Also, I wanted to say that a doctor that has lost his hair, understands what patients are going through in recovering it themselves. So there is a shared mission -- a doctor who has a full head of hair might not have the same zeal and vigor to help others because they are less likely to empathize.

I don't agree. This would mean, that any doctor or person who did not have the same illnesses and problems isn't very interested in healing them or helping the people. There is a reason, why somone chooses a field in medicine, and most of the time it is a very deep interest in the field and in helping the people who suffer. You don't just walk into a store and choose a profession, this ist a lifetime dedication. Also, the human mind is much more complex than just "oh I know how you feel, I am now better at this". This would mean I need to look out for doctors without hair to get a better treatment. Your statement doesn't make sense. Sorry.

I’ve only ever ‘known’ you without hair and without knowing your back story. I just thought you were this cool, good looking surgeon who was at the top of his game but who had extra special qualities of humility, humbleness and humour shining through every video. It’s probably only now, looking back, that you can see the gift that all of your challenges were - who better could understand a client’s lived experience of losing their hair, whether it be via genetics, autoimmune conditions or chemo, than someone who has gone through it themselves. More power to you. I wish you continued success and above all, good health for you, your wife and adorable daughter.

@@JamesMadisonsSpiritAnimal I can imagine how painful that must be. Growing up there was a few guys that women straight up worshipped.. Everyone thought they were cute, and would spam every social media picture with praise. There was nothing special about these guys, they were just good looking that's it, everything was projected onto them. I just try and imagine how at 18 how drastically they would fall from grace if they had sudden hair loss. It's brutal to think of. I'm so glad I've not had any significant hair loss and I got in good shape, so I look good for my age, often mistaken for mid twenties when I'm 30.

My 19 year old son got alopecia areata last year. I was devastated and so was he, but your videos made us feel less alone and like we had good company. It's amazing how hair is linked so deeply to our sense of well-being. Seeing bald spots in yourself or someone is psychologically very difficult. It's not "Just hair". It's a constant visual reminder of something being wrong with you. His spots all refilled, but there's always the fear of them coming back. I feel stress is a HUGE component to this....

Stress has everything to do with this, I have a female friend with alopecia and when she changed her lifestyle and got more relaxed, her hair grew back. And allow me to comment something else: people's body react differently to stress- for instance, when I was REALLY stressed for several months I got diagnosed with lymphoma, out of the blue. I got cured (remission), but I'm pretty sure all that amount of stress has everything to do with my diagnosis

I'd like to comment that from my observation, autoimmune hairloss is due to decade(s)-long chronic stress (mental+physical) and also not sleeping. Fellow areata patient here. It wasn't until after fighting it for 8 years, I finally let go of a lot of things in my life and prioritize sleep more that mine stabilized. (Never getting back 100% to where i was before but at least i no longer look like a cancer patient and have people staring at my head) I have to add that if your body is tired and you lack sleep, exercise will make the condition worse. Also the need to consistently consume a lot of whole foods to keep any growth (supplements don't work as well).

My heart goes out to you and your family dr. Linkov. You haven’t have it easy. Life have a funny way for healing us balance things out. I’m just wondering if it ever crossed your mind to treat your body by backing you gut flora. Dr. William Davis has a book called ‘super gut’. According to him all illnesses including autoimmune diseases originate from unbalanced gut flora. It’s a wonderful book and highly recommend it. Instead of treating your illness, you just restore your micro biome. Appreciate your videos. Thank you. ❤️🙏🏻

Congratulations to you and your beautiful wife on her victory over “C”. I'm very happy for you and your family. Your family and friends must be delighted with the results. Hopefully there will be many more to come soon! I couldn't wait for the end so I started writing all this while you finish your explanation. I'm an 18 year old female... Haven't even stepped in college and have lost 60-70% of my hair (my mom has severe hairfall so maybe it's genetics) . I used to have really thick hair so the fact that my hair is less than almost everyone in my friends' group and extended family has really hit me hard. And this video has given me hope that if God is willing maybe my hair will grow back again as I'm barely an adult... Maybe everything will be fine eventually....I just need faith and patience.

What a story! It's not every day we hear a favorite doctor share his difficult personal struggles like you and your wife have been going through. I can somewhat relate to how disheartening losing that lush head of hair must have been. As a 72-yr. old, maintaining my once long thick mane, eyelashes and eyebrows has been a challenge. I've been subscribed to you for years but when this popped up, I wondered where your videos have been. I've learned so much from your compassionate explanations of what makes good vs poor cosmetic enhancements, that now I can often tell when someone's had their cheeks filled poorly, or lips done. Your love for this work shows. We're all thankful that your stress level has decreased, and your hair is back. You are deeply appreciated! janillingsworth7478, Please research a low carb diet, i.e. Carnivore, Keto or Lions Diet and anything inbetween. Many including myself are having tremendous success reversing autoimmune conditions by avoiding carbs. I've had Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Interstitial Cystitis, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and chronic pain associated with these...ALL of which have resolved or reduced greatly. I'd recommend you Google Carnivore Docs. Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is a common autoimmune condition. Forefront Health has a successful TX program. Dr. Elizabeth Bright explains why a high fat diet is helpful to heal the thyroid. Also, consuming fat literally stopped ALL cravings for sugar/sweets. EVERY nutrient required by humans can be found in beef, fish, eggs and more. Best wishes!
