I found this channel by pure accident last thursday. I was 337lb, with lots of health issues, highly hypocondriac, could not bear to hear anyting about the body or body functions without feeling physically bad and anxious. Still, for the first time in my life I was interested to hear, everything makes full sense, Dr. Berg's description of the pancreas body type fits unbelievably well with all my ills and the theory behind it all, what was wrong with me, how all my previous efforts failed, made perfect sense. I started watching one video after another.... Well, I started doing intermittent fasting (18/6, 2 meals a day) and planning my keto shoplist last since friday. Now is tuesday and I'm already 328lb, so it's a 9lb loss for starters. I know it's a LONG, LONG way to go, but I''m excited and it has been actually much easier than previous attempts at dieting. I will carry on, learn more and do more. Wish me luck.

@@maplesden6768 Thanks!! Today I weighted 316lb, so it's 21lb in little more than two weeks; I'm still perfecting and adjusting diet, but have totally cut sugars and flours, and I can do the 16/8 IF window pretty effortless. For those who are wondering if they should do this, I can say that my energy levels have already gone sky-high (people seem to think of an obese guy full of energy as odd, but I'm happy nevertheless), and hunger has not gone completely yet, but drastically reduced. IF is not hard at all and the benefits are quick to perceive!

My wife was diagnosed 5 weeks ago with T2D. Went keto with cruciferous veggies along with intermittent fasting, ACV and walks after meals. Zero sugars and carbs, besides the veggies.. Her blood sugar went from 300 to cruising around 90-120. I've lost 15 lbs and she's lost 12 lbs. Aches and pains are gone, tremendous mental clarity (she's doing math in her head, never could before!), tons of energy, skin is clear, ankles aren't swollen and waking up bright-eyed. Dr you just saved my life! I was killing myself and had no idea I was. I'm 32 been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2007 amd never was explained exactly what it was. I was just put on pills that I hated taking. In February my right quadriceps tendon broke my kneecap in half while I was just WALKING and my quadriceps muscle on my left knee tore completely off. I didnt do anything for that to happen. My muscles ache, my left big toe is stiff and my right middle finger is bent. I contemplated suicide because I was suffering so much pain and my body was falling apart. To add insult to injury I have a hemmorage in my left eye, found out my vitamin d level was 8 (dangerously low) and I was hospitalized for having low potassium. I felt like I was dying. While recovering from my knee surgeries I started researching on how to fix myself since my doctors are baffled on my condition and came across your videos. I started implementing what you suggest along with water fasting once a week and my fasting sugars are now under 120, my finger is straightening out, my big toe can bend now, my eye sight is improving and I feel sooooo good! All I can do is cry, Happy tears, because I have a 4 and a 5 year old and was thinking I may not live to see them graduate high school. Thank you so much for your videos! You are beyond awesome! I ate "healthy" was contemplating adding more and more exercise (at 47 yrs old, was daunting), then tried IF and shed 25lbs. I also was getting prostatitis and was fearful it could turn into prostate cancer. I truly believe IF alleviated the condition. Thought my story was great until reading this from you. Again, please make a video, I believe there are many people that are pre-diabetic, and have no idea. the healthcare industry just treats the symptoms and people are dying.

Fix your diet before getting into higher intensity exercise. You can’t fix a bad diet with exercise. Walk before your first meal, and last meal of the day. The weight literally falls off once your body starts fixing insulin resistance. Cut out processed sugars grains and crappy oils. I am 53 and haven’t felt this good in 25 years Joint pain is gone. A1c is now perfect. I was on cusp of getting the prediabetes dx. Dr. Berg may not be a fitness guru, but I respect his knowledge of nutrition and insulin. I only knew what my body actually responded to so I didn't listen to them. I cut out bread and sugar. It works.

I never feel hungry in the morning and my personal trainer INSISTED that no matter what you got to have breakfast.and also suggested snaking so 5/6 meals! often i was forcing myself to eating. I am now focusing on just 3 meals and i feel much better. THANK YOU SIR.

