I don’t know whether to laugh hysterically or cry. I am the girl with the star outfit in the background and yes, I did have to hold that pose for a long long time and it did hurt. My character was “moon beam” my best friend stands next to me as “star baby”. I sang as a child and participated in local plays where I was “discovered”. I’m 37, I found my original script in a remembrance box and decided to google it for kicks. Here is my face and a vhs review of of it. I’m shocked it even exists to be honest! I have pictures of my friend and I in these costumes. For us, it was very different. I was discovered at a school play I did, we were told this was a Barney type concept. Looking back it’s hilarious and horrifying at the same time. For us, it was just a possibility of being a star.

I think this show was an honorable attempt. It's actually based off of a book called "A Dream Bunny's Tales".

It's not. A Dream Bunny's Tale was out in 2019, but this was made in the 1990s/2000s. The two bunnies happen to look the same with a similar premise. I can understand why you might make the mistake but they're two unrelated things as far as I can see.

So I’ve watched Dream Bunny multiple times now and I have a way crazier theory than the whole “Dream Bunny is manipulating kids in their dreams” thing. And this one is directly supported by the text, kind of. Dream Bunny says that he was born during a time that was “very scary for children”. Auntie Anna supposedly discovered him or made him up or something when she was a little girl, and she was the first child he ever brought to Dream Land. She looks to be in her 80s or 90s to me, and this was made in 1996. They don’t go in-depth about the “time that was very scary for children”, BUT… given Auntie Anna’s age, I genuinely think the time they’re referring to could be World War I. I think Auntie Anna made up Dream Bunny to help her escape the horrors she had to face in the waking world. I don’t know if I’m the first to propose this theory but I feel like it makes sense? And if that’s really what they were going for it’s the most bonkers origin story for a children’s show host I’ve ever heard.

Except that's not what adding sound effects is. Onomatopoeia is when a word imitates the sound it's trying to describe, like "clang" or "cuckoo". Foley would be a more accurate term to use.

No. I've watched H.R. Pufnstuf, a decent amount of Rankin Bass specials, and some of Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation (i.e. Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, Stingray, Fireball XL5, etc.) T.V. shows. To put this bluntly, I'm used to this level of weirdness. In all honesty, Psalty's Songs for Little Praisers is MUCH creepier than Dream Bunny.

I have a theory about Dream Bunny. Dream Bunny is a demon who the old granny made a pact with. Granny sends the demon children so that he may harvest their souls: In return she is given immortality, which lasts as long as she supplies children. The demon inhabits the toy now known as Dream Bunny. The demon - Dream Bunny - invades the dreams of the children in close proximity to him or his minions (other toys), and conditions them so he can harvest them and put them into the bodies of other toys, thereby increasing the range of his influence. The children's souls inside the toys no longer have any will of their own, and can only internally express things (which is why some of them look depressed): The Dream Bunny has total control of their words and actions. The Dream Bunny also encourages the children never to speak about him, and also to keep their toys, no matter how old they get. This only further serves the demon's ambitions. We do not know the Dream Bunny's ultimate goals, and we may never find out. This is likely due to the benevolence of Childhood Memories inc. who deliberately avoided publishing this children's show so that the Dream Bunny could spread no further, and ultimately, perish from a stifled supply of souls.
