She addresses every blunt question with such wisdom and retrospect. What a boss!

Drew seems to be a lot more mature and wise at this young age than Barbara Walter's, who constantly picks on and tries to draw her out about the negative things in her young life. Drew took those negatives and made them turn her into a wonderful kind warm hearted human being. She is a prime example of "learning from one's mistakes". Very wise young woman as opposed to the older sensation seeking Barbara Walters.

I used to watch Barbara Walters around this time but I didn't realize until recently that she's not a very good interviewer. Drew completely outclassed Walters. Walters is demeaning her with every word that comes out of her mouth. Walters is obviously trying to get a rise out of Drew, whether it be anger or tears, but Drew doesn't give her anything. Though Walters uses that against Drew by making her seem dumb and out there. I honestly don't understand why Walters was so highly regarded. Her motives in this interview are obvious and obnoxious.

She moved so much forward in her life and intentionally. Readily. That she couldn’t even begin to look backwards or reverse progress just because Barbra spoke or asked about it aggressively. Barbra is known for whatever- cutting to the facts, but that doesn’t make her a good interviewer, only a good reporter. A good interviewer gets the information while respecting the make up of a person, and knows how to use proper social etiquette. Barbra tries to look like a saint while she makes others uncomfortable and then they are just spoken bad about if they lash out at her. The interviews would be entertaining if the interviewees lashed out, but this one is different. Drew knows social etiquette AND honesty. She had self control, gave the information to spread awareness, and left us inspired- not dramatically entertained. She left us pieces of knowledge and hope- she made this interview good for Barbra because of her own response. I love Drew and happy she is so sturdy in her character, so self aware, and optimistically hopeful. I love the change and love how the KZbin thumbnail for this is: Drew Barrymore interview with Barbra Walters. Walters’ name last and under hers. Drew is the star and she actually lives her life, not questioning others about theirs, as if we really had any right to look at it from the other ends of our glasses. Love you Drew.

I think it was crazy how (im the same age as her so put that in mind when reading this... she is Feb 22 1975 and i am April 29 1975 so 2 months difference, thats important for what i say next...) we ALL were experimenting with drugs and drinking in our teens, and yet when Drew did it, the world was like "oh no... shes lost her mind! Lets watch!" Seriously the only difference was when she started as a 9 year old. But thats not what was blown all over the world in tabloids. It was her teen years that was all over tabloids. When child actors go through their teens, its literally the exact same life as us regular teens in the 80s and 90s, but hers (and others, not just Drew) are publicized. Ridiculous. Also, imagine Barbara in any normal life situation where she insults your entire family. If she talked shit about my grandpa (who WAS my best friend in childhood), Barbara would be speaking her Rs correctly from the wallop id give her jaw.
