That's a great idea. I'm sure there are other Guzzi'ists, is that a word? in the Denver area, i mean we have a shop that sells them, and they are currently sold out. so people have the bikes lol, but i honestly never see them out and about.

I recently bought the same identical V7 Special in blue for my dad. Once I bought it, I kept it here in Milan for a month before delivering it to him nearby Venice, where he lives and, despite owning a 170 horsepower Ducati Multistrada V4S, I thoroughly enjoyed the characted of the V7. Absolutely lovely lovely bike, way more enjoyable than I expected. Thanks for sharing your videos, greetings from Italy.

it depends on the springs that are on your 2020 v7 stone, the ones on the 2021 are a beefier shock, i measured it with my calipers and it was around a 54 or 55 mm. i googled "moto guzzi preload adjuster wrench size" and found a whole bunch including adjustable ones on different sites. i would start there, hope that helps and safe rides buddy.

As I get older finding the California Custom 1400 a bit big, think this will be my next bike. Like the Abarth in the background (once owned a Fiat Uno Turbo Abarth). Owning a Guzzi is hard to explain, but once you have,well like someone said hard to find a Guzzi owner who only had one.

Wow that's one smart looking motorcycle. Where I'm at (Montreal, Canada) there's like three Guzzi dealers, one in the city and two more in nearby exurbs, but few seem to buy them so there's lots of good deals on old inventory V7 IIIs and Roamer/Bobber- as low as $6368 in American dollars- and I'm now seriously thinking about picking one up myself in the next year if circumstance allows.

Great videos, I appreciate the info you're passing along. It's shocking how useless the motorcycle press is, especially here in the US. Equally useless is when the manufacturers bring out KZbin "influencers" for phony promotional test rides. One question I have, I heard somewhere that 6th gear is good for highway cruising, and brings the RPMs down to around 2000 to 3000 at 70mph. Can you confirm or deny that? Thanks, and keep up the great work!
@dreamreaver23
@dreamreaver23 3 жыл бұрын
Oh hi Mark, lol reference to "The Room", thank you so much for the kind words. I agree completely I actually have a little rant on it in my video that I will get up later this evening or first thing in the morning, with that video I was doing a ride just to get some miles on the bike and talking about why I chose the bike that I chose. On it though I am doing highway and interstate speeds here in Colorado so about 80 to 85 and I am in 6th gear. So you should be able to go through and see a reference on there. I don't think that it's around 2,000 RPMs, but I can say that at around 70 mph it should keep it between 3,900 and 4,000 RPMs. So it is really comfortable in 6th gear on the highway.

"What's a Moto Guzzi?" In Germany it is the same. The young boys do not know what Guzzi is. In general Guzzi has the reputation of a hoary racing legend and Guzzis are rare here, too. Therefore Guzzi names its small bike "v7" today and not "Breva" anymore. It is a question of heritage of the V-Series (v7 and v11). As I bought my v7, I had to chose between BMW RnineT, Guzzi v7 special and Harley Davidson Sportster. All the rest of classic bikes like Triumph were out of my mind because of the chain drive instead of shaft or belt drive. I have tried all three. As I rode the same slalom I had to make to pass the examination for drivers/riders licence, the Harley scraped on the road by its foot rests. The BMW scraped on the road by its cylinder heads. Guzzi made it. Here you can see the Slalom every student rider has to pass: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHyskGh3bJ6EgZY As I made it the first time by my Guzzi to the local biker cafe, there were dozens of BMWs and Harleys in front of the cafe and one Guzzi, mine. As I relaxed on the terrace of the cafe, I saw about 15-20 biker standing all around my v7. And the only thing I customized the v7 was by adding a main stand for easier maintenance.

It’s quite normal on Guzzis to have an ‘H’ piece for the crossover with 2 clamps to the Downpipes and 2 to the silencers (mufflers for those across the pond) . Surely the viewer asking about heated grips would be better advised to instal bark busters. That V7 looks gorgeous. I still have an ‘85 Le Mans 1000. The V7 may no longer be considered a super bike but those engines last forever and are so easy to work on if you ever need to.

