The key takeaways are: 1. **Acetic Acid is Common in All Vinegars:** Most vinegars, including apple cider, red wine, white, rice, and balsamic, contain similar levels of acetic acid, which contributes to their fat loss benefits by activating AMPK and modulating glucose levels. 2. **Beyond Acetic Acid:** The health benefits of vinegars extend beyond acetic acid to include other compounds like vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, organic acids, and especially polyphenols. 3. **Polyphenols for Fat Loss:** Polyphenols, found in higher concentrations in fruit vinegars, are crucial for their impact on fat loss. Studies suggest that fruit vinegars have significantly higher polyphenols than grain vinegars. 4. **Importance of Vinegar Source and Aging:** The source of the vinegar and whether it is aged in wood are significant factors affecting its properties. Wood-aged vinegars are particularly beneficial. 5. **Antioxidant Profile:** Red grape balsamic vinegar has the highest antioxidant profile, but other vinegars also offer health benefits. 6. **Specific Vinegar Recommendations:** Red or black grape vinegars are highly recommended for their high polyphenol content. Apple cider vinegar and green grape vinegar are also good options. 7. **Unique Vinegar Varieties:** Uncommon vinegars like strawberry and dark chocolate vinegar have even higher levels of polyphenols. 8. **Choosing the Right Vinegar:** When selecting a vinegar for health and fat loss, consider its aging process, source, and polyphenol content. Darker, fruit-based vinegars aged in wood are generally the best choices. 9. **Apple Cider Vinegar's Role:** While apple cider vinegar is effective and popular, exploring other types of vinegars can offer additional health benefits and potentially better support for weight management goals. Right before I plate them I add a handful of cilantro, toss it around. Once on the plate, I add clumps of goats milk cheese, and sprinkle red wine vinegar all over. @@toekneet.9455 I don't stick to the same dose or item. I started off by drinking heavily diluted apple cider vinegar (roughly half a teaspoon) before eating a meal. But then bought some betaine HCL and had one tablet halfway between my evening meal with water. I now have a cod liver oil capsule in the morning about an hour before eating. I stopped with my vitamin C because it has calcium carbonate in it which is alkaline. This helped me get my digestive system moving and digesting food which didn't digest properly before. I also take a broad spectrum digestive enzyme capsule occasionally which also helps. I am certain this kind of treatment is working for me but It may not work for others.

I like vinegars. I've enjoyed small amounts of apple cider vinegar mixed into various beverages including teas, red wine, and just plain water. It adds a nice tang. My degree in biochemistry raises a few questions: 1). Our stomach is full of high strength hydrochloric acid, and the rest of our GI track neutralizes the acidity coming from the stomach. Presumably deactivating the vinegars ingested. 2) our body operates at a very highly controlled Ph, deviations are quickly corrected via our pace of breathing. Literally breathing faster raises the blood’s ph and holding your breath lowers it (more acidic). I truly believe the popular acidification/alkaline health crazy is profoundly flawed and exploits people looking for health benefits. The benefits of polyphenols and other organic molecules should be studied, keeping in mind human bodies have been taking care of themselves for thousands of years despite the abuse we inflict on them…. Snake oils and the people that push them deserve scrutiny.

What about the effects it has on enzmes release or the gut microbiome?
@monnoo8221 Жыл бұрын
yes, you are right about most things incl the acid/base craze, which they always mix up. And yes, acetic acid gets neutralized throughout the gi tract. he pH is not at high values, it is 7.4 +- 0.02, but tightly regulated, mostly due to the need to bind and shed CO2, the physical chemistry of breathing. But what does "neutralization" mean? It is just attaching a proton back into the acetcarboxyl molecule from some other molecule. whether the proton is attached or split off, the rest / frame of the molecule stays the same. And, btw, it is also a short chain fatty acid. The microbiom loves it, your metabolism loves it, your brain loves it. Now, why is it relevant to introduce acids into your body? Acids are acid because they shed of a proton. Meaning you will have additional protons available. This comes in quite handy to neutralize reactive oxygen species, which are all negatively charge. providing the body with external acid means that the body does not need to make them, which is costly in terms of energy. It also leaves anions as remainders which can lead to ROS. That's basically the significance of eating more sour things than those stuff, which consumes acids due to its chemistry (starch)
@jamesbarlow6243 Жыл бұрын
The acid-base cycle is the back and forth exchange of a +(H)Hydrogen atom with a -(OH) hydroxyl group. It’s a fundamental part of basic chemistry. Our body doesn’t need our conscious “help” keeping this balance, nor does it benefit from things being acidic or basic in nature that we ingest. The nutrients included/attached to these acids/bases is what our body is designed to extract ( again without our endless search for needless interventions..)
@fifthycharaktersforaqualit7468 Жыл бұрын
@@monnoo8221So correct me if I am wrong what you are saying is by consumption of Vinegar you get short chain fatty acids via diguestion which are good for the gut microbiome/brain and metabolism , the vinegar also functions as a anti oxidant, not to mention the other secondary plant compounds.

