Great episode! AP rounds are my go to attachment and I'm fairly sure that they do not kill dogs faster. I am certain that they do not do 200% damage to dogs, any gain would be much more minimal if one exists. While they don't do more damage to normal soldiers, I feel they're very important for 3 reasons: body armor, juggernauts, and cover. They ignore and therefore kill armored troops faster. Call it a damage reduction decrease, a damage increase, or whatever you like. They do increased damage to jugernauts which is especially useful on maniacs. Finally, there is cover which is by far the most important. This attachment allows assault rifles or better to shoot through average walls, floors, and celings like they were not there. I find it's particularly useful when paired with chrome lined or muzzle brake and an oracle.

I can't stand when people say FMJ or any form of it increases damage, or range. It sounds so dumb. As for the multipliers, this is a new myth to me. I hate that you have to do this every year but, thanks for making this anyway.

Thanks for the video Drift0r. I had originally thought that AP rounds ignored Juggernaut armour but you've cleared that one up nicely. I do occasionally run silenced weapons with AP rounds but it's nothing to do with cancelling out silencer penalties. It's more to do with making sure that if I'm up close to a target because of the silencer, the last thing I want is a Ballistic Vest spoiling the kill and giving them a chance to turn on me.

Vector with AP rounds and silencer or muzzle brake to wall bang with higher penetration while staying stealthy. AP rounds gives me a consistent time to kill on squadmates and people who love the ballistic vest.

I actually use AP a lot, I like to take out killstreaks and satcoms. It takes so many shots without AP, and I also like to shoot through cover/wallbang. AP is an awesome attachment.

AP rounds do go through riot shields. I have my shield gold and I've run into countless enemies just unloading everything they had into it with no effect. But i have seen guys with AP rounds shoot through it and kill me pretty quickly. In the beginning i thought maybe it was in my head but it just happened enough for me to know they definitely do go through shields.

It could just be the riotsheilds freaking out. One time, in BO2, someone shot through my friend's riotsheild with the remington at point blank range with the riotshield in between them, and my friend was at full health. No joke. And that was the final killcam, so you can't argue lag.

AP rounds do NOT go through the shield I've tested it with a friend using weapons like the CBJ-MS, Remington, most LMG's, all snipers with chrome liner and AP rounds. but there are some weird angles where the shields hit box doesn't work but that's only happens on a very rare basis. if you don't believe me test it out your self its not hard just go in a private match with 2 controllers and have one with shield and then you can test as much as you like.

Bob Stamos Okay, so you guys want a shield thats completely bulletproof and when you crouch it covers every inch of your body so nothing will harm you... really? If you really want to avoid getting shot or getting into gunfights that bad heres a tip, don't play the game. They need to remove shields from cod, they are fuel for trolls and dumb players. Its so enjoyable when I run into a shield guy, throw my stun, then waste my nade on his flak jacket, unload a clip into him while backing off to retreat only to have his teammate pick me off from the side. (won't even mention the c4/shield combo guy) This is just 1 of the few things in cod that are draggin on and killing the game for a lot of ppl, just like 2nd chance/last stand did, the riot shield has to go and when it eventually does cod will get a little bit better.

I use FMJ and Silencer because at range I'm usually shooting through a wall so shooting through a wall with a silencer is doing me below the minimal damage something like that, so with FMJ I can do slightly higher than minimal damage. It makes more sense if I could show it.

This should be a "Duh!" tip, but if you don't have an AP class (especially in HC) you should get one now. People are running ballistic vests all the time now, especially if they are in a party in which case they usually have at least two people running ballistics vests.

You can test the dogs if you make a hardcore match and earn the streak, then put both players on the same team. Also, with the wall thing... There are a few standard materials used, each with intrinsic qualities (concrete, brick, metal, dirt). Each material has a specific amount of damage it strips per cm/mm. This is why higher damage weapons (snipers) can shoot through some walls that lower damage (most subs) cannot. When the wall strips all the damage out of the bullet, the bullet stops. The AP bullets just cut that in half (approximately), lowering the stripped damage, thus increasing penetration distance and damage on the other side. Shields cannot be shot through because they have a ricochet field, not a wall barrier.

depends on your playstyle. Some people might run thermobarics or flashbangs with recon, throw them in a room and shoot the people through the walls. On blops 2 the thermal sights allowed you to see people within a metre of the wall you were looking at also, and the walls were much less damage resistant so it was fairly practical to just hose down walls.