Hi! Nice video. As owner of a grey one, just a couple of comments: 1- cruise control is very difficult and expensive to instal, being the bike w/o ride by wire (big difference vs the V85 TT) 2- the power chart you showed is coming from the Mistral Special Parts website and refers to the increase in power with their aftermarket exhaust chart. The bike has a much more significant increase in HO vs the previous gen (by actually 25%)

thank you Lorenzo, Yeah my buddy and i were talking about that last night. He was mentioning a throttle lock if i wanted to rest my throttle hand on long rides, I don't know how I feel about those though. They seem unsafe, will have to do some more research. and yes, the chart was from mistral exhaust, I have one on order and hopefully it will be in within a couple of weeks. When it does i will do a comparison with a sound meter for stock, mistral with DB killer in, and Mistral with DB Killer Out.

How is low speed on and off throttle? Does it lurch in traffic...say during stop and go rush hour on I-25? Any detonation in low speed roll-on? I’ve heard the Euro 5 compliant bikes are painfully lean. I hope that’s not the case since I already bought a 2021 V85, and just waiting on delivery. I’m glad I “discovered” your channel. I will do a video soon in a parking lot showing off different riding speeds, I know one of the biggest things that i've seen from other reviewers vs past v7s, is that the clutch is lighter and has a longer throw, which helps with the lurching at low speeds, as the clutch doesn't just pop like it used to. I can say that i've spent about an hour in I25 Denver traffic where it was move 5 ft and stop. and during that, i had no problems with jerking, or lurching, it is nice and smooth. i hope that answers your question I will try to shoot some parking lot video tomorrow and get it edited and up by this weekend.

@aaron.hudacky
@aaron.hudacky 3 жыл бұрын
Great video! Does your V7 850 have any tach lag? At what indicated RPM does the rev limiter engage in first gear? On my 2017 V7III Special, it begins bouncing off the limiter at around 5800 rpm in first; my tach lags. In second it's about 5900, in third about 6100. I had the dealer troubleshoot it and I had the tach replaced under warranty early on because it broke loose and would occasionally stop in erroneous positions when the motorcycle was shut off, but that didn't change the operation. Also, I have a pair of heated Koso Apolo grips on my V7III, and did not have to change any other part of the electrical system as the alternator makes more than enough power to support the heated grips with stock lighting. I have ridden over 2 years and 16,000 miles with this configuration. I have added 2,000 more miles with an LED headlight bulb, and it hasn't resulted in any electrical issues, but it isn't necessary to support heated grips, and I'd assume the V7 850 is the same unless the alternator has been derated.
@dreamreaver23
@dreamreaver23 3 жыл бұрын
All good info, I haven't had any problems with lag on the tachometer, as for the rev limiters mine is right around 7200 RPMs and every gear. Great info about the heated grips and everything. I don't think that they derated the alternator

i have my newest video with me traveling hwy speeds of 85 and 90. so you can see it, but the bike feels really smooth, i don't notice any heavy vibration from the bike and any of the speed range really, that could just be me through. At lower speeds, there is the engine vibration, but i wouldn't say it's ever too strong, it's just enough to let you know it's there. So far the heat from the engine hasn't been noticeable, I find the heat from the outside temp, the sun and weather, is more noticeable to me than anything else.

I have two questions, one, the oil filter, is it a cartridge type and do you still have to remove the entire oil pan like the older Guzzis? Second question, How is it riding two up? My wife and I are fairly small people, and always ride double up. Is there enough room on the seat for comfortable two up riding? How is the foot position for the passenger? Are the passenger's feet too high or too far back to be comfortable for a long ride? When I say long ride, I mean 300 miles or so, this is our average daily ride.

hmmmmmmm, well i haven't done the oil change on the bike yet, i have the first 6 free at the dealership, so they will be doing those for the forseeable future. lol. as for the riding double up, my wife has been on the back of my bike but it wasn't for more than 30 minutes, she had no problems on the back, i'm 5'9"-5'10" and she is 5'3"ish, and we are both a little on the heavier side, covid exercise routine, lol. as for 300 miles a day, that i don't know about. wish i could be of more help.

