an hour from getting up, to check, but for me it is ALWAYS higher an hour after getting up. My BS goes up from the time I get up until I eat. 1 hour after I eat it is near 100 or below. I usually eat between 2 and 4 pm. And I most always have some protein before bed usually Liverwurst.

@Rachel Cogan Keto Fit - From your name, it sounds like you are on the right track! The one thing I wish I had been told when Dx'd with T1D so many years ago, was how I might preserve my remaining pancreas beta cells. Docs still don't advise on that because most are not aware that all T1Ds and LADA's still have some remaining cells that may be preserved...if you can stop the autoimmunity. My best compilation of ideas on how to do so -- Step 1 - stop allergens like wheat, other grains, and milk products (for now). Also consider eliminating high oxalate foods like spinach, chard, nuts and seeds. Step 2 -- Raise your Vitamin D3 level to 60-100. Step 3 -- Work on your gut microbiome by adding probiotics, eliminating chemicals and being kind with foods, since leaky gut goes along with autoimmunity. Step 4 -- ensure that your vitamins, minerals and hormones are up to optimal levels. Lots to work on, but this may help you quench the autoimmunity and keep some beta cells. References: Alessio Fasano of Harvard on Autoimmunity, Paul Mason (Lectins and Autoimmunity) kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5u0i3Z5nrtpn6M, Wheat Belly's Dr. William Davis, and so many more! All of these docs have relevant videos on YT. Good luck and keep your spirits up!

Thanks for the response. I’ve actually been Carnivore for 2 years so I feel like I’m going to maintain some better sugar levels at least that way. My endo is sending me for more testing so we can see thyroid and all sorts of other potential auto immune issues. I love Paul Masons work too. Thx again for reaching out.

@@sandraazucar493 is it possible (or have you heard maybe) that t1d could be caused by a parasite? 🤔 which "resides" in pancreas? I was wondering if that could be a case sometimes or never or always with t1d ... 🤔
@sandraazucar493
@sandraazucar493 Жыл бұрын
@@peteroz7332 That's a great question! I've read/heard of this possibility. And since there is limited risk to doing one or more parasite cleanses - why not pursue it? I will experiment with this soon. And please let me know what you've heard!

Don’t know how I missed this video. I’ve gained so much weight since going on insulin pump since 1993 and of course have insulin resistance. Seven weeks into strict keto I’ve decreased basal insulin down 8 units daily. Only have had a few spikes in BG and that was related to stress. My average BG this 7 days has been 98. I would like it down more to 80’s. I’ll keep working on it but of course I’m worried of lows since I don’t feel symptoms until I’m into 30’s. I had two consecutive mornings 6 months to get approval. I will have to pay out of pocket next yr when I go on vacation to travel around the US for 2 months cuz Medicare will only allow 2 sets/mo and only deliver every month. They will ship to other locations but I motel it never plans where I’ll be at any given date. I’m able to get insulin and insulin pump supplies for 3 months at a time so why not CGM supplies. Makes NO sense!!

CGMs are so expensive, they are out of many people's ability to afford. Yet having them can add years to their lives. Just another unfortunate situation in the USA which is more about profits and stock share price and less about people health.

I am so lucky to be able to have a CGM free of charge, courtesy of NHS England. It has changed my life with diabetes for the better. I wish everyone, even non diabetics, had the opportunity to have one. I know the NHS in the UK isn't without its problems, but I can't imagine what my life would be like without it.

After watching your two videos I tried something today- I eat very clean and very low carb but understanding that liver produce the sugar help me understand that when I would wake up after not having anything to eat for 12 or 13 hours that my blood sugar would still be high sometimes very high 207 so this morning when I got up it was 137 so I wrote that down had a cuppa coffee just waited a little bit to see if it would go down and it went down a few points so I decided to inject one unit of insulin and then I went for a walk for 2 1/2 miles and in that walk my insulin went from 131 down to 81 with a combination of walking and one unit of insulin and normally my doctors told me to take 3 to 4 units of insulin before I eat today taking the insulin not based on what I ate but what my insulin level was I end up only having to take four units of insulin instead of 9-12 u it’s. I’m gonna try this for a few days and document it. I will take my long acting insulin at night but I’m interested in seeing how it all works together. I am 71 years of age just diagnosed in January of this year with type one diabetes adult onset My pancreas either makes tiny little bit of insulin or none at all… Still learning thank you Dr. for your excellent videos and explanations.

I was diagnosed type 1 in 1970. Usually OMAD, low-carb, A1c still around 6.7, about 60 lbs overweight. Probably shouldn’t be drinking alcohol at all. Gastroparesis is bad enough that I can’t take insulin before meals without a risk of low blood sugar. I’m a 40-minute drive from the doctor. Current endocrinologist is worse than useless. I might just text his office...
