Excellent points - I’m glad you are going back through and updating your videos - you have a LOT of great content! The grip on the shot is particularly important for HS girls - they throw the 6lb where I am in 7th and 8th.. it is so lite that they can/do throw that 6# like a baseball..

Yes we throw the 6lb here too for girls middle school. Such a tiny shot too. Most girls say it is too small for their hands.

Nice clear video. For starting throwers I teach them to have the shot slightly to the front. Still in the side of the neck though. This puts their hands in front of their shoulder. (Which prevents throwing. eg moving the up and to the side of the shoulder.) Once they get using to the shot they will find their on sweet spot in their neck.

I really appreciate you taking the time to show us tips & techniques on how to never forget the basics. My daughter will be joining track for the first time this year as she's in 7th grade. Do you happen to have stretching techniques, & possibly which workouts can benefit the shot put athletes??
