Lost mine 3 years ago to the same, she lied she cheated and we deff went thru some shit. She finally apologized the night before and we sat down and had a really good talk, it started to turn south at the the end of the night. Her last words to me were “leave now or you’ll regret it”… I was just trying to tell her I loved her no matter what, go the call from her mom the next morning.

My wife and I met at karaoke. I was a rock guy and had to learn country to woo her. I memorized this song so I could sing it perfect with her. Long story short, we fell in love, got married and have two beautiful kids. But lately we've been struggling and hearing this version today made me realize I don't want to lose her and to get back to wooing her. Great job guys

That's the thing that is so hard to remember. You have to keep dating each other. I'm not talking about expensive dinners and gifts. Time and attention. That time you spent listening to each other, when you wanted to hear everything they said and know their thoughts. Devotion.

I’ve never been able to hear this song without fighting back tears, and plain rage for every man out there who’s been down this road, whether they made it out the other side or not. We’re given trials in life to overcome, but not all of them can by all of us who face them. We can have each other’s backs through those times, and it’s in those low times we see who our real brothers are.

@darkangel-ve8pn Since you asked specifically, my opinion is.... blood does not make you family. Some people just aren't good parents. For a large group of people, the best that they can hope for is to take the lessons you've learned good or bad and go out and build your own life. If you're dealing with grief or trauma over it, then go talk to someone and learn to move on. Being stuck in an emotional state is traumatizing itself. I know I have to create my own happiness. It no longer happens organically. Sometimes, I find myself feeling sorry for myself, mostly when I watch some unrealistic family scenarios on TV, but I remind myself that even the bible takes this stance on family. If you believe in Jesus, things are a lot easier. If not, then I'm sorry, friend, you will struggle until you find him. I will pray for you. As a matter of fact I just did. Have a good day.

@@MelindaDontuwanttono-uf8nx as the son of a pastor..beleif in Jesus made shit harder not easier…why? I learned he/it didn’t want me…I am now a reformed Christian no matter how badly I feel I will never go back to them or that weakness ever again…please do not assume that certain beleifs will just help people..they won’t…they dont…it is arrogant to think so…now..moving on..your right I did ask and I thank u for taking the time to answer…blood does not make you family I walked away from mine and found a new one ten years ago haven’t looked back sense however the rage..the pain..all of it never goes away I’m reminded of things every day every damn time I wake up…while I understand what ur saying you need to understand that this is a very generic reply on your part…some people have deeper problems then this…running to imaginary god doesn’t help us…running to a religion that people have to cherry pick just to swallow..Did you know in Leviticus it says to kill ur kid if they’re disrespectful? No? If u didn’t…cherry picking..if you did? More cherry picking..serious help only please not belief based bullshit that requires faith the antithesis of reason…to function…it doesn’t work for people with real issues the imaginary can only fix…the imaginary 🍻 I still thank u for your time spent talking to me etc but yeah…I am not a soft target with a weak underbelly ready to swallow anything just to save my soul make me feel minutely better because “oh now I’m special” nah that’s not for me it wasn’t then…baptized twice…not for me now oh right did I forget that my dad…an ordained pastor a man of god yada yada is one of the problems?

@darkangel-ve8pn Well it sounds like you have alot going on. I am a little confused. You eluded to the fact that you are not interested in an imaginary entity yet you said you were a reformed Christian? First and foremost (with no disrespect) I do not force my beliefs on anyone. I just know from my experience this is true for me. Since you referred to my statements as cherry picking I would like to point you to the book of Matthew where God speaks directly about what family means. Let's agree that the bible speaks on parables and it's up to you to decipher the meaning as it pertains to you. I don't know what you mean by "real issues"? You assume that I have not suffered with real problems because Jesus was my solution. You couldn't be more wrong. I have trusted science and watched as doctors gave up on my 25 year old husband and told me he would die. Wasn't much to do but pray at that point. You can believe me or not but after 15 minutes of removing him from the machines that he started to breathe on his own and survived. Have you tried therapy? No one is saying your weak. It actually sounds like you are trying to convince your self more than convincing me. I hear your pain and for that I'm sorry. I will still pray for you. Jesus did not tell us we are special as individuals.... he said we are all God's children. He said we will suffer as he did. He basically told us don't be so hard on yourself. The bible has been proven more than disproven. What I see is you have some deep seated problems steming from your childhood. We have that in common. Jesus did not solve those problems for me. He just helped me understand that I am not alone and I will make it through. All in all I hope I haven't offended you and I pray again that you find peace. Where ever that comes from.

