People come across or are guided to new music all the time then learn of the history and background of the song! I've done it several times for example Tiffany- I think we're alone now was a cover of a 60's song; Whitney Houston mutilating Dolly Patrons Always love you - a lot of people think that WH version is the original when it's not!

@lbialk if you're doing a cover of a song, yes, totally agree with you, but, when you're just reacting to a song, it is not the same! When I came across this version, I had totally forgot about the original version and was actually reminded of it because of a reaction video! A lot of young people today just can’t appreciate the pure talent of the bands that started the metal movement. I’m not lumping you in with them. Without the technology to overproduce and cover up musical mistakes the 60’s and 70’s metal gods still made pure gold. Do an honest and pure musical talent reaction to War pigs by Black Sabbath then tell my if I’m wrong. Enjoyed your reaction here. Update: after watching your “down with a sickness “ reaction I want to suggest that you really concentrate on the guitar talent and don’t get too distracted by the lyrics or video. It is the biggest Anti-War song of all time but the guitar and construction of the song is simply unmatched. I look forward to watching you review it. Enjoy!

The Sound of Silence", originally "The Sounds of Silence", is a song by the American music duo Simon & Garfunkel. The song was written by Paul Simon over a period of several months in 1963 and 1964. ... The growing airplay led Tom Wilson, the song's producer, to remix the track, overdubbing electric instruments and drums. Released: September 12, 1965
@thomasschmidt18365 жыл бұрын
Was originally written and performed in 1963 by Simon & Garfunkle. The song is permeated with metaphores and is truly timeless when the context translates decades later. When written, the Viet Nam war was ongoing, there was segragation and civil unrest in the United States. It was commentary on the dark times as seen through the eyes of Simon & Garfunkle and reimagined by David Draimen

Like the idea of reacting to metal, plenty of folks do, but a huge issue is that metal is a massively broad and flexible genre. "Metal" can range, as you've seen from a heavy/hard rock like Disturbed or newer Metallica, up to symphonic sounds like Epica and Nightwish, across to folk metal like Eluveitie, thrash such as Slayer and older Metallica, then Slipknot, Carcass, Wintersun, Jinjer, Meshuggah, Iron Maiden, Strapping Young Lad, Behemoth, Be'lakor, Amon Amrath and so many others all have a distinct sound. You take a Disturbed track, even at their heaviest and match it to a Cradle of Filth or Meshuggah song and you're not even in the same proverbial musical timezone. Nightwish, Epica, Arch Enemy and Jinjer all for example have female vocalists but the sounds the bands produce are vastly different (Epica and Nightwish being largely symphonic and Arch Enemy and Jinjer more classic death). Reacting to Metal is not a simple and singular thing. I love Be'lakor - Suns Delusion, Eluveitie - Tegernako, Gojira - Flying Whales and Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars but not sure how you or your sister(??) would cope with them, they are a whole gradient above what you're listening too.

So many reactors are disappointed when they don't hear heavy metal to begin with, they completely miss the point of the works and what David and Disturbed were trying to get across with this version. The original performed by Simon & Garfunkle in 1965 was a warning about surrendering to the "god of technology," and David Draiman's performance is castigating us for not paying attention. What I'm wondering is... What kind of music do you usually listen to? I'm glad you decided to educate yourself, but seriously. How does one hear the sound of silence even on memes, and decides not to hear the full song? I usually listen to songs that I find on memes. And seriously, what kind of music do you usually listen to? Trap? Hip-hop? Pop? Music is an art, and the real art is beyond the mainstream. The mainstream is money-grabbing trash.