Jayendra Lakhani What the Doctor needs to know and understand that the only way to speed up the metabolism is by building more muscle mass by eating high protein+ low carb and lifting weights, muscle is living tissue and the cells are constantly feeding and consuming calories to stay alive, that is why bodybuilders can eat up to 5,000 calories a day and keep a low body fat, It's as simple as that, muscle eats the fat.
@LindaEaves6 жыл бұрын
Is the body having a low set point? How long has the person dieted? Are there fatty liver issues? Is the person insulin resistant? What about gender or age? Estrogen levels? The doctor is saying that there are cellular issues needing to be addressed, along with food combinations in order for the fat to be burned. If it was that simple and bodybuilding was effective for all, then there would be lean people all over the world. The issues are more complex and a person needs to find out what works for them. Giving general blanket advice like this is harmful to people who are insulin resistant with metabolic syndrome issues needing to be addressed.

How's it going? Can we have an update? I'm really interested.
@joannecrack24015 жыл бұрын
@@_JohnDoe I've been on a ketogenic diet for the past month and on day 28 I had lost 12 lbs. Start weight 162. I'm 5' 5" tall and just turned 57yo. I have been challenged with cancer for almost 15 years. Besides dealing with pain and getting tired easily (chemo does that), one of my main issues is "eating". I was on a feeding tube and then my nutrition was "Boost Plus Calories". I'm sick of all that so have been experimenting with foods and liquefying them. Eg. Mashed potatoes laden with gravy to get it all down. I can boil pasta double time and mash it enough to get it down but add liquid, eg... VH Garlic sauce.... Next thing I knew I was a painful blob sitting in a corner doing nothing with my life. If I went to a 3 hour family function it fried me for 2 days. Just travelling from here to there beat me up. So enough is enough is enough already and I needed to take control of my life and with friends living the ketogenic life style I turned to them and the internet. I've done my homework for the most part. I am eating no more than 20 carbs a day... high fat and watching my protein intake. I do use a macro counter but I don't keep a journal. I want to try to keep it really simple but I also want to be sure. My ONLY concern is, am I taking in enough calories!!! I know that calorie intake is not as important as the "quality" of what I am ingesting and digesting but with that said, my calorie intake are still extremely low in my opinion. I just don't know and cannot find anything on the internet. My "Carb Manager" program suggest I have no more than 1,012 calories a day and then my macros are based on that but I'm only consuming anywhere between 300-700 calories. Is this OK???!!! I don't know yet. So I do 12 hour intermittent fasting all the time. I have "my" POWER COFFEE around 4am (Bullet Proof coffee that I add a home made mixture of particular spices to). I drink 2 about an hour apart... sometimes 3. I drink close to a gallon of water daily. Two or 3 times a day I have a big glass of water and add apple cider vinegar, Himalayan salt and a splash of lemon juice. If you don't like the taste of it just chuck it down and be done with it :-) A few times a week I will add some cayenne pepper to this water mix. I will have green tea in the afternoon and sometimes add ginger or my "spice mix". I've made my own bone broth and sip on that sometimes too - it freezes well in portions so it's quick & convenient too. Then I have my meal between 4-5pm. A meal example for me would be sockey salmon, (I'll have chicken/turkey/sardines/ham and occasionally beef), 2 fried eggs, maybe some cauliflower (I pretend it's mashed potatoes), and spinach. I love fish and spinach!!!! How do I liquefy all this for my individualized diet??? Well I take some bone broth and add the high fiber flax seed meal and it thickens it and I use that for gravy :-) I will also add some sour cream and/or a salsa sauce of sorts. I have nothing but water after my meal. I'm in bed between 8-10pm. All this to say I've NEVER felt better!!!!! That MCT oil (I call it coconut oil on steroids) gives me soooooooooo much energy that I've done my spring cleaning and it's just the beginning of Feb!!!!! I think my cleaning lady has just lost her job :-) I am so full of energy that I sometimes don't know what to do with myself. I don't exercise much but for small walks and I'll "dance" my way around the house. I do the odd squats... I will get into a small exercise routine but I'll never "work out"!! I still do get tired but then I'm a "wired-tired". I can cope with that for the most part. I've been on a kazillion different pain meds over the years without success but just this past fall I discovered an awesome pain remedy and it totally works and I'm so thrilled about that but it costs me min. $150.00 a month out of my pocket that I just can't afford but I will never go back to that pain so I just manage somehow. My specialist told me just this fall that my pain is directly related to my vast radiation and there is nothing they can do (like more surgury). WELL NOW....for the past week now, I have NOT taken this expensive pain med because I'm NOT feeling pain!!! Is it this diet??? Is it something that has naturally happened in my body??? I don't know!!!! I don't care.... I'm not only feeling soooooooooooo waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better with an energy level I haven't had in forever and no severe pain (it was on a scale of 1-10, a continuous flare of 14).... many days were spent in bed!!! Not anymore!! Whooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooo!!!!! I do not have a weight goal. I will know when I feel good about my weight.... I'm thinking around 120lbs or so. I am doing this for a ketogenic life style and the weight loss is just a bonus. With my circumstance as they are I do have to work at ensuring I am getting all the good nutrition I need... potassium, magnesium etc.... so this continues to be a work in progress. I will NOT go out and pay for all these advertised Keto this or Keto that. My friends never had to plus I've heard and read too many stories about them. Like I said, I want to keep it simple and carefree.... low carb & high fat with a proper ratio of protein. Oh and I've fasted once for 48 hours at the beginning of this diet. Today I am choosing to have a "liquid" day. I can't call it a fast because I'm having my POWER COFFEE and that breaks any fast. So that's my story and how I'm working things and so far it's all working for me. My only QUESTION is..... IS say, 500 calories a day OK as long as your macros are in balance??? I'm feeling GREAT after a month with lots of energy and drinking plenty of water and trying to keep up on proper/good nutrition. I REALLY wish I could find something on this. They say eat when you are hungry and I do and they say stop when you are full.... but to get more calories in, by the time I'm done my meal I'm stuffed. I don't want to eat 2-3 meals a day because every time you put something in your mouth it spikes your insulin and I don't want that either. Besides, I'm just not hungry. I'm coming off a 100% Boost diet so I'm used to not "eating". I also have no cravings because I haven't been able to eat chips and cupcakes, donuts etc for years so certainly not an issue. I wish everyone else a great journey on their Keto diet/life style. I sure would love to hear your story an how you are all doing with it and if anyone can help me out with suggestions/ideas and answer my "calorie" issue I'd be very grateful. Cheers all. Joanne

