I have a similar custom closet. Here’s a hint: unless you have a lot of boots or high-tops, they leave way too much room for shoes. Space your shoe shelves closer together and you can gain space for larger storage. Order an extra shelf or 2 if needed. I know my shoes just from their heels or toes.

its a nice install, i was hoping you had built it yourself as your projects are usually good. Sadly in the UK we have a really poor selection of DIY stores and no home depot at all. If they came here they would wipe out the normal brands who are doing a poor job of servicing the DIY enthusiast community. Our materials are also super expensive compared to the US so we envy your easy availability of materials, especially the wood projects

B&Q in the UK is actually the same company as the Home Depot in the US. You can't get anymore DIY than B&Q. Screwfix is also owned by the same company. Kingfisher. Materials in the US, in general, are of a poorer quality than the UK. The US have odd standards and regulations. The UK handles things much better and have higher building standards. And I can say all of the above because I've worked in the trade in the UK for many years and I've now moved to the US.

Just a quick question: are you happy with how these cabinets are built? I mean: nailing a board to the wall and then just putting the sides in front of that board. I’m working on a walk in closet where there is 2 feet of space to the left of the door that I feel could be useful. But when I was talking to a closet system builder, they said it was too small of a space to put anything there, but I was really interested in that little shoe shelf you used to turn the corner. If you were building the system yourself, how would you use the space while not hindering the hanging space on the perpendicular wall?
