pre-keto (5 weeks ago) my worst habit (for the last 30 years!) was drinking a few beers or wine every evening while cooking/eating/after dinner. Keto allowed me to just stop that straight off !

@Marten Dekker Definitely ! I was really surprised. I'd done a few times 30 day periods before where i didn't drink any alcohol - hoping to give my liver a break, but also hoping to reduce my regular consumption, but i always came back to drinking as before. But once i went on keto, i really lost all my craving. Now, if my gf opens a bottle of champagne or something, i can't resist, but otherwise i'm fine. Big surprise. And there is plenty of alcohol in the house, no problem, i never feel even tempted. I'd like to go 3 years with almost no drinking, then after that we'll see. Hard to imagine never having a really nice beer once in a while.

My worst habit ATM is eating simply because it's time! 65yrs of doing it, but my mind is slowly coming around to allowing me to eat only when I'm hungry.
@HeyHeyAlabama

One thing that's helpful for me is to buy ingredients that will make any number of things instead of buying things that can be grabbed, warmed, and eaten. If I want cookies I have to make them, therefore I don't get many cookies. There's not a lot of things just waiting around to be eaten. I have to think about what I'm going to eat and make something good for me... most of the time.

I used the same plan, like buying whole meal oat, sugar, honey, butter, and cinnamon to make some healthy oat cookies. And as they consume much time and effort to be prepared, I ended up making them occassionally, like once or twice per year. I started to consume little fruits and much more nuts instead, and this makes me feel much better now, basiclly mentally 😌

Drinking way too much since COVID lockdowns and work from home started last year. My tolerance has caused more drinking. And now I don’t feel as good as I used to. I’m not enjoying it like before yet I’ve a bad habit of pouring a drink every day when I finish work and I may drink all evening or all on into the night. Not exercising Still try to eat somewhat healthy but it’s not keto for sure. Lots of sugar from the mix for alcohol. No chips. No cookies. No fast food. Maybe a few times a year. I do order pizza from time to time. I guess that’s fast food. Anyway I’m at a 10 on the scale. And am going to be watching this series of videos !!! This seems to be posted just at the right time. Very grateful. Thank you.

I've been an alcoholic since I was 21, I stopped periodically but couldn't stay stopped until 35. I stayed sober from alcohol for almost 20 years but switched to a process addiction, anorexia, for most of those years, hospitalization numerous times, eventually down to 34 kgs (77 pounds). However, when I started putting on weight at 54 I stated drinking again though this time it became much worse. I am sober again but working hard to not return to anorexia this time. I am getting so much good, healthy information from these videos which is helping me to focus on my health. I have spent most of my life in pain and by following Dr Berg's gentle advice I am beginning to sleep better, think better, emotion regularity, not starving myself, having energy for my new sober life. Hi, My name is Parth, and I am suffering from a lot of bloating, acid reflux, indigestion, etc. Watching ur videos and the symptoms that u have enlisted on sibo makes it feel like ur literally talking about me. What I suffer from, recently I have also started getting a lot of anxiety and feel depressed, other symptoms like brain fog and mental fatigue, not being able to think clearly, B12, Vit D deficiency kidney stones etc. have also been there, I literally don't feel like waking up, and no matter how much I sleep it doesn't feel enough, I don't remember the last time I felt refreshed after waking up and also my dreams used to be vivid and clear and not its all gone. My story starts 3 years ago when I suddenly got unlimited access to unhealthy food. I used to live off on pizzas, burgers etc. every day, not to mention my sugar intake being too high, slowly I started developing these symptoms but didn't think much of it, and now it feels like I'm beyond recoverable and have to be like this permanently, I watched your videos and saw the tests on your website, being a college student and from India, the prices of these tests are simply unaffordable, is there any way that I can talk to you and find some solution, please help me.

Finding the right mindset was a big thing for me to keep going. When you eat bad food often because of that craving you might discover that it just doesnt taste that great as you remember. I would take breaks just because things taste better when you been longing for them. Those breaks became longer and longer overtime until that craving vanished for me. But I always kept telling myself "That cheatmeal is gonna taste better if I wait" every day. You find a mindset that works for you that you keep telling yourself to keep going. Another thing I kept thinking was if the pain was really worth that short moment of pleasure. In my case the pain would be headaches and migraines. Theres workout, diet and mindset. Most people seem to put everything into workout when they make their new years promises and then they have to struggle through the pain caused by what they eat and negative mindsets making them give up.

