Great timing. Thanks Doc. I started Keto early last year and lost about 17 kilos by end of 2020 (went from 110.5kg to a very stubborn plateau at 93-94kg at the lowest point) with only moderate exercise. Then just before Xmas started back on the old way of eating (I used Xmas as an excuse to eat what I wanted) and since then gained back 10 of those kilos in pretty quick time. I feel quite ashamed of myself that I let it slip so badly, but at least I finally realised that this has to be a non-negotiable lifestyle each and every day. For me there can be no "Oh to heck with it, I'll eat pizza tonight", or "I'll grab a quick bowl of pasta" because I always found it quite difficult to get back on track after cheat days, and especially cheat weekends. The really great thing about Keto, was that while I was on it I had zero desire for junk like chips, sweets, ice creams, etc .... and hardly ever ate any. I didn't want or need them. Anyway, I plan to start again next week and do Intermittent Fasting with Keto meal plans during the eating window. Keto worked for me and so did IF, so a combination should be great.

Very interesting explanation. This does not address habitual eating, which is why a lot of people are overweight. (me!) You can be "not really hungry" but you eat "because it's lunch time," or "dinner time," or "TV watching time." This psychological hunger can be as addictive as drugs!

Stay on keto 2-3 weeks, then one serving , I gain 4 lbs. They say that's water weight. Why does it take a months to go away? Been doing all the right things for a bout 2 years. I stopped drinking any type of sugar drink i try to drink only water. Sometimes i drink beer when I'm out with friends.I'm doing little changes every week so i don't overwhelm myself.I think in the next few month i will have a healthier diet by doing little changes and not doing everything at once. I have a box of mushrooms and a large onion with my egg scramble, or eat a can of black olives...pretty sure I hit it quite easily every day! Do we get to add fruits like avocado and blueberries...eat those pretty much daily, too. Once u get off the pasta, rice, bread thing, u eat a lot of veggies. Hi Dr. Ekberg, Where to begin…..I grew up as a very healthy eater. My dad had a huge vegetable garden in the back yard and we basically ate a meat, tons of vegetables and a potato or rice. I ran track and field in high school and was very lean. After I got married and had children I started gaining and my diet wasn’t what it had once been. Temptations of fast food or unhealthy food choices had me gradually packing on the weight. I would try and eat healthier. They were never sustainable and it would always fail and I would gain more after. It’s been a struggle most my life. I’m 54 now and 5’4” and I weight 195 lbs. I’m definitely in menopause I have been on high blood pressure med for 7 years and now my doctor says I’m hypo thyroid. Im a 911 dispatcher so I have a high stress job and work long 12 hour shifts. I do love my job though. I need to make some significant changes. I’ve been watching your videos and think it might be a good thing for me to start with a fast for a few days or as long as I can to reset my system and then ditch the sugar and processed foods and go back to the way I ate as a child. Should I go to my physician and let him know what I’m doing? I heard water fasting can be hard on the kidneys? Also should I continue taking my blood pressure meds while in a fast? Can I continue to work and go about my daily life or while I need to stay at home for a week. How much water do you drink in a water fast ? Lots of questions. Do you have a video to address some of these questions? Thank you, Desperate to regain health Debbie 😊

I’m 74 and so healthy compared to 3 years ago, I think I’m kinda resting on my prior success. I have about 25 lbs till perfection but after some more liver care and actual weight exercise I’ll get with IF. I’m taking TUDCA and I am amazed at bile effects on my digestive system. I had awful digestive problems before Low carb and nothing has helped till, TUDCA and I am kinda normal now.

Yes I do exercise 6 days/week, I don’t think it’s my genetic that I’ve been given that allows me to be as healthy and in great shape as I am, rather than what you preach in this video. My doctor told me to always carry a Mars chocolate bar to have a shot of glucose if I started to feel faint. Now I'm nearly 60 and the pounds have piled on for the last 25 years or so and even intermittent fasting hasn't helped - because the apparently naturally higher insulin levels are preventing me accessing the stored fat.
