Thank you Dr Fung and Dr Berg I almost died last year from health problems my liver, lungs and kidneys were shutting down . My doctors didn’t know what to do. I was in the hospital for almost a month. When I left the hospital I was on 19 different medicines including 2 for insulin. The super high dose of Prednisone I was on spiked my blood sugar super high. I was told by everyone that I was too young to be this sick. I cried out to God for help. On one of my hospital visits one of my doctors said the same thing. She said “You are too young to be going through this. These are diseases that old people have. God wants us to have an abundant life.” I was in shock. None of my doctors had ever said something like that to me. I fell asleep that night in the hospital watching a tv show. When I awoke the next morning which was a Sunday morning a preacher was on tv preaching a sermon on “Living life Abundantly” which referenced John 10:10. He said Jesus wanted us to have a life in it’s abounding fullness of joy and strength for mind, body and soul. I knew this was confirmation for my prayers. Randomly Dr Berg and Dr Fung videos started appearing on my KZbin feed. I followed their advice and now I am off ALL prescription medications. The Keto Diet and IF literally saved my life. Dr Berg and Dr Fung were the answer to my prayers. Thank you for saving my life!

Dr. Berg is an excellent listener, I'm impressed. He has a track record of communicating well: clear, concrete and concise wellness facts. The receptive side of communication is like an entirely different language. He seems fluent in both. Here, he does not interrupt his guest, yet he isn't spacing out; he gives frequent small non-verbal cues that he is paying attention. I love being able to see both sides in a conversation, you have the opportunity to learn about both parties. Kudos to Dr. Berg.

Just a word of thanks to you two gentlemen. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in november 2017. My cholesterol and triglycerides were way high as well as my blood pressure. Was on metformin 1000mg/day and despite all the meds, my sugar levels were still not within reasonable levels. Weight was over 260 lbs ( my scale just could not go any higher ). Doctor was about to increase my medications when I started to watch what you guys were saying about ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting. So I just followed your advice, knowing full well what my doctor told me about my condition ( chronic and progressive, with only getting higher doses of meds ). As of now, I have lost more than 70 lbs with the ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting and walking 40 minutes daily ( I was doing a 18 hour fast / 2 meal a day regimen ) and now, just to finish losing the last few pounds, I regrouped all my caloric intake to one meal a day ( so called 23 hour fast ). This morning, my blood sugar levels are at 4.6 mmol/l and my last A1C check ( 6 weeks ago is 5.5 mmol /l ). Triglycerides are 0.78 ( 1.46 is about the normal standard ) indicating that I am burning up fat. I do not hunger and my energy levels are like never before. At age 57, all I can say, I never felt better in all my last 30 years. next week, I am going to see my doctor and he asked me to stop taking the metformin to see where my blood sugar levels stand. It has been more than 10 days and all of my readings are averaging between 4.6 and 5.6 . Never will I go back to living with my carb diet that got me in such a mess.The food industry is telling you lies! As for you Dr. Fung, you are a Canadian physician. You must break this out to all Canadians suffering from diabetes. I live in the province of Quebec and over here, about 10 percent of the population has diabetes and it is a burden to our health system. By the way, refined carbohydrates are poison. And for all of rest you..... it works, at first it's not easy, but with perseverance and some failures you can pull this off. Keep up the good work and again Thank you !

@Caspean Sea Under supervision of my MD, bit by bit, I lowered my intake of metformin and day by day i monitored my blood sugar level, until i was completly off the metformin . Not only the met, but the blood pressure meds ( lost nearly 100 pounds . Now, I feel 20 years younger and life is great even during the pandemic. More ready that ever to face off this with a way better immune system, I must strain that once you are doing no carbs, your primary fuel source is fat.But never blend fats with a glycemic diet. This is for the rest of your life.However i do cheat ( on family occasions or weekends). A1c runs about 4.8 to 5.6 , so this where i am now and never ever will i go back to what made sick in first place.

