I used to have a full set of the original Bliss line. 14 hats, 14, 16, 17, 18 crashes and a 20 ride. I gigged with them and recorded with them with good results. The 14” hats were my favourite hats ever, and the 20” ride was as washy as Keith Moon could ever want. I really liked them. The bells were really weak on all the Dream rides I’ve tried. Seems to be a trait. Overall, I would recommend Dream cymbals. Durable, they sound great, and the price is right.

I have a 20" energy ride and the bell is really really strong - much better than any of the rides in this video or any of the un-lathed offerings. TDS Maine has good demo videos like Memphis Drum Shop, but the sounds from their videos seem to be more accurate than MDS.

I have a Dream Bliss 20" Crash/Ride that I love. However, I picked up on sale at a local dealer, and they had a lot of them. I had to test out about 10 to find one I that I liked the sound of. There were a lot of "Bliss" man hole covers in the lot. I would not order these online. Only get if you can hear them in person and test them first.

Same with my 20" Energy ride...The Drum Shop Maine has really good (ACCURATE) videos of their individual cymbals - I've purchased at least 5 from them and the videos were spot on. I'm not affiliated at all, just a happy customer.

I find Dream cymbals to be very pleasant sounding. They have, to me, a kind of simple sound, I find my New Beats for example to have more “depth”, “3d feel” and such. But in a larger mix, who cares!? And these sound nice, that’s for sure. You can’t go wrong with Dream! Very pleasant sounding.

I own a pair of the 15" hats and there is a large gap between them due to the cymbals not being flat. They're not articulate just like the video states and they feel fairly mushy but I have been playing them live and have recorded with them and they do incredibly well. The intro jam in this video is a very accurate representation of the hats.

I have some Dream Cymbals but unfortunately no recording equipment, try to lower the volume of the drums when demoing cymbals 🙏🏻 loved the explosiveness of the 21" but couldn't here the bell so well when on fulñ drum set. Thanks for posting this video. You've earned a subscriber here 👍🏼😜✌🏼

21 and 17 are killer. when I go to the store it's like it's 1997 again...prices are amazing and the sounds stack up to the so called "high end" brands

when a major brand comes with a "new" ride model, which is - to satisfy current day demand for darker sounds - thin in weight and sounds thin, too, everybody is like "yay, that's so good, keep them coming". But if a cymbal doesn't carry Z or M symbol onboard, that's another story. I'd like to see a blind test comparison some day, where people don't really see the brand and famous people behind it, they just compare and choose the sound

It’s because the branding of those companies i guess. It doesn’t come overnight btw

there is a great video on the KZbins where a guy sets up a blind kick drum mic shoot out. He has 3 dif sounds. Everyone is all "oh that's a 52 and, that's a D112". All the guy did is use the same Sennheiser kick mic and moved it around. Point being, a sound man once told me, most people hear with their eyes. Take away the visuals and just use your ears. I use the 15 bliss hats and a Dark matter 20 ride...sounds awesome. I'd put it up against an M, or a Z, or an S or a P any day.

yesss, i bet that on a blind teste people would notice that their favorite brands are not necessarily bringing what would be their sound choices. Talking about cymbals, snares, heads and drums material in generals. Sometimes we musicians are too "picky" with brand and very minor details about gear.

By themselves the rides wash out just a bit too much. I put a sticky hand right under the bell of my 21 eclipse and it brought everything out more. Even got more bell you really just gotta hit it the right way.

I know it is a lot to ask for, but is there a chance you might have a look at the Diril Janara series?

3:50 --- IMHO - If you Loosen the nuts holding the top HH cymbal on the clutch a bit - let the cymbal "breathe" - you will get a more open, less choked, "better" sound from your 1/2 open hats...

Zildjian still can't be beaten . But I always say . If you don't see the cymbals and only hear them , how can you really tell the difference .

The bells on the rides where super weak. Granted I play 2002 Paiste so I am used to a brighter, cutting tone. Not my cup of tea.

@@EHiggins funny that Rude series are the very least favorite crash cymbals sound for me (taking b8 and b20 alloys). Im also not a fan of Dave lombardo crash cymbals sound, not really my sound reference. But for rides, they are interesting, they very bright, very "metal".

Hahaha. It's a 21 inch splash. Lol. Very light but god knows what genre this range suits. It is essential to gig these in context. An ensenmble is essential. Over to you, for real life scenario. Why bother unless.
