I worked in the salmon farming industry for 8 years or so when it first started on the East Coast of Canada. They don't use dye to color the meat. It is the krill and small crustaceans that give it the pink flesh. I think salmon should be on the toxic food list. They have been pumped full of drugs to combat disease and viruses that the actual act of farm fishing created. I don't think the wild caught salmon are much better. I can taste the difference.

Even as a picky eater child who didn't like most meats my mother could always depend on my eating most any fish. Being made fully aware of the true nature of the health limitations of eating today's fish as a dietary staple is very vital for myself and all of those who depend on it routinely in their weekly diets. Very glad to here that pickled herring and flounder are safer , they're 2 of my favorites. Also the Atlantic mackerel can be bought canned like sardines, very convenient.

Hello Dr. Ekberg . . . great info here. However, I'd like to point out the distinctly different characteristics of the Albacore Tuna. When people say 'tuna', they often think of the very large and sought after Bluefin and Yellowfin tuna you see on tv shows. The Albacore tuna is a very sustainable species that we fish for commercially and recreationally on the West Coast of the US (Primarily north) and typically only catch juveniles that are between 8-30 lbs. Low mercury and young age.
@lynpatricia68542 жыл бұрын

Thank you. There literally is an agenda to keep Bluefin and Yellowfin away from the masses. I've never heard of anyone dying from eating to much of it or even having it as part of a steady diet. Lots of propaganda out there to guide the customer to what THEY want to feed you rather than what is actually good to eat! There's a reason why Bluefin is so massively expensive. If you've ever had Bluefin nigiri/shashimi (Toro) you know.

Great video. Couple of important points to add. Watch out what oil is added to your canned fish. Many manufacturers pack sardines and other fish in soybean oil which is high in omega 6. Some use cottenseed oil, a highly industrially processed oil with trace pesticides. I have found Trader Joe's to have a great selection of sardines and anchovies packed in olive oil or water. I always go for the olive oil as I think it holds the fish flavor better plus the olive oil bonus. I often save the leftover packing oil for other recipes. I would not recommend their canned trout as it is farm raised and packed in canola oil. They also have wild sockeye salmon (canned and frozen) although I have not tried it my self.

I would agree. Apart from the quality protein, there is plenty of calcium for bone delelopment, and then the fatty acids for brain and nervous system. Infants are putting on a million synaptic connections a second. This is far better than the fatty acids you get from whole fat dairy.

I tried sardines for the first time this year. I'm 60. I was surprised they just taste very much like tuna but saltier and a bit richer. I put some yellow mustard on them and sometimes Frank's Hot Sauce on them to take the edge off of them. They're actually not bad and very filling for just a small tin. I figure a few tins a week would give me some good Omega 3 oil and some bio-available minerals.

Here in Europe, especially in Holland, the Dutch "Matjes" is eaten for the best, healthiest and tastiest fish. It is the very young (virgin) herring that can only be caught from May 1st. The season runs from mid-June to September. The "Matjes" is extremely high in omega 3 and very little mercury.

The doctors here (in the U.K.) will not ask about your diet, and have only recently asked for repeat blood tests after years of these symptoms. Much love for bringing these facts to light❤

Thank you very much for this research. My main fish are tin sardines and fresh mackerel. The only salmon I have seen available is farmed, so I haven't had salmon for many years. I used to have tinned salmon, but 3 or 4 years ago, there was a question mark on that, too. [Fukushima] You didn't mention haddock. This is a fish I have weekly, so I hope there's no major problem with this.
@AJ_Reynolds5 жыл бұрын
Grace Cotton in the UK it seems like all the canned and frozen salmon is wild and affordable but the salmon in the fresh section is farmed and more expensive. It might be worth looking in the freezer section if you haven’t already.
@gracecotton98195 жыл бұрын
@@AJ_Reynolds Yes, but how do you know that the tinned salmon hasn't been contaminated? Some years' ago, one of our supermarkets was selling off Princes salmon at £1 to £1.50ish a tin. As I usually paid about 2.50, it seemed a bargain, so I purchased quite a few. Having done that, I wondered what was wrong with them, and they are now stored in a box - for when push comes to shove, with the way the world is going, it probably won't matter if there is something wrong with them. I haven't yet looked in the freezer section, thanks.

A lot of people don’t know the difference between omega 3 and omega 6. Omega 3 fats thin your blood and omega 6 fats thicken your blood. We need both, but the western diet usually has way too much omega 6 fats. This is why everyone stresses omega 3’s.