@@retroriff are you still diabetic? I know it sounds redundant. but i am curious is you become healthier but still have the insulin problem. I would like to share this with some of my family.
@retroriff4 жыл бұрын
@@rmoreno1826 I am no more suffering from diabetes. On weekends, i eat things that others do. My system is no longer resistant to insulin which means when i consume a high glycemic meal such as a chinese buffet with a generous dessert my blood sugars are normal ( 4.8 mmol/dl ) . The key is insulin resistance which dr Fung speaks abundantly. Once you have destroyed your resistance to insulin ( some people take more time than others ) everything falls back into place. I still do intermittent fasting combined with OMAD whit a low carb diet on weekdays and all is ok. Just like this way i live now. My fiend was diebetic and had stage 4 prostate cancer and he is cancer free now, after a 32 day long fast and many months after, his blood sugars went normal. Justin Kerns I’m sure there are doctors out there trying to share information on true health with their patients-Trying to educate them and peel away years of indoctrination from the food industry giants in cooperation with government and media. It’s no easy task! Some patients would rather rely on medication. Others may not be able to face the discipline, or be desperate enough to hear. I wonder how strong a grip on medical school the big pharma and big food industries have...to deny doctors the kind of true education in nutrition that would put the anti-health industries out of business. We need Drs. Berg and Fung, and Drs. Becky Gillespie and her husband Keith...obviously people’s lives have been saved because of them.

@@thestraightroad305 Doctor's by nature tend to believe what they spent $$$, time, and effort learning. Pharmacist, nurses, and dietitians do too. It is counterintuitive to believe everything you were taught is wrong. It generally takes many years of real world observation to convince yourself that what you were taught is wrong. The medical profession is like a Church. Going against the official dogma you were taught is very hard and may have consequences. More, and more medical professionals are learning and teaching the truth. If you show up 40-50 lbs lighter, with better labs for your appointment, most will pay attention. 21:07 "Fasting is hard..." I just want to point out that fasting is a LOT easier if you are already fat adapted, IE, you've been on Keto for a while. When you are carb addicted, fasting is painful in the extreme, as your body really is starving, it's starving for carbs and cannot easily mobilize fat for fuel that it could otherwise replace the carbs with. When you are keto/fat adapted, your body is never actually starved for fuel, it has fat reserves, it 'knows' it has fat reserves, and it is easily able to mobilize that fat to weather the fast (which is for many of us, half the point). By all means, follow Dr. Fungs advice and learn to fast regularly, but I highly recommend being solidly into eating keto for at least a month or two first. I am by the way a regular faster, in addition to being keto/OMAD (One Meal a Day). I do a one day fast at least once a week and I do a three day fast once a month. As I write this, I happen to actually be on day three of one of those monthly total fasts. I am not hungry.

Getting to hear Dr. Berg and Dr. Fung have a conversation on nutrition and health is, to use a sports analogy, the equivalent of watching an all-star game, where the best of the best are playing. There are many great doctors, researchers and professors, who advocate for low carb and intermittent fasting, who I refer people to when they ask me how I lost my 100 lbs, but the two professionals I refer people to the most are Dr. Berg and Dr. Fung. Both of these men have a away of cutting through the confusion that usually mires nutrition discourse, and they are so talented in conveying such information to the lay person, while at the same time making a cogent case for their position that would satisfy those who are well versed in the science. I simply can't think of two better emissaries for promoting low carb and intermittent fasting to the world.
@alphacause6 жыл бұрын
Nancy Fahey, your skepticism towards doctors is understandable, given that they have been, over the past few decades, the purveyors of some pretty bad advice, especially in the realm of nutrition. So many doctors have acted as vehicles for spreading of the low fat/high carb message, lending a deeply flawed nutritional idea, unwarranted credibility. The good news is that for every doctor who still holds to the low fat/high carb mantra, more and more have been examining the science, and advocating low carb. Hopefully their numbers grow in advocacy of this way of eating, so that they can return some credibility to their profession.

That's honoring your guest because that's the very reason why they are on your show so they can share their ideas. Dr. Fung speaks coherently, I really enjoy listening to him. Overall, this interview is hands-down one of the best interviews I have ever watched/listened to. A lot of gems here. Thanks a lot for this!

Totally agree and was also thinking it would have been an added bonus if Sten Ekberg had been part of it too. Love all three.

Thank you, Dr. Berg. This is the first time I have been able to listen to Dr. Fung uninterrupted. Thank you, Dr. Fung, for sharing this invaluable information and research. Thank you both for making this knowledge available to us. Much, much love and appreciation!

I like Dr. Berg, he's such a humble guy, giving the stage to Dr. Fung leaving his ego out of the equation. I'm sure he was familiar with 90% of what Jason Fung was talking about. This is how a good interview is run! Thanks guys...

He doesn't say anything because he wants to understand the next lie fung is talking about. High glucose and insulin is because of intramyocellular lipids blocking use of glucose. He doesn't even say plant based diets reverse heart disease
