Omg, I wasn't expecting that kind of a call-out. I think it's genius. I am happy that there's an easy explanation to understand the conflict and state of paralysis one feels. It's brutal and more than the dread of not finishing the task, it's the labeling & identity formed around it - of inability or incapacity. There are such subtle - stealthy ways in which we speak to ourselves and it's really hurtful when we talk to some other person like that but can't see it for ourselves. Maybe because when things are about us, we have a habit of protecting ourselves and our identity, so unknowingly we also justify the self-deprecation.

What a great comment. Yes, I think it's the subtle things we tell ourselves that are the ones we need most become aware of. They sound 'helpful' but are often the furthest thing from it.

I think this is the first time I’ve ever commented on a KZbin video. I absolutely love your videos, you describe my procrastination behaviour so perfectly. Your tips and techniques really help.

This is great, much needed! Can this theory be applied to breaking habits, such as mindlessly snacking or does that go away when the self esteem improves?
