A master Comanche bow maker in my neighborhood was buried just last week. Willie Pekah took a library of bow and arrow making with him. I have a black locust stave I’m finishing up in his honor. The bow or the “Eeti” as we call it in our language, is sacred. I will say; you give the Eeti honor with your craftsmanship.

Such a shame 😢, in England we completely lost the skills of making a true English war bow until we found original 14th century bows in a shipwreck the Mary rose warship. These skills can not be lost it's our duty to keep them alive ❤

A Comanche that made his bow didn’t use a drawknife, or a vise. He would use his hatchet/tomahawk, and his knife. And the bow would come out perfectly. I was fortunate enough to learn how to make a bow like that from a full blood Comanche while I was in the military. It taught me that “less is more.”

Nice simple bow... Feathers on a bow usually tied on top tip or bottom were not for decoration but served as a wind indicator even when a breeze cannot be felt especially when hunting... I make bow from Osage, locust or mulberry and 55lb up to 70lb draw weight at 26" draw length... My bows are average of 60" long and bowstring made from red squirrel hide or sinew... Always rub in 2 to 3 coats of bear fat then we leave the bow outside during the day in the sun for about a week to darken the wood a little...

This is one of the most symmetrical, and slimmest bows I've seen you make. And I love the color of that Black Locust. Nice build!
