Hey! I was just wondering ony any tips for starting? I only know just the standing throw and I only throw 27s hahah, we don't have a throwing coach, and I made a bet with the football coach that I could get to 35 by the end of track season.

for glides, do you want to have a bounce in your wind-up, or do you want it solely static?

I notice you round your back when loading up at the start of your throws, I kept my back flat when I threw in highschool and teach my athletes to do the same , should I let them round there backs when loading up?

I am only a minute in but honestly this is so inspiring to hear. I am a sophmore in highschool and my current PR with the 12lb shot is 45 feet 5 inches. And I keep getting scared that I am really close to hitting a wall, but hearing how quickly and dramatically he increased his throws is really inspiring

I’m a coach way out of my league here. I coach high school and all the videos online make my life so much easier. I never shot put before. I never even had a shot putter on my team when I was on the track team. Thanks for making good quality videos that are easy for me to teach my athletes

Aye Lucas busted his ass to get the marks he’s gotten, I think his work ethic is underrated. I threw with him in South Carolina my Sophmore year and to see where he progressed is crazy. You cant coach that type of hustle.

After playing baseball for for many years since tee ball, my son decided not to do baseball and is going to try throwing at age 16… needs to learn the technique- I may have him try some of the throwing sessions at garage strength. Just subscribed to your channel. Well done.

It seems as if there is an advantage to the long-short technique over the short-long method. With the long-short method, your feet are closer together at the toe-board which allows for more knee bend which allows for a longer use of the legs to push that shot up and out. Check any Brian Oldfield videos. With the short-long method, your feet are too far apart to allow much squatting down to get a jumping push into the shot. So, all you have to accelerate the shot is how fast you can spin or rotate your body around your left leg.

If u can succesfully pull the right foot under theright hip with practice, u will be able to get more power from that short long

Hi Dave, got your excellent Kinetic and Cues and Correction books. It has helped me tremendously to grow as a throwing coach and visualise a sound technical model. Can you elaborate what the difference is between the A drill and the Leif drill? It looks like the athlete starts deeper and remains more right side flexed with the Leif drill? Is that what it is about?

For the stand throw I notice both Jason and Luke’s right foot pops up a little bit before releasing the shot, is that how it’s supposed to be?
@ThrowsUniversity4 жыл бұрын
The foot will pop more in the long short because how wide their stance is and are both shorter gliders. Ideally want long double support, but the goal is to transfer the right side energy into the left side.

Key phrase... "we developed him since he was 17 years old". Lol. Doesn't mean a person can't work at achieving something, but having others around a person and proper training is really the big difference between pro athletes and everyone else. Nobody is throwing that distance without years and years of proper training and development and repetition...
