0:25 Is a sore throat viral or bacterial?
0:53 The best sore throat remedy
2:43 How to stop a sore throat naturally
3:47 Check out my other video on how to reduce a sore throat within about 2 minutes!
Today, I’m going to share the best remedy for a sore throat. In most cases, a sore throat is viral, which means an antibiotic won’t help.
If you have a sore throat caused by a bacterial infection, you may experience nausea or other digestive issues, but it won’t typically cause a cough. If you have a sore throat caused by a virus, you may experience a cough, runny nose, and swelling in the throat.
The good thing is that this natural remedy can help address both areas. The best natural remedy for a sore throat is the bay leaf. Bay leaves have both antiviral properties and antibacterial properties.
Health benefits of bay leaves:
• They help reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation
• They are a great remedy for a cough
• They help stimulate the immune system
• They help reduce mucus
• They help reduce headaches (especially sinus headaches)
• They can act as an insect repellent
• They can help promote wound healing
• They have anti-cancer effects
• They are good for digestive issues
Bay leaves also have an anticholinergic effect, which means they help with:
• An overactive bladder
• Dry mouth
• The inability to sweat
• Constipation
• Vertigo
• Nausea
How to help stop a sore throat naturally
Ingredients:
• 2 bay leaves (fresh or dry)
• 2 cups of water
• Cinnamon to taste
• 5 drops of liquid stevia
Boil the water for 3 minutes. Add the bay leaves to the hot water and steep for 4 minutes. Add a cinnamon stick and the liquid stevia.
Sip this tea throughout the day to soothe the throat, reduce pain and inflammation, help fight pathogens, and help speed up recovery.

So grateful that I already had dried bay leafs and cinnamon sticks in my pantry! Made a cup last night and it IMMEDIATELY relieved soreness. Woke up this morning with a bit of soreness and again made a cup for IMMEDIATE relief. I also noticed that it loosened things up and helped me blow my nose easily. Hallelujah!

I hope I'm doing it the correct way I just came across this video the other day and I'm trying it for the first time right now. I have those fast boil like kettles or whatever you want to call them you press the button fill it up with water and it boils the water really quickly. So I put about three bay leaf in my mug and then I just poured the boiling water over it and I left it for about 5 minutes I also put a cinnamon stick and a tinge of lemon. Do you think that's the correct way like should I stir it or leave it longer or what

I don't know if the V.A. allows Osteopathic doctors, but if they do, I'd see if there's one near you. As a kid, I always had D.O.'s instead of M.D.'s and I know chiropractors and others like Dr. Berg aren't against M.D.'s, but prefer Osteopathic doctors when they need a doctor.

Thank you Dr. Berg! I am making it a goal of mine to not take any pharmaceuticals this year. 1 month down 11 to go! These NATURAL remedies are EXACTLY what I’m looking for! Also my intermittent fasting and the two 48 hour fast I’ve done in the last month helped me lose 10lbs!! 230 to 220. The lightest I’ve been in 20 years!!! Thank you! Edit: 3 months down, 9 to go! And down another 7 lbs.. 213! Edit: 9/16/22 I got my weight down to 211 in July. Summer activities and drinking alcohol got me back up to 216. But holding weight steady. I ended up having kidney stones developing in May. I’ve passed 4 stones. The pain on the first one was bad, but managed without any drugs… not even Tylenol. But they did prescribe me some hydrocodone and flowmax in case it happened again. I did end up taking just one pill of hydrocodone and a flowmax pill to help the second one pass. Then the third one I took two Tylenols. But the fourth was bearable and I didn’t take anything. I’ve managed otherwise to take. Irving… not even allergy pills. I’m making it through the year pretty well I’d say! Next is to drop alcohol all together.

Great video. I love holistic medicine. I'm 46 and my great grandma, who has long passed away, was born dirt poor in rural PA in the 1890s. She had 7 children at home and only ever used holistic healing. She made numerous teas on her cook stove. I remember seeing bay leaves in a bag even though I was a child then. Wish I could go back and learn all her natural teas, poultice and remedies. Thank you Dr Berg.

My grandmother was a healer. I don't know many of her recipes by I know how to make a mustard poultice for chest congestion. Take two tsp of dry mustard and 1/2 cup of flour mix together add enough water to make a paste. Spread it onto one half of a piece of material. My mom always used a t towel. Fold the other side over. Lay it on the patient's chest with a towel on top to keep the heat in. Be careful as you can burn the skin!! Keep it on for 15-20 minutes. It will help a congested chest

I chew fresh bay leaves at least ones a week or especially when I get sick 😷, somehow I had a good feeling about health benefits of bay leaves , heard a lot of good stuff about it. 🤓

Bay leaf is great for acne also. I gave it to my teenage daughter and it cleared her skin. She drunk it without any sweeteners. As well I heard combining it with applying directly as skin tonic speeds up the result. Apparently it all due to its antiinflammatory properties. Thank you Dr Berg! (My phone shows on autocue "Berg" after "Dr") 😄👍

Dr. Berg, could the bay leaves be steeped for even longer? I made this exactly as you described (using dry, organic leaves), but the taste was very mild...wondering if I could safely steep it longer? Thank you for the video!

Wanted to add that in Germany they use thyme for upper respiratory symptoms, etc, and the thyme is steeped for 10 minutes. Did not find any research contradicting a long steep (with bay leaves) so made a 2nd batch that way, felt it was safe. This helps with my child’s throat pain but another coughing fit comes and her throat is raw and painful again 😢