I gest drove one recently, it had terrible fueling issues between 3-4000 rpms, plus it was a boring bike. Bought a 2014 Thruxton instead!

the thruxton is a great looking bike also, buddy of mine has one of those in his garage. the fueling issues were taken care of with an ecu reflash from the dealership last year. as for boring... 2 wheels is always fun, great solid power delivery, great range, great comfort, fun and gorgeous, easy maintenance. I can agree that it's not eveyones cup of tea, but if your on two wheels, your gonna have a good time. different strokes for different folks i guess. Enjoy your thruxton buddy

Awesome buddy, I don't think the grip puppies would make the grip diameter too large. I have medium size hands myself and really enjoy the grips better with the grip puppies on. They also reduce some vibration from going to the hands

How's it going buddy, i haven't done any of my own maintenance yet, i paid for the first 6 of them through my dealership, but from what i've seen online the maint. is relatively easy, checking the valve clearance is super easy since the engine is turned 90 degrees. no chain to lubricate and tighten, just checking the fluids. and if i am not mistaken, i'll need to look at the manual, i believe the oil changes are every 6000 miles.

Unfortunately, even here in Europe it's the same thing. Few have heard of Moto Guzzi even fewer know that's a motorcycle company! The longest, continuous, European manufacturer of motorcycles! Since 1921! At the same place they started, at the same factory in Mandello del Lario! I believe the Piaggio group's marketing dpt intentionally has left out of their promotion plans Moto Guzzi, probably because they want to maintain the "mystic" of this company. To be honest, I always knew of them, I just never knew in detail their line-up. Since 2021 I have been interested in many bikes after a long time of everything being just bland to me. After the Interceptor came into the world scene (many congrats to Royal Enfield btw not only for this bike but for their entire strategy) I found again the spark! The Bonny (always a good choice), the Interceptor, the Kawa Z650RS are all very special bikes to me. But, the one that stands out for me is the V7 Special. For having a shaft, for the engine, the rumbles & generally the feeling of this bike! That's why I'm getting one in 3 months or so if everything goes well! Stay strong, ride on!

Hi dreamreaver23 - so, I noticed a post on the FB forum today mentioning that under hard braking a few people have dropped the bike coming up to lights. It might be inexperience, or something worse. What are your thoughts and experiences?
@dreamreaver23
@dreamreaver23 2 жыл бұрын
i know that on older bikes, and some newer ones without ABS, it can be easy to lock up the tires under hard braking. I myself started on an '81 Honda CB 750C, which had no ABS, so a big part of my practicing on the bike was to go into a big parking lot and work on hard braking, like really hard braking (50 - 60 mph to 0 as quickly as possible), and lock the tires to get used to releasing and re-applying the brakes to stop the lockup. I practiced it so that it would become instinct. Fortunately, i never had to use it while riding on the road on my CB 750C, but i did have to use it a couple of times on my wife's 2019 Honda Rebel 500. It also does not have ABS, and one time coming off of an interstate exit, a guy just decided to randomly come to a full stop on a down hill slope. thank god i practiced it so much, or it could have been bad, but i was able to keep the bike vertical and avoid hitting the truck. As for whether it is inexperience or something worse. i would say that inexperience is a big part of it. Most folks will learn the basics, either at home or an msf course, and then get on their bikes and ride, yet they forget that key part of the msf training, Keep your Skills Sharp, Practice, Practice, Practice. i don't care if you've been riding 6 weeks, 6 years, or 16 years, go to a parking lot and practice hard braking, evasive maneuvers, slow turns. all of the basics. and when you think you are good and don't have to practice anymore, slap yourself and continue to practice. I still go out to a parking lot every 2 or 3 weeks and work on braking, slow turns, and evasive maneuvers. because someday it will hopefully save my life when someone around me starts acting dumb. Thanks for the great question David. What are your thoughts on the subject?
@GooseDave
@GooseDave 2 жыл бұрын
@@dreamreaver23 Thanks mate. Totally agree. I do the drills ASAP on any new bike. Even with ABS, I still practice progressive hard breaking out of habit. Many thanks for the feedback. Mine arrives in two weeks, so getting excited now. Cheers.
