I watch DIY videos on a vast amount of projects to get some ideas on what I need/works for me etc. Many of your videos are among my favorites as I am a KISS (Keep It Simple S.....) person and love your "kitchen sink recipes", making a base with many options open to add on whatever you need to fit what you need/like. I added a few drawers, wheels and a spot on the side to hold a foot switch. Please though, never feel like you have to inform people on why you don't have a $1,000 DP. If someone watches this and cares about the name of the DP....screw em'. The rest of us appreciate the work you put in and the help you provide. Brand names and their costs are irrelevant. Thank You

…. lol, I thank you for watching and for your kind words. I agree with you 100%. But, at times, I feel like pushing back a little. There are many who have nothing better to do than to make smart-ass comments. In many cases they make no sense, and if you what your doing it is easy to tell they have no idea of what they are talking about. Platforms like these allow people to hide behind a user name and become self-proclaimed experts. I race and even worked for several NHRA and NASCAR teams as a tool guy (that is, the person who fabricates jigs), and I remember in the early days saving so much money to buy my first SNAP-ON rolling chess just to find out that although it cost me 10X more than my Craftsman, it did not help the tools any better. It was then that I realized you buy what the job calls for... Anything above that is just vanity! Although not the channel's focus, I like to show people you don't have to have a $500K shop like many KZbinrs brag about or the best tools to build some pretty cool things. Once again, thank you!

@@CubanRedneck Living in Fairfax, VA. We are constantly surrounded by vanity, greed and avarice unfortunately. When my son was little he asked "Dad, how much does a Ferrari cost?" I said "the Enzo costs around $1 million" (04-05). He replied "Wow! I am going to have to make a lot of money then". To which I said "Ok but, how would you feel driving a million $ car past homeless and hungry people?". He replied "Ohh...That's true...I will have to feed all the hungry and get homes for all of the homeless people and then buy a Ferrari". I said "If you do that....I will figure out a way to buy you a Ferrari".

Great video, thanks. BTW, I think the most important thing to check on a drill press, cheap or expensive, is the wobble of the chuck. If it is 'loosey goosey', that can mess up your accuracy even if you don't demand real precise holes. So if the Harbor Freight has little or no wobble it is a good deal.

Great point! ... specially if cutting metal. I am more into wood working nowadays. The OEM chuck is not the best but over all satisficed with what I got. Thank you for stopping by!

That and power . Just used a 3 inch hole saw on my and pine was binding it up . but could also be that the bit was the cheap harbor freight ones use couple times then throw away

yep, same budget press here and i get real nasty results that bugger all my work, not as bad as hand drilling but a total regret and the bane of my tool shop.

Thanks for the inspiration. I recently got a belt/disc sander and considered buying a stand to assemble. However, after watching this video I decided to make my own out of scrap wood. Took me only two hours. Just need to order some caster wheels.

Great drill press stand! Love your way of thinking about DIY. Build for your own needs and interests. Don't need a $1000 stand??? then don't get or build one! This is an excellent build. I am buying the exact same drill press from Harbor Freight. Will build a stand just as yours! Thanks!

People aways overlook the slots in the foot of the press and that the power head can swivel. If you make the cabinet front to back deeper, say 6,8 -ish inches and base floor. The hollow created with various straps or clamps mounting for long stock, for end boring long stock by pushing back the press and rotate the head, counter weight in base. Hollow can also store special fences and flat jigs.

…thank you for commenting. I know exactly what you mean. That is a feature found on really big, really expensive drill presses. I build this *drill press stand* with the intention of adding an entire array of features, but I just haven't got to do it. In fact, I have been slacking off on the DIY videos, but I look forward to making it up in early 2022. I am looking to add a live center in the bottom and a X-Y deck with removable insert. Thanks again for commenting, and may you and your family have a wonderful Holiday season!