I can control lunch easily because I am not in a relaxed, pleasant environment. After lunch is the most stressful part of the day. By the time I drive home, I know I need to take a good run/walk, workout and make a healthy dinner. Then I would like to work on my art or music. On Shabbat we have an Oneg(food). I usually bring my own food, but if someone has brought good pastries, I have to fight myself not to eat. When I lose the fight, it doesn’t make me feel good, it makes me feel bad, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Physically because I have celiac, Hashimoto, and autoimmune, which all causes inflammation and pain from eating the wrong foods. Mentally, because eating carbs and sugar, puts me into a brain fog, and seems to take away my short-term memory. Emotionally, because I then get down on myself for being weak, and giving into the temptation. My bad habits; 1.) nightly ice cream and or alcohol 2.) really bad negative thinking 3.) lack of motivation to get a 2nd job to be able to move out my parents house 4.) giving too much power to what others think 5.) giving up when things give me depression or anxiety 6.) jealous of people who have happy relationships and not remembering what others have has nothing to do with me As you can see im a stressed out 28 year old with lots of trauma that is unresolved and has led me to where im at and its super difficult to break free. Im motivated but apparently not enough although i know if i dont it may be my life on the line. Im so disappointed in myself; i need to change or the consequences will be the one i cannot repent for.

I was doing pretty good with my health & fitness routine. But then someone gave me a box of cookies. I ate a few and it was like poison. I was physically and mentally sick for about 10 days, craving massive amounts of sugar. I needed a hit of sugar just to get through the day. It's awful. I feel like there's so little pleasure in life right now. Endless lockdowns, cold, dreary, no sunshine, ugly masks on everyone, no family, no friends, no social events, and being sick from a couple of cookies. Ho hum.

I feel much more concentrated and can extract a lot more information from the content that i am watching while high. I can even say that weed helped me get out of a very depressing period of my life. Thanks to the fact i can concentrate better i started learning a lot about lifestyle and mindset and that helped me a lot.. don't really know what i should do next from here but i'm sure things will settle for the better

My 2 worst were 1) convenience food hence I have a tendency to reach for instant noodles and 2) ice cream. Because i started keto and thought peanut and almond butter were ok and was using that as last thing after a meal - really helped me reach satiety and satisfaction and sort of fill that old need/habit of dessert. My husband loves to go out to eat almost every weekend. My bad habits have always been alcoholic drinks at dinner (which inevitably lead to more drinks after dinner), which leads to craving carbs. I have 3 places on the list that I do routinely have keto meals I enjoy, but it’s always the wine 🍷 that gets me. Or if it’s a place that I haven’t yet figured out how to make keto (that my husband wants to go to such as Mexican food), the steak tacos and buy 1 get 1 margaritas also get me caught up. And then after that happens, it always takes me quite some time to get back into ketosis because my cravings have been reignited. That includes wanting pizza from our favorite stone fire pizza restaurant, popcorn during movie time, junk food/dirty keto ice cream (Rebel and the likes), mimosas and pancakes at a brunch spot, etc. I have successfully gone weeks and even months without caving to the triggers (they usually seem more tame because keto makes me feel strong), but after some time, for some reason my mind forgot all of the negative effects and I have trouble bringing the knowledge I know to the surface again. I can’t say that avoiding eating out entirely is an option because my husband loves it way too much. I can make a stronger effort to avoid the worst offenders (such as Mexican food and pizza joints), but I have to find a way to not give in to my triggers at the better restaurants that have the big salads, salmon and broccoli, or a steak. I find it so strange that I can do it perfectly in the beginning with zero temptation, but somehow weeks to months later the temptations come back with vengeance (once I have forgotten the terrible feelings of a hangover and carb loading bloating). I’ll be sitting in a restaurant and suddenly I have to actively try hard to avoid the happy hour signs (which didn’t tempt me the weeks before), the drink menu, ignore my husbands pint, ignore the tacos 🌮, ignore the free loaf of bread with dipping oil or chips and salsa, and you get the gist. I often feel resolute in my decision, and then my triggers ALWAYS happen in social situations and when I least expect it. Willingness: 10, Question: What is right about this? Well each time I do end up feeling more relaxed, feel like I have more fun, and also feel more connection by joining in on activities. Those are always the pros, but the cons list is much much longer.

My husband and I definitely have a bad habit of eating anything from pizza, ice cream, candy or basically anything unhealthy after the kids go to bed at 9pm. Now that we are in our late 30s (we're 38 and 39) we are starting to feel very sluggish and tired or just not feel well for the first few hours of the day after because of it so we are trying to stop snacking before bed. I think we are somewhere between 7 and 8 on willingness to change :-) I started doing the intermittent fasting for around 18 hours last week but yesterday I was in a "I don't care" mood and ate a lot of carbs and feel kind of crummy today :-) We are not at a point of eating keto but trying to take small steps in that direction. :-) We have diabetes in both sides of our families and so that is sobering us up a lot more as we are getting a little older and we definitely want to teach our kids better habits. Thank you so much for your videos! They are so helpful! I have been afraid and intimidated of keto but watching your videos makes it seem a lot less overwhelming and scary :-)

The critical part of my routine: wake up, feeling hungry so I eat a healthy breakfast: salad, three boiled eggs, maybe some meat -- and then I start feeling tired and sleepy and I just woke up! It bothers me cos I go to gym as well, and i always want to go in the morning, but then i end up going afternoon cos I'd take a nap after my breakfast... Tbh, I am no innocent in my own problem cos then in the night I tend to study until really late and then watch a bit of news or read and I almost always tend to crack salty pumpkin seeds or lick peanut butter or snack some dry dates... ughh.
