Drifloon is… Dangerous?

My favorite part of Drifloon's Pokedex entries is the one from Sun. Not only supplying that classic "steals your kids" spookiness, but also throwing in some rude humor about how it dislikes "heavy children". That is so wrong, yet so funny.

Personally, I never thought of this is rude humor so much as I did them having a harder time carrying off heavier children, but perhaps they don't always CARRY them off specifically, but even then I still wonder if Drifloon prefers lighter-weighted people in general, and small children just so happen to fit this preference the best. I'm not saying that Drifloon eat the children, but in a sense it could be akin to a food preference... - MoldiLollipop

like with banette, i think that drifloon “stealing” children is a misunderstanding. children are easily distracted by things like balloons so itd be easy for one to wander off after a drifloon and get lost, only for the parents to blame drifloon when it didnt do anything wrong. in the anime, jessie and james’s ekans and koffing said “there are no bad pokemon, only bad trainers”, and i truly believe that. i dont think any pokemon are as evil or malicious as some dex entries lead us to believe

Yeah, it is interesting, them being ghost types whose real defining traits are playing and drifting. I do wonder if the quest in Legends Arceus was meant to make it clearer its a misunderstanding.

I used a Drifloon on my playthrough of Legends Arceus since I picked one up in the early game. I honestly did not expect her to become the go to member on my team. When she became a Drifblim I was impressed with how good she was! She has so much HP, good immunities, and a wide range of moves. I already kind of liked Drifblim before but that affinity is so much greater now after having used one.

Drifblim is really handy in that game, especially because of mystical fire being very good for weakening alphas. I only wish it had flying STAB. Even a ~60 power one would be enough.

Difloons long thin appendages and Drifblims almost radial symmetry has always left me seeing them as being more akin to aerial Jellyfish. If we someday got a ‘missing link’ between Drifloon and Jellicent I wouldn’t be surprised.

Ghost type Pokemon have consistently had the coolest designs in the series. I personally love the rotund designs that Drifblim and many other ghost Pokemon have. It makes them appear imposing while also coming off as just exteriors for their actual ethereal bodies.