@boeubanks7507

I didn't get the anger from it. The sadness came through on the male vocals, but the female vocals just came across kinda flat to me. She may have been going for anger, I can see that, but I just don't think she got there. Probably because she was curtailing her vocal range. It seemed like she was purposely singing on the low end and below her natural range. This just detracted from the overall performance. Anger is as much intonation as tone and timber. All of that said, this wasn't a horrible cover. It probably isn't fair to compare anyone to Allison Krouse when it comes to singing. I would give it 3.5 out of 5.

My wife showed me this cover a couple weeks ago (her being the country fan and me being pure metal). I couldn't believe what I was listening to. Astounding, I thought it was great. However, it was just right now that I watched the music video. This changes everything. The video adds a level of intensity and darkness I simply did not expect, even from a song like this. I am dumbfounded. Truly unbelievable. Well done when you can bring even a hardass like me to tears.

I remember when Brad’s song came out. Then I found Struggle later down the road. Now Struggles daughter is covering Brads song. I love how country is so intertwined. I saw Struggle live with Jelly and Yela in Greensboro and of course he brought Ms. Caitlynne out for their duets. I as a grown man cried multiple times during that show. Loving the family dynamic going proud and strong in the music industry. Making country real again

It keeps the sadness of the original but makes it feel so much more powerful. So much more emotional and desperate. Like at 2:41, the way she sings this part makes it cut so much deeper. I also lost a friend to this very thing after a concert in March 2022... I miss them all so damn much... I've had to talk countless friends out of it, as well as myself... the cover was phenomenal, Drew. Keep this good music coming. Ok... so I'm late getting here, but I gotta say, I am pleasantly surprised at how amaizing this sounds. I am very critical of music, especially covers and even more so when it's a cover of a song that was perfect as it was. Brad and Allison will forever be legendary for this song, but yalls cover certainly did it justice. Well done. Again, I'm late seeing this, but it still gets a 👍 from me.

The bottle of oblivion… thank you… I relate to that so much. That bottle made me lose my family..and still want it more to drown it out.. but it doesn’t work… I just become manic and more self destructive, because I hate myself and this life. It’s unbearable. But with what little bit of soul I have left… I love my son.. I love the man I lost… who can’t even tell me he’ll be there while I try to get better. It’s crushing..

Totally understand bud. I'm 44. Married my high-school sweetheart. We were young. Ended up having 2 daughters together. She cheated on me with my cousins husband! I was 27 when our marriage dissolved. I've been remarried now to a wonderful woman for 13 years! The scars and the memories always remain. The pain gets duller but never truly goes away. My past constantly haunts me and it's demons are always there. The what ifs, and the should've, could've , would've things are always in my mind to this day. The wounds and hurt are always there but don't let that define who you are!

@rayosborne8617 you're welcome. Just hang in there man. I was alone after my divorce for 4 and and a half years till I met my current wife. Every night that I didn't have my daughters with me I was in the bottle. It was the only thing that dulled the pain and what was always available. My girls don't speak to me much anymore. My ex wife and her ignorant family poisoned them against me. They're grown now. One is 21 and my youngest is 19. Hopefully one day they'll come around? I try to live each day the best I can in the way I know how. I wish I could say it's gets easier. Some days are OK. Other days not so much. My mind is my own worst enemy. I can't escape it. I know I did good things for my girls in the past but the only things I can remember are my failures. The good things and accomplishments are just a blur. It's a constant battle. Believe me, I get it.

The first time I saw Paisley's video I just about fell apart, as I have lost quite a few friends over the years due to drink. The combination of his and Allison's voice and the harmony ripped my throat out. Video didn't help either. ;) Love the way you did it, with the twist at the beginning.