I am so happy to have discovered you. I am pre diabetic and I really eat healthy but I struggle with my weight and everything that you are explaining it truly makes so much sense. I will definitely follow your recommendations plus I will add Apple cider vinegar before meals. And lately I’ve been skipping breakfast and I only have two meals but I was snacking in between with non fat Greek yogurt with berries and that really raises my insulin so I am stopping that. Thank you again for this valuable information.

His advice on eating when hungry is so true, people don't realize how long they can go without going hungry, in some parts of words people fast from dawn to dusk (normally 13 hours) and usually don't feel hungry until the last hour. also eating on a schedule is partly responsible for gas and shorten breath and drowsiness. the idea is not to eat when you are starving, just until you are almost about to go hungry. Besides all food taste good when you are hungry.
@cherryjack66827 жыл бұрын
I don't agree with that since you can induce that artificially by habit. If you will organize your meals (no matter how many) in the same way for few days, your brain will register that frequency and will "warn" you that he's hungry around those specific hours. Try it and you will see.

Believe me I have tried every diet in the world and it always crept back to 152. Thank you Dr. Eric for now I am in control and I will achieve my ideal weight of 125. So far I have lost 15 pounds in four weeks and I have never ever felt better. I am already fasting😊. And believe it or not since I work in the travel industry I don’t have to travel with snacks or drinks or a freaking candy bar in my purse anymore I can go around the world and not eat for a while. For me that is a blessing and no stress while working. What a huge relief. And, those two guys I had that caused my set point: are on Keto also.