I'd use silencer and AP to negate the reduction of damage through walls. Not just derpy. A silencer already gives pretty low penetration. Only way around that is AP rounds.

Drift0r, you could test the dog's health with normal and AP rounds by turning friendly fire on and just having you and your test dummy with the dog on the same team. Hope this helps!

You know, the main reason that people think that the Armor piercing ammo, or the FMJ ammo does more damage isn't completely their fault. It is to some extent for them being ignorant and not reading the actual description for the attachment, but it's also the CoD's fault. They were the ones that put the little green line showing that it increased damage, where the line showing how much damage the gun does. That's why so many people get this mixed up. If they were to just not put the line, and bold the things that it does do the damage to, then that would fix some problems.

My problem with FMJ is that it's way too situational for me to use all the time. Grip, silencer and a sight attachment always works for you, while FMJ is only really useful against killstreaks, which mostly sucks. Even though I feel FMJ isn't worth using I do think having a FMJ class is a smart idea when going up against Ballistic Vests users, because the vests are crazy OP.

I use AP standard with foregrip on the AK-12. I use it for the added wallbang ability and because I can't seem to avoid lobbies where every person on the other team is running support and dropping ballistics vests everywhere. Probably the only AR I can do that with though since the AK is one of the few with very usable iron sights.

There is something that may make people think that the AP Rounds go through Riot Shields. There seems to be some sort of exploit/cheat/hack that allows players to shoot right through riot shields as though they weren't there. It doesn't require AP Rounds, but players may use AP Rounds to disguise what they are actually doing. My friend was convinced that the riot shield could be shot through when we were playing a game of Domination on Octane because a player on the enemy team was clearly doing it. It then happened again, this time the enemy wasn't using AP Rounds, so we tested it and found that we were being cheated.

Only MW2 and BO2 had FMJ as far as I know. MW1 had Deep impact, BO1 had the Hardened perk and MW3 had the Impact profic. No idea why they keep chaning it.

well technically in the military the standard bullets used most of the time are FMJ so naming an attachment something that comes standard is kind of odd so they went with armor piercing because that lends itself to something different from the norm used for a specific purpose, not standard all the time like FMJ would be

Stu Pidface The same reason that they keep changing everything.. fear that players would complain that they are not trying to improve things. I find this problematic for example with the muting system in the multiplayer. It's been changed with every new COD release for absolutely no reason, and I think the muting system was already perfected by MW2 (where you can shut everyone the f*** up permanently). BO2 is quite handy as well, but muting players in Ghosts has been made really tideous.

FMJ is just a standard issue copper covered lead bullet, that most rifles carry ,it just means the bullet can travel further without making a spunky mess after 150ft or so traveled. This makes the bullet pierce through, in most cases leading to smaller sized wound. but the ricochet inside the body can have a devastating effect. Hollow point and soft tipped bullets are for use against soft targets only, such as animals or people, where as full metal jacketed bullets can be indiscriminately used against soft and hard targets. AP is a bullet that almost no armor or bulletproof vest can withstand, by the way, bulletproof vests don't exist. What you see in the movies are bullet-resistant vests, a more accurate term for modern body armor. If this game is trying to use physics based analogy's then, depleted uranium rounds for instance, take advantage of their high-density material, and is designed to retain its shape and carry the maximum possible amount of energy as deep as possible into the target. So yeah it should theoretically cause more damage. But what the hell do I know?

IMO both juggernauts need a buff…there was nothing wrong with them in MW3, slow health regeneration when hurt, and it took TEAMWORK to take it down. You shouldn't just be a one man wreaking crew when it comes to taking out high killstreaks. It takes teamwork to take down a battle helicopter, helo pilot, gryphon, etc.

I don't know if it was a psychological thing but, back in the day in mw2, it seemed like i got wayyyy less hitmarkers with snipers using FMJ, but on any other gun, didnt really make a difference

he explains how it doesnt raise damage on the other side of the wall kind of poorly. He was not wrong all he meant was that your bullets damage isnt reduced as much as it wouldve been without ap. so the bullet can never do above its original max damage

Good video. I usually run an lmg with deadeye as a perk and it slays it after the first couple kills. Do you know if the penetration hit damage increases at appx the same rate that your normal damage increases with each kill? May have to start running fore grip and AP as my weapon attachments.

For being a spec ops soldier, these cats in game take their sweet ass time reloading those LMG's. As a grunt, myself and other gunners could reload MG's in half that time, a quarter if we were using nutsacks instead of drums. CoD needs to up their realism factor lol.
