This part of the story wasn’t scripted. It wasn’t until Wilbur joined when the idea of lore and role play was put on the table. This is still canon in the lore but they didn’t know that back then.

I can’t wait till you see what comes next. I’ve been here since Tommy joined EarthSMP and it’s been a wild ride, honestly I wish you could see first hand how intense and crazy cool this can get but it’d take YEARS to watch the VODS in their entirety - specifically if you look at multiple POVs. This is the best way to go about learning about the DreamSMP if you wanna get a lot of info in a more cohesive way and in a shorter amount of time.

Dream certainly becomes more and more antagonistic and a bit off kilter as the smp drones on, and is kind of an asshole, but then again, everyone is on the dream smp in some capacity. The “villain and hero” thing is so rigi it just straight up doesnt apply. Its like wilbur says; everyone’s morally grey. There are some things dream may be right about, some things tommy is right about, so on and so forth.

I like how they make it so that anyone could be the “villain” and how no one is inherently good (I find it that characters who fit perfectly into slots that don’t change can get boring). POV is also an important factor

The disc war was so dramatic that it became actual roleplay despite the fact that it was all based around a pair of music discs that AREN’T EVEN RARE. I just love that.

Dream is the villain of the story, but at the start he tried to be a peace keeper. Tommy was acting like a child, so Dream treated him like one, taking away his possessions and telling him he can have them back later, which in turn got him villainized by Tommy, and in turn Tubbo aswell. He never started as the villain but he grew into the role due to a mental spiral and the constant feed that he is the villain, and because you don't see his side from the L'manberg war onwards, its easier for people to claim he's the villain (I am really fasinated by Dream's character and how Wilbur and Dream have crafted him (Wilbur became the main writer as the DSMP became more scripted))

Originally, the Dream Smp had no plans, the whole disc war was just a fun bit that Dream had thought of, so him and Tommy did it. Wilbur was the first one to ever actually write down ideas and make a plan for lore

It’s always so fun to see people react to DSMP! It’s a fresh view and the excitement of watching it for the first time is so contagious! It’s really interesting to see how it’s progressed as a story, because right now it’s easy to see Dream as a strict admin just doing his job, but as characters start to get outlined and defined overtime as the server takes on a more self aware role playing story, he starts to lean into a more evil character and Tommy starts to lean into a more good character. I’m hyped to see the rest of this reaction series, it gets so much more dramatic!!!

If you're gonna start going down this rabbit hole might I recomend "Dream SMP War: The Movie" by SMP Compalations? It has clips from the first disk war And the War for Independence in L'Manburg showing A lot of good information and reactions. Honestly I thought that was It for the SMP but BOY! WAS I WRONG! It IS 2 hours long, but I guess you could take it in bits of it? idk, but I always recomend it to people when they want to get into the dsmp
