Intending to reverse type two diabetes, which I did, I lost over 100 pounds in 18 months, with the ketogenic way of eating and fasting (restricted time window, intermittent and extended.) That was only the first act. I also dramatically reduced the effects of degenerative disc disease and arthritis. My mind is clearer, I have more energy, and my mindset is positive. People tell me that I'm always smiling. Eating a mostly whole-food and mostly ancestral healthy fat diet has literally and drastically changed my life, and no doubt, extended it.

Been a type 2diabetic for the past eleven yrs. I discovered it when I had a heart attack and almost died. Took the insulin and all the other drugs for a year and got off everything and did a low carb diet for the past ten and used natural supplements to control it. About a month ago I noticed my blood sugar going up and nothing working. Now Im on strict keto 10 or 15 carbs a day two meals 5 hours apart or omad other days. After two weeks the blood sugar is slowly going down. Its still random and all over the place but getting better. It was 136 this morning. It was between 150 and 160 and 170s a month ago. Thanks for all the videos to help.

Last November, I started the carnivore diet. Stayed on that for 3 months and then added avocados, olives, and brussels sprouts. I occasionally add some kale, usually using it with eggs. I am currently 55 pounds lighter, off of one of my blood pressure meds, and my blood sugar is no longer in the type 2 diabetes range. If my numbers are as good or better than my last check up, my doctor said he will take me off of all of my meds (blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol). My triglycerides are back in a normal range also. My arthritis has disappeared completely and my energy levels are through the roof. I'm retired now, so playing golf and cutting firewood are two of my favorite pastimes. I sleep much better also. My CPAP numbers have greatly improved, and I may not need that much longer. And after all of that, I never get hungry! I eat one meal a day with no portion restrictions. I couldn't be happier in this environment! Watching your videos made all of the difference. I asked my doctor why he hadn't given me the same advice, and he said that they didn't teach him that in medical school. They really should have.

I know what the results mean when I see them before I release them to the patients charts. My grandmothers were two English ladies, one a Victorian and the other an Edwardian lady - they were not scientists, but they both knew you never snacked, you never ate between your three meals and you avoided the bread, biscuits, cake, scones and sweets because they were what made you fat - Why did we forget this?

Thanks so much for this video Dr. Berry. I lost approx. 50 pounds after I was diagnosed with type 2 in only 6 months. My eating window is first meal at 11:00 am (Breakfast food or lunch type food), thru and finished no later than 6:00 pm. Normally I`m finished eating dinner between 4 and 5 o`clock, nothing ever after 6 pm. I have made this regimen my lifestyle along with no bread, no potatoes, no sugar... along with 500 MG. of metformin after dinner, my A1C has been between 5.2 and 5.4 for the last 4 years. I have never felt better at age 66.

I have found I do not have any problem skipping breakfast. It is the only reason I believe I am keeping my A1C at 5.7. No sugar or alternative diet drinks either. I drink Bai drinks or Virgils no sugar soda. Looking at their ingredients, I believe their ingredients like monk fruit are OK. Do have some weakness for ice cream and occasional bread; hence my thought that intermittent fasting helps me out a lot. Even with the lower A1C, I have the beginnings of eye neuropathy which an eye laser session so far has stopped in its tracks. Thank you Dr. Berry for reminding us in a strong manner how threatening diabetes is.

I would add one additional tool, a blood glucose meter. A CGM would be great, but most insurance companies won't pay for it if you're not on insulin. Heck my doctor keeps threatening to take away my prescription for the strips for my meter. A major rule of thumb I learned early. You meter is a diabetics best friend. It tells you the truth. Eat to your meter. Test your levels before and two hours after a meal. That way you know exactly how a certain meal is affecting you. You can then make adjustments in order to get the results you want. It was by this rule that I discovered the low carb /keto diets. The dietician is sent to after diagnosis told me to eat over 120g of cards across 6 meals a day! OMG as soon as my numbers would start to drop from a meal, I would have to eat and they would go right back up again! By eating to my meter, eating at most three times a day, and eating a ketogenic diet, I dropped my A1C from 10.4 to 5.2 in exactly 6 months. All that on 500mg of metformin a day. Since then I've been bouncing down around 5.0. Even hit 4.8 and 4.9 a couple of times. At diagnosis I was told I was in horrible shape, that it would progress rapidly, that insulin would not work for me, etc. Well look at me now buddy! Ha!

Last January I was taking 100 units of insulin and pills, my A1C was still running 7+ with high and low sugars, after switching to these methods I went OMAD and reduced my carbs to almost zero, my sugars are normal no highs or lows just steady, no my insulin or pills just keto carnivore high fat with salads. 60 lb loss in three months, I’m now fat adapted and don’t depend on carbs for my nutrition. I used to be carb adapted eating 3 mea a day plus snacks, constantly hungry craving more carbs. Now I can eat 1 meal a day and don’t have the hunger cravings while working on the fat reserves. Thanks to Dr Berry and others on you tube I have learned to reverse the diabetes, living a healthier lifestyle .

Hi Dr Ken. I have been losing weight for about 7 years but was still diabetic & had high blood pressure with high triglycerides, & also hundreds of skin tags I had to have removed each year.1 year ago I started eating the keto way & now my a1c is 5.3, I’m taking just 50mgs of atenolol twice a day, the skin tags have completely disappeared, & my triglycerides are down to 112, the lowest they’ve ever been & I’m down another 20lb. Instead of 9 strong medicines a day I take 100mg total of atenolol & a baby aspirin. I hope to be completely of BP meds soon.

