We had written the script for our first episode, “Haunted” and were prepared to shoot it in mid-January 2014. But when it was discovered that most of us were attending Farragut Fest in December of 2013, we decided to do a one day shoot during that weekend.
Frank Parker Jr. Said he wanted a script similar to the Starship Farragut Vignette, “Just Passing Through.” ( • Starship Farragut - Ju... ) It would be a short, simple scene in which the crew assembles and gets to know each other a bit.
As the writer, I wanted to add a bit of mystery and intrigue so I added the scene at the beginning in which Admiral Bennett informs Commodore Grissom that he has been cleared of any fault in the investigation into the “Cromwell Nebula Incident.” She then gives him his launch orders, and advises him to be ready for a sensitive mission sometime in the future.
So, immediately after Farragut Fest 2013, we shot this short film.
We hope you enjoy it.

I greatly enjoy seeing the Starfleet of TOS and the other vessel's that are a part of the fleet. I hope one day to see the Starfleet Marine Corps in action serving under the command of U.S.S Dominion!

The beginning segment with the Commodore being cleared of culpability after the Cromwell Nebula incident seems a little unnecessary, but the dialog between the other characters does "fit" the style of TOS. It was also interesting to see the old style chairs being used. Sadly I do not think Doctor T'Meryl will last long because the character comes across as a reanimated survivor of the Cromwell Nebula. If we believe the members of Starfleet were (or are) the best of the best, then it should hold true they would be physically fit and ready to fight in a pinch. The TOS crew members always appeared to be capable of running the deck of Enterprise if the situation demanded it, and that is important to the feel of everything. Space is an environment requiring much more energy than a trip to the local shopping mall. However, this is not a bad overall effort: I would give it 6 out of a possible 10 points.

That antique wall mounted timepiece has been in the Commodore's family for seven generations- family lore is Gramma Ruebella bought it at the late twentieth century historic icon "Wal-Mart."

I didnt enjoy episode 1 because of the bad sound. This episode is a great improvement. The sound is much better. The cast seem like they get along from their acting. I hope next episode we finally get into some drama. Nice rec lounge set too.

What's with the wall clock?

Yes, we know it's a little weird. But the idea was to show the viewer that he has been sitting there waiting for this call for hours. A digital clock just didn't seem like it would visually show that as well.

THe only reason I can think of for a third nacelle is if your design is poor. OR woefully inefficient. If warp 9 or whatever is your max, and 10 is supposedly impossible, then you could have ten nacelles and you'd still hit that wall at 9.9 or whatever. So what's the point? And the little deflector dishes next to the big one, what's that all about? Why not just make a bigger big one? They just slapped it all on there for shits and giggles didn't they???

It's been a year since this comment.... had time to look over the Starfleet Technical Manual from the seventies yet, Jeff? There were not so many collectables to choose from for those who grew up watching TOS and were adults by the time NextGen aired!

In Trek Yards, it was posited that the third nacelle isn't for propulsion specifically, but for smoothing out/balancing things (IIRC) and for auxiliary functions. So, the intake cooler usually inboard is not present, as aesthetically, it would look imbalanced. When I first saw the arrangement in the late 70s or 80/81 as a kid, I was over the Moon being able to buy these drawings or see them in the Starfleet Technical Manual. I think one- and 3-nacelle ships are ok. GR was a bit too heavy-handed about it. Even air forces of the world have one-engine jets today, and the USN has numerous single-engine ships, often down to cost and production/delivery rates (quantity/throughput).
