@@ouroborosbond7412 actually, I'm 60 now also and usually pretty fit but had gained weight during covid eating whatever I wanted whenever I wanted as a coping mechanism to deal with losing my dance studio of 20 years to covid. I also just lost 25 pounds in about 3 months from intermittent fasting. I still have my latte every day. I drink Chardonnay if I want. I have been having dark chocolate every day and I eat what I want...I have gravitated to eating OMAD but I am flexible if I want. I do not count calories at all. I just quit eating any of the processed foods I was eating, no sugar (except my chocolate lol) and minimal in what I'm eating. Less carbs. Intermittent fasting and eating protein and fat and less carbs. But I credit mostly the IF. I am almost 5'9" and I weigh 127 and went from 25% BF to 22% and I feel great! Yes Yes Yes!!! Actually we should have a system - those who eat healthy & excercise get tested end of year and they get a huge refund from their health insurance 🤓 That would convince most anybody to change their lifestyle! Something similiar is already happening in China - they take body measurements (mandatory). I‘m talking more on a voluntary basis for democratic countries. It can‘t be fair that everyone has to pay for the people who live a dangerous lifestyle whether it‘s junkfood junkies, drug attics or alcoholics. Every single year more people are getting diabetes, cancer, heart disease ... and every single year the health insurance costs go up. Let‘s spread the word, start teaching our kids to eat healthy. Leave the crappy processed foods and sugary foods to rot on the shelves and in the fast food restaurants. Let‘s turn this around people - then we can ignore people like Gillian, because we are all smarter my friends. And we can take our health into our own hands. It‘s really that simple! Thanks for this great video

Calorie deficit is not wrong, it is just the variables in the calculus changes depending what you feed to the body ( but a deficit still will exist somehow, even if you are eating more calories, it means your body is wasting or burning even more). That is my understanding. Anyways ketocarnivore diet brings fasting and weight lost almost automatically for a lot of people...tigers are very lean animals after all...

Calorie counting works. Calorie deficit is not wrong. If it was, how did I lose weight? How does anyone using calorie counting lose weight? Just because there are other weight-loss options out there doesn’t mean calorie counting to create a deficit is wrong. It’s a lot of work, but it’s not impossible to succeed.

The fun thing also is that the underlying drive about reaching a percieved normal weight is that we är it as attractive because it signals health, it's probably a deeper instinct than merely fashion of the time. So it's quite absurd how she present her argument. And the bear could often outrun a trained racinghorse in modest distance! (My former SIL, a horseowner saw a bear run uphill and was astounded at the power and speed "teddy" moved upward a steep hill). Tim Spector said in an episode att "The Genius life" about a study they made and found that there 25% difference in gut bacteria with a pair of 18 year old twins who lived together, grew up eating similar meals, genetically pretty much the same. That difference will make a difference in how they tolerate different foods and thus metabolism etc.

If I get this right, she failed to help ANYONE (long term) on the biggest loser. So based on that same success rate (which is 0%) , she needs to spread this process to all her converts, to remain relevant. After a while you begin to wonder about the cognitive abilities of Hollywood celebrities or their agendas. I lost more weight with keto and intermittent fasting than the 9 years of having a monthly gym membership at my job. I quit the gym and started Keto / Intermittent fasting and lost 80lbs. Ingredients. Protein amounts. Carb ratio. We need carbs to convert to energy. I ate pretty much whatever I wanted, ...and all things in Moderation..I also was " Intermittent fasting " ,didn't know what it was. Lol. But that's been around a long while although it wasn't " understood as what it is/ does " . The QUALITY of your food matters. Her statements are disturbing . People were/ are amazed that after having 3 children, I still wear the same size clothing , ( size 4-6) as before I had children... because I do not count Calories, and all that nonsense. I've been intermittent fasting changing up my diet myself and I'm now at 190 lb and the healthiest I've been in probably 30 years. So you know what I think about these celebrity fitness people. They're all full of you know what.

@C.Church
@C.Church 3 жыл бұрын
She never said they were the same thing and in fact outlined HOW they are different on a fundamental and impactful way to health. Honestly, I don't agree with JM but all the snarky arguments against her are showing how little they understand why Dr. E is right or why JM is wrong. A right decision for the wrong reasons leads down a road of future wrong decisions. Have you ever had anyone disagree with you but they misunderstood your point? That's what you're doing now. WHY do you think there is DIRTY keto and CLEAN keto? Because there is SOME truth to what she is saying. And if you agree there is DIRTY vs CLEAN keto, you are actually partially agreeing with her. Such silly people.

When I get up each morning, I enjoy my mug of coffee but I'm not hungry until around 1 pm. One of my key take-aways from Dr. Ekberg is how to differentiate genuine hunger from just old eating habits. I love being able to lean over and touch the ground with my hands without a spare tire of belly fat getting in the way.

I haven’t actually tried fasting intentionally, but I naturally eat late. My first meal is usually @1pm or 2pm sometimes later. So if say, I stopped eating the night before @8pm I think I’ve met the necessary steps for 16/8 intermittent fasting. I haven’t really been seeing the same results people talk about after they actually intended to fast though. I’ve lost weight, but it’s been through calorie counting. It’s also not as much as others calorie counting or using other weight-loss methods. (30lbs) I’ve only recently begun looking at the carbs I take in and my protein and fat intake on the food tracker app I use. Is there more you have to do to fast? I don’t tend to eat anything or drink anything (that’s not water) until I eat my first meal. Sometimes I won’t even drink water. Since I’ve been trying to cut down on the unhealthy food I have been making mostly healthy food throughout the week. Only having unhealthier choices on the weekends if at all. What am I missing if I was to seriously try to add intermittent fasting to what I already do?

I believed this mindset for years. Did Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, etc etc. You name it, I tried it! I lost weight yes, but I was miserable and gained it all back multiple times; with multiple programs. If you’re eating food that’s bad for you, even with a caloric restriction, you will eventually mess up your hormones and it’s a vicious cycle from there. Choose a low carb for life like I did. Finally lost weight the correct way with a keto lifestyle. I won’t gain the weight back this time, either because I’m eating correctly. Thank you! 🙏

This is a good example of why i listen to your channel. You answer why and how thing's work when a statement is made. Good job on You're channel !

I've lived the Jillian mindset of diet and exercise for 62 years, I topped out at 174 lbs. Changed to Keto and IF 4 months ago. I never count calories. I walk and do 10 min of beginner HIIT exercises also. I don't beat up my body working out. My weight is now 137...I feel fabulous. It wasn't hard either. I'm not hungry, don't have cravings. Joints never ache anymore. I wish more MDs in my area would catch up to what Dr. Ekberg understands. I also appreciate Dr. Thomas Seyfried and his path to beat cancer. Having been diagnosed with bladder cancer in August, this forced me to educate myself after surgery for it.

This was a great explanation. Many Baby Boomers are experts on calorie counting and that it doesn't work for most people. Only recently are large numbers of people losing weight and keeping it off, because we are armed with the facts that you and others provide about what goes on in the body under different circumstances. Thank you, Dr. Ekberg.

I am so grateful for Dr. Ekberg and Dr. Fung and others who speak about IF and hormonal of weight. I can hardly watch Jillian Michaels slick discussion. IF and Ketogenic eating saved me! That's it!!

I admire Doctor Ekberg for his restraint! He really knows how to separate the person from the message which is pretty admirable. I would definitely have more colorful words to say.