I've been doing this. Not Keto, but aiming for under 100 carbs a day. I've been so full my portion sizes have gotten smaller and smaller. Most of the time I accidently stay under 50 carbs a day. I've also been staying full much longer. Been doing "time restricted eating" of 12 - 16 hours, simply because I'm not hungry at night, and sometimes not hungry until lunch.

My 12 year old son got covid and immediately was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes. We do both timed eating (8am, 12:00 noon, and 6:00 pm meals only) and about 50 -100 carbs per day. His endocrinologist does not like that we skip Lantus and many times don't use Humalog at meals, but his glucose is so low we fear he may go hypoglycemic. One other thing we do that is key is exercise. Walking, cycling, and jumping on the trampoline can dramatically lower the blood sugar.

Your videos started me on the ketogenic diet. I was trying to find the 2 videos of yours that started me off so that I could refer a fellow diabetic to the videos which set me on fire for immediate success. I immediately stopped taking all insulin before meals and was gradually cutting back on my long-acting insulin and the weight was just melting off. But I cannot find the 2 videos offhand...but found this one and sent them the link to it. For some reason though, I reached a plateau about 2 years ago, maybe 3 and put 20 pounds back on, having uncontrolled diabetes again. I do strict keto, eating one meal a day, and fast. I NEVER cheat. Since the pandemic, and researching online, I learned about 1.5 diabetes/LADA. Because I was 37 when diagnosed, the doctor said I was a Type 2. I've read that a lot of adult Type 1.5 diabetics are misdiagnosed because of their age. I am now 67 years old and found a recommended nurse practitioner who will test me appropriately to find out which type of diabetes I truly have. In the meantime, I've remained diligent to ketogenic diet. I saw a video of yours with a Type 1 diabetic who did excellent with your carnivore diet. I tried it for 3 months, but it spiked my sugars something awful. Everyone is different, I suppose...and I certainly do feel like an enigma sometimes. In any case, I am very grateful for you, Dr. Berry. You've improved so many lives with your generously informative videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I am still a keto woman and hope that I can figure out what's going on with me soon before I go bonkers. [haha] Thank you for all that you do, Dr. Berry!!!

I do eat a little bit of vegetables. I no longer have diabetes. I know I’ll have to continue this way of eating to keep control, but isn’t that better than losing control again?

at first i thought it meant to eat your meal in a shorter period of time but being i am a slow eater, i was relieved that its to fast longer. i go even longer than you suggested. i wake up about 9am (im a night owl) and am not hungry until about noon or 1. so i wait until then and try to ONLY have something carb free like eggs. then i dont eat again until dinner. and only lately, am i NOT craving a late night snack, but if i do, its something healthy and way before the one hour before bed, like you mention. so far, my a1c is inching down. i am or was pre diabetic and hope that my next test shows me way below that. thx so much for all that you do for us.

I've been doing this, since early March, after watching yours, Dr. Berg's and Dr. Schmidt's (he's my dr) videos. I am eating nearly zero carbs (maybe 25 grams/day), and frequently doing OMAD (Keto) one day and then FASTING the next, alternatively. While my recent bloodwork shows that my A1C is within the normal ranges, I am VERY carb sensitive and it affects me very quickly. Just by doing OMAD + Alt Day Fasting, I have seen a dramatic improvement in my vision. I also notice that on the fasting days, that insomnia goes away.

Doc I love how simply you explain time restricted eating by going an hour longer and eating an hour later etc. I’ll be following this strategy until I no longer eat anything; that should sort my diabetes out lol! @@MusicLover-st7xn I eat anything I like. Luckily for me I really only like low carb high fat stuff now. If one goes back to gobbling down bucketloads of carbs one will become diabetic again. Same thing as if your broken bone heals after you‘ve jumped down from a tall building; if you jump down a second time your bone will break a second time! No question about that. Us metabolically challenged people (and that‘s about 80% of the population) need to look at very low carb as an forever lifestyle. The sooner we accepts this the better our health will be long term. I’m now nearly 3 years into this lifestyle and love it; I feel better and younger than I did 15 years ago. Why would I give this up again and go back to being sick, fat & miserable just for enjoying a donut for about 30 seconds? Makes no sense to me anymore. All the best

I have gout and now just recently type2 diabetes diagnosed 2 weeks ago and managing with Metformin for now. Tried Progout and ended up having to stop due to tendon issues. Managed the gout with a high carb diet and now I understand that the gout and carbs have aided in the diabetes. I've cut all refined sugar, and going low carb and low purine diet and reduced my food intake by 50%. My next step is exercise when the gout subsides. Keep up the great work and best wishes to you and your family All the way from Sydney Australia :)

I started doing something very similar a little over a month ago, about the time l watched the apple cider vinegar vid. 2 tablespoons a day. One in the morning and again just before bed. Cut out very nearly all carbs, to the point of 3 or 4 slices of whole grain bread a week. I failed to weigh before l started but in two weeks l was able to drop to the final belt notch, from the second to last, and felt a lot better. Not that l was feeling "bad" before. Came down with a cold last weekend and added carbs back in but this week they'll be gone again.
