Dr. Dray, I just wanted you to know that I have been using Differin for nearly a month now. I eased into it like you and now take weekends off. I use a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide in the AM -- and am even using Eucerin on my body. The difference in my skin is incredible. The purge stage came and went quickly. I can't remember the last time I broke out, nor am I experiencing hormonal acne. I feel confident wearing no make up. Thank you so much for your tips xx

My dermatologist, who charges a ridiculous amount for a barely 10 minute consultation, gave me a bunch of products including Differin to use and just told me to bear with the dryness if I can 🙄 I started using it and ended up with intense dryness all over my face, especially around the edges of my mouth which hurt!! Along with a breakout of pimples all over my chin and the sides of the mouth. THANK YOU DR DRAY, I WISH I SAW THIS EARLIER!!!! What a lifesaver ❤

The kind of dermatologist I would appreciate . My dermatologist didn’t seem to care, the whole visit was done within 12minutes, I kid you not. She kept pushing for me to get on high blood pressure medicine for hormonal acne!!! I said no and sticking to it
@candyloveXo3 жыл бұрын
If it’s spironolactone, this is actually a very common acne prescription! However, it doesn’t hurt to start with non-medication methods. Obviously results and comfortability are also definitely person dependent, but being a blood pressure medication shouldn’t deter people as there has been a lot of research behind the effectiveness and safety of prolonged usage despite its primary use. My friend is on spiro and it has changed her life, skin looks flawless! Again, definitely depends on what people are comfortable with but providing another point of view that the med can work.

I also use the sandwich method. 🌝Week1-2 (use once a week): nothing happened 🌝Week3-4 (use twice a week): My face has become more oily for some reason and I sense break out coming! 🌚Week5-6 ( use three times a week): a few more pimple than before. 🌚Week7-8: same amount of pimples as week5-6, but it has double its size and very inflame. I think this was the worst so far. 🌚Week9-11: old pimple gone, new ones appears. There are days I feel like it's going to get better and the next morning I have opposite thought. I saw some scaring from here. 🌚Week12 (use five times week): The scar is here. Not just pie or pih, but true scar on the side of my forehead. I did not see any improvement except closed comedones. 🙃I'm going to continue for another month.

The upside of the "purge" with adapalene is that, at least for me, my new pimples heal soooooo much faster than they would on their own. It's very obvious how differin accelerates the skin turnover process! Crazy.

My differin skin update: I am completing week 9 of using differin. Week 6 and 7 was when my skin was at its worst state, i kept getting new acne which would heal and then new ones would appear on the same area. They appear in clusters on my chin, forehead, jawline and the sides of my nose. I would assume it is a case of differin purge or my monthly hormonal acne. My skin felt rough and bumpy. I used Differin as directed by Dr Dray (moisturizer first, then apply differin) so i did not experience any dryness or flaking. Only once in a while, when i did not apply enough moisturizer, i get a bit of cracked skin around my nostril, but this goes away quickly. My skin right now (at week 9) has improved a lot, much better than when it was at week 6/7. I still have acne but not as much, and appearance of new breakouts seem to have slowed down. My left cheek is the clearest part of my face, very smooth and not much redness. With the recent pandemic, i have to wear a mask everyday when i go to work. This has resulted in some acne around that area. Not sure if it is good or bad that the mask helps to hide the acne but also subsequently cause more acne 😭

@delilahlua41596 жыл бұрын
One thing that I don't see addressed enough is the scarring that Differin causes. For me, the Differin-purge was far and beyond any kind of acne I've ever experienced. It didn't just 'bring the clogs to the surface', it brought the clogs to the surface in an extremely aggressive way. The spots that I have on Differin are about double the size of the spots I usually get, and they're deep and they've left me with a face full of indented round scars where these huge spots appeared. Indented scars are essentially permanent unless you go to a dermatologist to help remove them but this is expensive and isn't even 100% effective. Differin helps with the hyperpigmentation, sure, but that will fade in time anyway. It's not going to help me with a face full of indented scars due to this purge. The purge can do serious, permanent damage to your skin (particularly because your skin is super fragile when you're on this medication). I realise that this medication works for some, but people should be aware how damaging the purge can be. I'm just posting this here because I wish I had known it before I had started. I 100% regret this product.

I’m sorry that this happened to you 😧,, however, maybe there’s a possibility the skin didn’t get enough time to get used to the gel. It’s stupid that on the bottle it says to use it every night when, first starting out, you should be using it every 3 nights (especially with sensitive skin)
@delilahlua41595 жыл бұрын
@@felicia5049 I'm saving up to go to a dermatologist to help with the indented scars, but my skin is still recovering from the purge itself. So I'm going to wait a few more weeks until the actual active spots are the same that they were pre-Differin before trying to work on the indented scars. I wish I'd never tried this product, it's caused so much damage! I should mention that my acne was only mild/moderate before using Differin - not severe. People with severe acne might not mind the possibility of indented scars, but I certainly do and I wish, wish, wish I could just go back in time and not have used it! x
