Middle Tennessee-it’s always cornbread dressing on our table. I add sautéed celery and onions, and sage. I’ve never added white bread or crackers to dressing, but might need to try that now. I wish I had the perfect cornbread recipe. That’s one thing I wish I had learned from my mother in law. She made the most delicious , crispiest cornbread I’ve ever had! ❤

Thank you for this fun and interesting video; it's good to see you back on here! I know exactly what you mean about southern cooks not having a "recipe" for this. After much "encouragement," my maternal grandmother finally wrote down the ingredients and kind of a "procedure" for her cornbread dressing, which my mom gave me several years ago. I really treasure it (especially since it's in my grandmother's handwriting); as she passed away in 1988. For regional reference, we're in NC. My grandmother lived all of her married life in NC but was born and raised in Arkansas. Her cornbread dressing is very similar to yours. Happy Thanksgiving! 🧡🍁🦃🙏

I was born and raised in Mt.Vernon oh. We always had bread stuffing or dressing we used those names interchangeably. Onion and celery were added with sage and sometimes giblets.😊

My mother in law finally wrote down amounts and ingredients for me. Lol. She said it was hard! Her girls had helped her several times and she just expected them to know. I helped once and she wrote it down for me.

I've only ever made stuffing, but we grew up calling it dressing so I call it dressing. Stale bread, sometimes a bun or two. Butter, onions, stock and seasonings. I like to sneak dried cranberries in it but my family members aren't a fan. Lol I never stuff the turkey. It's made in my crock pot. Yum! I must say though I LOVE cornbread and just may have to try some southern cornbread dressing. I've adopted quite a few recipes from my southern friends that we never had. Cornbread, biscuits, sausage gravy, pot of beans, chicken fried steak....okay I'm hungry now. 😆

Cranberries in dressing sounds delicious! You definitely need to try some of our southern dishes. Hard to beat pinto beans and cornbread, and cornbread dressing is the best comfort food! Enjoy exploring those recipes. 😊

Great video! i had a friend that put pieces of chicken in her cornbread dressing. My mouth is watering for stuffing and dressing. My grandmother used to make stuffing with chopped up raw chicken livers.
