Hi! I have a kinda serious problem. I was in class and I fell on the back of my chair, hitting my head and my braces poked my bottom lip making a like piercing but the hole didn’t go to the outside. Its numb the next day, I tried putting something cold but I didn’t feel the coldness when I put it on my lip. I’m kinda scared what should I do? 😰

Message to all my bros and sisters who are or have got those braces .... I know that shit hurts 😫 yeah I know they hurt freaking alot coz I too have them but remember those spacers, expanded, wires, bands and aligners they all are just a quiet tough obstacle we have to live with for few months or years for that beutiful teeth u gonna have 😀 so don't worry when u feel its unbearable cry a bit it will relieve u but just remember never to give up .. That numbing gel tip + warm salt water has been in heavy use this last week when I recently got a gum graft & the swelling caused my lip to develop an ulcer over a front bracket with the little stick part. That was worse than the graft site healing. It's mostly healed now, but the ulcer spot kept hooking on the bracket ;-;

i haver braces and i broke 6 brackets, a some tips 1. don't chew on any ice, or any gum, some freeze dried candy, or any gummy candies. may brake or bend brackets or wire. 2. eat freeze dried fruits like apple, bananas, pears, etc. 3. ask a ortho abt freeze dried candy or look it up. 4. stay away from biting any meatal items, will bend wires, brake brackets. 5. don't eat anything to crunchy, may brake brackets. have a nice day and that's all the tips I can give you today :)

It's been 6 years since I first got my braces. For 6 years I have not been brushing my teeth enough, I've always been missing my dentist appointments, I don't get them cleaned by my dentist. Now I have cavities on every single one of my teeth they are also starting to go back to how they used to be before I had braces on.

I got a waterpik and a oral-b IO9, but my orthodontist says they are bad, and I should instead use a manual toothbrush and interdental brushes. I'm not sure why my orthodontist feels this way, but I'm 1000% sure my oral hygiene is better with an electric toothbrush. I don't like ignoring the orthodontist's instructions, but my oral hygienist says my brushing is fantastic, so I'm thinking to maintain my current waterpik (and interdental brushes) + oral b io9 routine. I tend to brush too hard when I use a manual brush.

i think they say the electric brush is bad because it’s hard to brush the gum with the brackets on your teeth and they want to make sure your gums stay healthy during treatment. But i use an oral b io too and i haven’t had a problem either

Hi Dr Greg, I've had my braces for a year already and I'm still in the process of aligning my teeth. My orthodontist says that my teeth are exceptionally stubborn because I have dense bones around my teeth. Are there any other biology-related things that could prolong treatment? Have you ever had patients who have similar case to mine?

I was very frustrated as an adult to have braces put on in 2018 and I am "expected" to have completed my treatment in 2023. it's thought depending on the situation. my ortho company switched doctors on me 3 times so far and each have made different changes to my treatment. I won't be surprised if it takes longer than 2023 as it's much harder to do treatment as an adult than a younger person. Best of luck to you.

Had braces in 3 days and it sucks...it hurts, not like hitting your toe with a hammer, but like constant numbness in whole mouth. 2 years are a lot, but I guess the end result will be worth it. Dr. Have a question I have got my breaces in this days with my dentist which offers Ortho treatment also ..but since day one there where something fish about this office .. he doesn't find this tools that are needed he does not have what's is needed he just make me go in and my teeth are haft ways done 🤦‍♀️ I have been like this for 15 day .. is it normal for a orthodontist to say he doesn't have that's need 😳 can I cancel my treatment ?