Hello Dr. Berg. I know this video is older, but I have been watching EVERYTHING I can on IR to repair my digestive system etc. After looking at your percentage list..I realized that what I thought was a "healthy " first meal of the day IS NOT! Nonfat, unsweetened organic yogurt with organic mixed berries. Fairly high percentage on the list..I have been intermittent fasting for 2 weeks and not losing any weight ( aiming for 17 lbs) so I have decided to change my first meal around noon to eggs with cheese and vegetables and sometimes 🥓 bacon. I am not a big meat eater but I do miss my rice toast and pasta. Sp for awhile anyway I am beginning this new plan to see if my setpoint will break. I will keep in touch. Thank you ❤

I walk most people under the table, easy. 5+ miles a day. You can still be fat and exercise. If you are or were heavier, it's not the same as of you never were fat. Even dogs. In my view this video is the best Dr. Berg ever put out. I used to be a banana girl (4 cases of 40# a week). Now I see why I did not do that well on that diet even though I was getting very high potassium. I was spiking my insulin to 84% and becoming pre-diabetic! Now on keto I do much, much better, with a consistently high energy level and good sleep. As an added bonus the color is coming back to my cheeks too. At 74 I consider this a new lease on life.

Where are you getting your potassium from after you stopped eating bananas? I have potassium deficit. But whenever i eat banana or potato which has high potassium level, my stomach gets bloated and i can feel that it is not getting digested well. I usually want to throw up but i get lot of muscle cramps and i do need that potassiums. Can you give me advice on what you changed in your diet so that you still get potassiums? Thank you.

Tsendee Ts Jola ! To the rescue ! Potassium is a mineral and minerals come from the ground. Green leafy vegetables are high in potassium. Please check dr Bergs video on Potassium, he explains very well there ! Have ACV 2-3 times a day . Sounds like you are lacking hydrochloric acid / stomach acid hence you can’t digest food properly. In addition consume sauerkraut pickes in brine olives kambucha tea to increase stomach acids. Do not take calcium carbonate. It lowers stomach acid ! Drink water with sea salt. Good luck

Wow I've always wondered how my grandmother and her sisters managed to live over 100years old on coconut, palm and palm kernel oils, leafy green sauces and basic fermented African foods...She always had soft boiled duck eggs...Her youngest sister died at the age of 110 with good eyesight, no diapers and was mobile...We nicknamed her 'The Fossil'...Most Ghanaian carb dishes are highly fermented; stinky and sour but yummy...lol

I do not know much, but have been watching ketogenic videos like a mad ! and from what you just shared, and what I have learned so far, that sounds like a perfect diet!!!! you mentioned duck eggs, (free range of course! not corn fed) fabulous super food! and fermented foods, perfect, so good for the body and digestion etc. And coconut oil, amazing... for avoiding diabetes etc, and I believe good for the brain! And leafy greens, and I bet organic...I am guessing not much or any sugar? processed foods! or wheat? Ok I am MOVING to Africa now.... No wonder she lived too a 110~ ! I bet she was walking in her 8 month of life as well! I read about that too, African babies walking then, (there motor skills are more developed from breast feeding and the mother carrying them all the time on the hip or back). I tried that with my daughter, she never sat in a stroller (or car seat) and was walking in her 9 month and is still a brainiac and going to medical school in the next couple of years

I've been doing intermittent fasting for the past 10 days and went from 61kg to 57.1kg so almost 4kg lost in 10 days ( almost 9 lbs). I skip breakfast, don't snack and eat 2 meals a day. This definitely works. I don't exercise at all. I eat fairly normal meals: scrambled eggs, a burger with veg, chicken curry, soup etc. All homemade though. I even had a little bit of bread with butter and some dark chocolate (a few little chunks, not the whole bar). If I was stricter with my meals I could have lost even more, but I'm fine doing it that way as it turned out I have a problem with my thyroid so I need to sort it out too. I'm constantly cold and tired.

Thank you so much for giving us this information in a clear, concise manner. I think al lot of people just give up as they age because we follow the “rules” and our weight keeps going up and our bodies start breaking down. I don’t know which is more concerning, doctors not knowing this stuff or knowing it and not passing it on.
