I appreciate the honest assessment of.lack of nutrition teaching in medical school. As an RN in the US, it is outside my scope of practice to Rx medications, so I do extensive education on nutrition for my patients. Part of my job is to teach my patients how to reduce the risk of returning to the hospital. Nutrition is SO IMPORTANT!!!! People are eager to learn because it's something they can control. I've asked many docs in each area I've worked (Nephrology. Cardiology, Orthopedics, Neurology, and currently GI!!) why they don't teach patients nutritional ways to help manage their health conditions. The answer is the same - they don't study that in school. All that to say - food IS medicine. If your nurse is trying to teach you about how to use nutrition to manage your health, please listen and ask questions, etc! We LOVE teaching these things!

One of the best and easiest to "digest" videos I've seen recently about real life, functional nutrition. What to include, what to eliminate, and most of all, why! Also dispels a bunch of myths about certain go-to and traditional foods. Great interview. So much great practical advice in context! And, btw, start your evening meal by FIRST eating a huge salad including every veggie in your fridge or freezer, a few chopped nuts, chopped/grated apples for sweetness, with a savory dressing, maybe chopped hard boiled eggs for protein. And then eat a protein (meat, fish)...but usually I'm too full for anything after my humongous salad. The order is important to avoid glucose spikes. And there's a glucose goddess online with useful specifics for a good intro to what both docs say in this video.

Almost every day i was having protein and my parents were worried about my diet but believe me i lost around 15kgs and never felt better. i took my vitamins and included good amount of protein and l cycled for 8-10 kms everyday. but things changed when i moved back to India. In India food is very cheap...believe me somehow it is cheap to eat street food than to cook at home and within two years i developed fatty liver, round belly, hair loss, and i look 10 years older. But i have had enough.. I have been avoiding sugars for a week and started cooking to avoid street food, taking vitamin d3 60000 IU per week and im already feeling great. Now my whole family is a huge fan of your videos and stopped going to a local doctor for nutritional adivise. I'm 118kg as of today.. but few months from now i will be proud of myself. I think the eating rice adds to the potbelly, especially if it is white rice. I noticed that in some Mexican men, they eat tortillas and rice, Just imagine if you take few tortillas and place them in a bowel of water, they will swell which in turn it causes puffiness in the belly, not necessarily helping from just eating too many carbs.

Where most people have sinus or digestive reactions to dairy in USA but when they go to other countries abroad in Asia and Europe that's not the case. Dr. Berg! Wow! This is an eye opening interview that you have posted...Very educational and very informative session. Dr.Roshani was very knowledgeable and the questions raised during this interview were very apt and discussed multiple options for vegetarians to achieve a full fledged protein diet. Thank you very much for this "Indian" angle in this interview to address some dietary myths and misconceptions. Amazing job by both of you Doctors! 👏🏼 🙌

I like Doctor Sanghani. Great guest. Everyone do carnivore, then keto, if you are unhealthy. If you're not unhealthy, you will be, if you stick with the standard American diet.

My nutritionist told me to only eat 2 eggs a week. I think she was trained quite a while ago while my daughter went to college to be a nutritionist but doesn’t work as one. I also listen to you Dr. Berg so I threw that out the window and eat eggs when I want something quick.

Hi Doctor. I want to share a diet of the South Indian. Daily - 300 ml tea which includes milk. Idly made with rice & orid dhal - 450 grams. Rice - 350 grams Boiled or cooked vegetable curry - 50 grams. Snacks / nuts - 25 grams. This is what followed in my family for an adult. My uncle is 54 he takes insulin for the past 10 years. Bot belly is zero. But still takes insulin. Glucose level is 400

Did they get checked for insulin deficiency not just insulin resistance? This is not individual medical advice😅

Because having a pot belly is considered healthy here. Some well to do people even take that as a sign of prosperity.

Wow this was fantastic! I'm 36 year old women, I am a pescatarian but I mostly eat vegetarian on a daily basis. I used to work as a chef in a Japanese and eat so much fish and seafood everyday. I changed careers and became a pilates instructor and stopped working at restaurants and started to really experience a lot of bloating and digestive problems. I was thinking that it was maybe from talking hours on end and maybe they way I was breathing when talking. I make most of my food at home and had considered it healthy. I have fruit smoothies for breakfast or maybe some toast with avocado. A big bowl of white rice with some veggies, lots of squashes since its winter... sometimes I add a little tofu. Sometimes I eat some eggs. When I come home I usually have some other type of grains or maybe ill do rice and a mix of some other grains and veggies.. It's always been quite a challenge to get protein in. I was feeling really depleted and this week. Mixed in fish, extra nut butter, doubled the tofu, yogurt, and the iron supplement everyday that I always forget.... and wow did I feel a change in my overall energy level. I thought I was eating healthy making homemade meals but after listening to this episode, I realized now that my diet is very high in carbohdrates, starches, sugar... and the amount of protein is very minimal. This episode was enlightening! Thank you.

Indians should watch this video a hundred times, preferably once every day to just remind them what they are fighting 😂 is not easy but knowledge could change a whole generation towards better health, kudos!

The more I think about it I think because India was introduced to seed oils... That's what's killing them.

20 years ago in india they Open the Doors too fast food restaurants McDonald's KFC Pizza Hut etc 10 years later obesity in children went up Aston normally. The Old generation adults yes they do have potbellies but the young generation have started to go to gyms I think in another 10 years it will level out.
