Suggested routine for use in wash form: -Use a gentle cleanser to remove makeup/dirt/sunscreen. -Lather on benzoyl peroxide wash (on damp skin) to areas that have acne. Use simple circular motions with pads of the fingers, and leave on for 2-3 minutes. Be sure to avoid eyes/lips! -Rinse off. -While skin is still damp, use a moisturizer. In the morning, use sunscreen as well.

I've found benzoyl peroxide to be more effective than salicylic acid in controlling acne flareups. My sister alternates between salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and hibiclens in controlling her underarm hidradenitis suppurativa. It really works.

Misty Telling I read about that as a treatment. My sister’s dermatologist recommended hibiclens wash and tretinoin 3 times a week. She uses Hibiclens a few times a week with tretinoin. The other days she uses a Panoxyl 4% wash and a stridex salicylic pad. Clear underarms and no underarm smell.

For years when I was a teenager I used salicylic acid cleanser to treat my acne. It was over exfoliating my skin and leaving it tight after every wash. Once I switch to benzoyl peroxide my acne flatten down and my skin calm down instead of drying up like it did with salicylic acid. I wish they stop advertising salicylic acid as an acne treatment. I use salicylic acid cleanser once a week as an exfoliant. I don’t have acne anymore, but once in a while my skin breaks out and I use benzoyl peroxide cleanser and my skin back to normal.

I've been using benzoyl peroxide gel since 2008 and it's the ONLY treatment to clear my nodular acne. When I was a teen I'd use salicylic acid and it would always irritate my skin. BP 5% or less doesn't irritate my skin at all.

Months later, my derm had me switched to epiduo forte and in just 3 months I've seen some big improvement, no more cystic ones and just having small pimples every now and then. Morning routine: mild facial wash + centella serum + sunblock Night routine: double cleansing with micellar water and mild facial wash + epiduo forte every other night or cerave pm moisturizer Hope everyone can find their suited routine for their skin! Alternating between Salicylic Acid(morning) & Benzoyl Peroxide(night), plus using a toner that suits your skin type that is alcohol-free, unscented, and natural, may be great holy grails for clearer skin. :) I personally like Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Wash or Neutrogena's Rapid, Clear, Stubborn Acne Scrub (both products are 2% Salicylic Acid). And Neutrogena's Rapid, Clear, Stubborn Acne Gel (Maximum Strength Benzoyl Peroxide/10%). Using a sunscreen spf 30 as part of your regime the next day would help. ♡ And toner, Thayer's Witchhazel Rosepetal toner is a good option that should be used with a cottonball gently & allowed to patiently be absorbed + cool water after helps with redness if there's any. These would likely help with hormonal acne, I myself am going through its journey to clearer skin. Products listed are only as guides lol or examples/references but they help. Moisturizing and/or a noncomedogenic oil also are very important. 💞💞 Nourish the skin, as you're helping its acne go away!

@@nadiaruiz1945 my hormonal acne is a thing of the past! I would say it cleared completely by 6 months. Now I only have an occasional white head that clears on its own. The reply by Stephanie was spot on. Bp wash at night and salicylic acid in the morning was my routine with witch hazel as my toner. Consistency is key. It will probably get worse before it gets better but please don't get discouraged. There is light at the end of the tunnel. And now I just use basic face wash by Neutrogena but if I see an uptick I just break out either the bp wash or salicylic acid wash for maintenance

When i was 13 i started down the breakout road. Mostly on my chin and lower checks. My mom got me some benzoyl peroxide wash and lotion. I used for the first and only time , that night. I woke up with peeling ,burning, red swollen skin. Mom took me to the pediatrician. He sent me to the dermatologist for the first time. I'm allergic / too strong for my skin. My mom felt soooo bad. Dermatologist gave me a small list of 2 products wash and moisturizer. All were Neutrogena and fragrance free. And he told me to throw away any makeup brushes I used with Natural hairs. And get synthetic hair brushes. Wash them every week with a mild soap. Stop using any astringents. He prescribed a sulphur wash to be used only in the area of the break outs. Never had a zit again. Lesson learned. I need a dermatologist in my life! My Skin is way to sensitive to not have one. I was nervous to start Retin A. But I took what I learned from Dr. Dray to him and he was total on board. My skin texture has improved 100% . My malasma is almost gone!!! ❤

Claudia Arzillo, I don’t know how well I can help but I never really had pimples on my chin just closed comedones. I would use the la roche posay effaclar kit as well as cerave moisturizing lotion and it kept all my acne away except for the whiteheads. I switched the products around a couple times and tried only washing once a day but this made me breakout with not only whiteheads but pimples. I’m now using Adapalene gel and it is working. I’m only on day 3 (so before much irritation and purging) but I would give it a try. I also only use the cleanser from that kit in the morning and switched my moisturizer to Neutrogena sensitive moisturizer. Now I’m just looking for a good sunscreen.

Tryshita Pytoshit I have really oily but dry skin. (My skin is dehydrated and lacks water, so it’s dry. But over produced oil to try and compensate, so I’m OILY 🙄) This is the only cleanser I use. And then I moisturize with the cerave pm moisturizer. If I’m wearing any makeup I use my makeup remover first and rinse my face. Then wash with this.

Retinoids such as tretinoin, acids such as salicylic, and benzoyl peroxide are just a few of the products that cause purging. These products contain active ingredients that increase the skin cell turnover rate, therefore causing your skin to purge. ... Alongside its many benefits is the side effect of initial skin purging :D

Best benzoyl peroxide I’ve ever found: Dr Song 2.5%. I got it from Amazon it’s a huge tube, good price for the amount cuz it lasts forever. It’s a great lightweight gel consistency and it spreads easily, you don’t need much. I use it everyday and it’s the only thing that controls my acne. Salicylic acid has never worked well for my acne, it’s very irritating on my skin. I would like to try PanOxyl, as well. Thank you!

I lost my acne by using benzoyl peroxide+clarifying lotion (toner)+spf50 am routine, night time routine:benzoyl peroxide+ clarifying lotion(toner)+retinoic acid+moisturizer(optional). This was the routine that my dermatologist gave me when I was in my early 20s, now in my 30s it's different, though I don't have acne anymore but I have blemishes and tiny bumps here and there I couldn't seem to get it out. 😀

When I was about to start Accutane, my dermatologist started me on Tri-Sprintec, a birth control, which cleared me up right away. I’m a sophomore in college and I’ve started breaking out again because my gynecologist switched me to a different birth control for period pain when I took the placebo pills in the birth control in the Tri-Sprintec. i’m back on Tri-Sprintec and hoping that these products get me back to a clear face. Your skin is clear so why use it still? - if it is forever use, do we drop it down to few days week once skin cleared? - if we want to get pregnant and come off it, do we titrate down rather than stop suddenly (and do we risk rebound flare ups) Subscribed, liked and my huge Thanks 😘

TheDaysEnd 1 second ago I am surprised the Differin deep cleanser BP wash didn’t work for you. The formulation is a lot more simple and should have less of a chance of causing irritations compared to Panoxyl. It’s like 7 ingredients vs 20 ish in either 4 or 10% panoxyl. The Perrigo BP cleansers have a similar formula to the Differin with the addition of a few extra ingredients but still like 9 or 10 vs 20 something in Panoxyl.
