I don’t know whether to laugh hysterically or cry. I am the girl with the star outfit in the background and yes, I did have to hold that pose for a long long time and it did hurt. My character was “moon beam” my best friend stands next to me as “star baby”. I sang as a child and participated in local plays where I was “discovered”. I’m 37, I found my original script in a remembrance box and decided to google it for kicks. Here is my face and a vhs review of of it. I’m shocked it even exists to be honest! I have pictures of my friend and I in these costumes. For us, it was very different. I was discovered at a school play I did, we were told this was a Barney type concept. Looking back it’s hilarious and horrifying at the same time. For us, it was just a possibility of being a star.

Like, I didn't understand the internal logic of the show because sometimes it was full of magic fantasy stuff, and sometimes it was more grounded, where kind of normal stuff happened but with anthropomorphic animals. The main characters are animal-people, but there are human side-characters like Tiger-Lily and The Professor. Magic exists, but there's no conflict between magic and science. Cryptids like the Loch Ness Monster exist in the same universe as personifications of nature such as Jack Frost, Father Time, and King Neptune. And this isn't even getting into the multiple occasions when Rupert has ended up travelling through time.

So I’ve watched Dream Bunny multiple times now and I have a way crazier theory than the whole “Dream Bunny is manipulating kids in their dreams” thing. And this one is directly supported by the text, kind of. Dream Bunny says that he was born during a time that was “very scary for children”. Auntie Anna supposedly discovered him or made him up or something when she was a little girl, and she was the first child he ever brought to Dream Land. She looks to be in her 80s or 90s to me, and this was made in 1996. They don’t go in-depth about the “time that was very scary for children”, BUT… given Auntie Anna’s age, I genuinely think the time they’re referring to could be World War I. I think Auntie Anna made up Dream Bunny to help her escape the horrors she had to face in the waking world. I don’t know if I’m the first to propose this theory but I feel like it makes sense? And if that’s really what they were going for it’s the most bonkers origin story for a children’s show host I’ve ever heard.

WW2 also works even with the context, most people alive from WW1 would've already died but WW2 is a little more possible but both still works, plus WW2 saw massive intents to kill civilians by both sides (Allied Bombing of civilian centers and of course the Holocaust) while in WW1 Autrocties toward civilians were at best a string of isolated incidents

I literally can't find anything on this. I found a single Russian listing on Ebay for this for $25, William Bradford is the name of some 1500s royal guy, and Alma Hasse (unless it's the same person) is the name of an activist against fracking, I think, and Childhood Memories Inc is the name of a day care center that hasn't updated their profile since 2010. I will mention these are all first page results so if someone has the time, they can dig through thousands of Google results to find the singular page we would all want to see.

Ive never heard of Dream Bunny specifically but this is still so nostalgic to me because it reminds me so much of the "Psalty the Singing Songbook" VHS tapes i used to watch as a kid. The terribly fake sets, giant puppet friend, bad acting from the kids, even the crappy thrown together songs are so alike. just throw in some christian morals and they're a perfect match. Magiseth Easy. They probably didn't have proper audio equipment to record high quality audio on set, which appears to be quite spacious, and had no resources to dub it afterwards instead. So, the only thing they ended up with was the raw audio in all its muffled echoey glory.

No. I've watched H.R. Pufnstuf, a decent amount of Rankin Bass specials, and some of Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation (i.e. Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, Stingray, Fireball XL5, etc.) T.V. shows. To put this bluntly, I'm used to this level of weirdness. In all honesty, Psalty's Songs for Little Praisers is MUCH creepier than Dream Bunny.
