Im 44. I wrestled for 4 years. I was never a Punk fan. I didn't see his early work. I only became a fan due to AEW screwing him & I respected the fact he told the truth threw that entire ordeal. It drew me away from AEW & back to WWE when I was anti-WWE FOREVER. I was a WCW guy who left during 2002-2006 when Vince killed the business. However I'm a HUGE fan of Drew. This guy needs to win vs Punk. As much as I love Punk I think Punk knows what's good for business. Punk takes the L - proves he can still work - which is the point & then puts on a banger against Seth. Then he can go to Mania against someone else. That's the way it works. I hope we see that.

Where the kayfabe gets exposed is where McIntyre says that "Punk was given everything he wanted" back when he first entered the company, which is a vast exaggeration at minimum. It's also ironic that he has a very....Punk-esque attitude. I'll go so far as to guarantee that Punk has a lot of input into the creative decisions behind this Feud of the Year. It has similar vibes to his feud with MJF a couple of years ago in AEW. And I'm equally certain that McIntyre is having a blast working with him, because as I can testify after being a fan of this business for over four decades, this is what *professional wrestling* is all about.

He's gotta realize, deep down, that Punk isn't a cancer or poison to WWE, he's bringing out the best in Drew, they had the most anticipated match at SummerSlam.. who else would Drew have that with? He can only wrestle Rollins so many times. He's gotta love the eyeballs that are drawn to him because he's involved with Punk. At the end of the day, it's about butts in seats, and Punk still brings that, and still gets a much bigger reaction than McIntyre does if we're being honest.

I will put it out here, I believe that although there has been an issue between Drew and Punk, that they have buried the hatchet. The photo of Drew and Jungle Jackoff was taken with Punk's blessing, Drew said it himself. If Drew truly hated Punk, he wouldn't need Punk's blessing and wouldn't be working together on everything every step of the way during this storyline.

But Drew didnt make it easy on Bret and gave him a solid run for that title. Im proud of Drew and happy for him. Not to mention i dont have to hate on punk half as much now that Drew is around. Watching the Drew/CM Punk feud and seeing all the screw overs Drew has had to take with telling that story, I hope Drew gets a huge Wrestlemania payoff at this next Wrestlemania, just like Cody was able to "finish his story" after all the roadblocks he faced. Drew has been asked to do a lot for the WWE over the past few months (even after he was fired a little while back), taking a backseat to Punk and allowing Punk to constantly screw him, even in his homeland of Scotland. Drew can be the face of the WWE - hopefully HHH and the team give Drew the title and allow him to be the champ and the face of WWE for multiple months - similar to Roman and now as Cody is currently doing. HHH has asked Drew to put off the big payoff to have an even greater payoff in the end - again similar to Cody. He's able to play a heel and people still love him - he's truly himself, which people love - and he's a great guy on top of that. Great interview - thanks for sharing!
