Train of Thought is not only Dream Theater's best album but I also think it's one of the best metal albums ever made.

You were so close. It's pronounced Rin-Er-An. I loved that I could find a DT song that had you both head bobbing the entire time. You can thank the keyboardist Jordan Rudess for all those extra instruments that you hear. There are only 5 members of DT so anytime you hear some crazy sounds it's probably Keyboard. John Petrucci shreds the guitar with a ton of solos in this one and Mike Portnoy's drumming is incredible. Even the bassist John Myung is crazy on this track! As you guys said they are Masters at their craft. Almost all of their concerts are played in amphitheaters or concert halls so you would definitely be seated. This pick was mostly because Chuck said the last DT song didn’t sound like metal. Glad I could break Chuck’s brain a little and make him feel those sweet sweet feelings. Thanks for keeping an open mind with this one! I can't choose so you both get 0.5 Brain Cells 🤘

If you're going down this rabbit hole, you should react to official live versions of their songs, seing them perform is often as impressive as listening to them haha

Stay tuned, they’re coming. Especially since Chuck seemed to enjoy this one

I've seen DT a few times and all except the first one were in music halls/opera halls like you mentioned. It's a great event and their music is headbang worthy but intricate enough that people can just chill and appreciate it.

Train of thought is in my opinion, the best album dream theater has done

I have to agree. Images and words is a close second but Train of Thought is a masterpiece.

yeah. in my opinion it's the best, not because any of the songs on it is the best they've ever made, but each song is just such a banger. not a single skippable second on the whole album.

@@cunjoz Completely agree good sir. Even the intermission track Vacant is just like..."Okay, my brain needed this."

The production on ToT is the pinnacle of DT with Petrucci and Portnoy co producing. I see it as the perfection of the formula they seemed to have begun on SFAM and continued refining on 6DOIT.

I’m not sure if comment requests are open but if not it’s on my list of DT songs to share. If I don’t see them do it in a few months I’ll request it for you.

While I don't normally request these to most reaction channels, I think shorter DT songs like As I Am and Pull Me Under would be absolutely perfect for the boys

I don't think this was their intention, but this song to me sounds like DT was like "Hey guys, if we wanted to we could SMASH some Metallica/Megadeth/Iron Maiden songs if we wanted to...but we don't, so here's our other music"

Dream Theater's music is an EXPERIENCE. Please do us viewers and yourselves a favor and watch Dream Theater live videos. Watching them play live sounds as good or BETTER and adds a whole dimension. So much fun seeing them play!

Nah. Studio versions are how they’re meant to be listened to, live performances are for..well, live.
@Alver-vk8hl

@@Lurch685 True, Studio versions are how the Artist wants the song to be presented. For KZbin reactors though who are new to Prog Metal, seeing the band play the song helps the viewer and all to understand what they're hearing. Some people listen to technical complex music and even Metal in general and just perceive it as wankery, showing off, or just noise. Especially if the song is over 7-8 minutes. By the way, fun fact. When Devin Townsend first ventured off on his own after being Steve Vai's vocalist in 1993 or 94, many Record Execs turned down his Solo music because they interpreted it as "just noise". Thanks to that though we got Strapping Young Lad in 1995! Check them out if you like fast aggressive yet melodic metal! If you like Fear Factory you may like it!