It not being in an amber glass bottle can matter though, when I heard that I remembered a brand called Eden or something like that which comes in a glass amber bottle but is aged in wood staves, so maybe not a barrel too but aged in wood one way or another. You can actually taste the wood in that and I always liked it better, but Bragg's was a little less expensive and looked like it had more mother in it(could just be sediment too which isn't bad) but now I know the mother is pretty overrated TBH. EDIT: It's called Eden Foods and it says wood casks, I'll have to see if they still have it. I'm thinking it might be aged longer too which would explain noticing the wood flavor and I've always thought it seemed smoother too.

I don't think so because you can have double fermentation. I.e. grape to alcohol and then acetous fermentation whereas the wine probably has sugar added for acetous fermentation and tends to be more acidic. Not sure of the nuances between the two in regard to what's maintained or beneficial but i'd probably opt for the one that is made from plain grape juice or musk.

What about water kefir? Can you evaluate this product? It turns into vinegar if you let it sit too long.
@BadWolf-bw6ik9 ай бұрын
Water kefir can potentially turn into vinegar if left to ferment for an extended period, especially if the fermentation conditions are favorable for acetic acid-producing bacteria to thrive. These bacteria can convert the alcohol produced during the initial fermentation process into acetic acid, resulting in a vinegar-like liquid. However, unlike traditional vinegars, water kefir vinegar may have a milder flavor profile and contain a broader range of beneficial bacteria and yeast strains due to its initial fermentation with water kefir grains. The exact flavor and characteristics of water kefir vinegar can vary depending on factors such as fermentation time, temperature, and the composition of the kefir grains. As for specific benefits of water kefir vinegar: Probiotics: Like water kefir itself, water kefir vinegar may contain beneficial probiotic bacteria and yeast strains that can support gut health and digestion when consumed. Acetic Acid: Water kefir vinegar, like other vinegars, contains acetic acid, which may have various health benefits, including supporting blood sugar control, promoting weight loss, and aiding in digestion. Nutrient Content: Water kefir vinegar may retain some of the nutrients present in the original water kefir, such as vitamins, minerals, and organic acids, although the exact nutrient content can vary depending on the fermentation process and duration. Potential Uses: Water kefir vinegar can be used in a variety of culinary applications, including salad dressings, marinades, sauces, and beverages. It can add tanginess and flavor to dishes while potentially providing some of the health benefits associated with vinegar consumption. Overall, water kefir vinegar can be a flavorful and potentially beneficial addition to your diet, particularly if you enjoy fermented foods and beverages. However, as with any homemade fermented product, it's essential to monitor the fermentation process carefully to prevent spoilage and ensure food safety.

How can anyone stand the taste if ACV? It makes me want to vomit every time i try to ingest it.
@BrilloHead4 ай бұрын
Same here. I feel it's an acquired taste. Even when diluted, it doesn't smell good or taste good. Just tastes sour and yucky, as most fermented beverages do.

How can red grape vinegars be healthy when they contain sulfites?

Yeah, good point. And most brands have sulfites in them to act as preservatives.

As it's the New Year, wondering if the acid content in champagne has any benefits.

I need to gain weight. My mom actually. She looks like holocaust survivor for some yet unknown reason. It can be anything from inflamed stomach to cancer of course. Should I use gainers with flax seed oil and EAA? MCT maybe? She doesnt want to eat enough. Swallowing seems difficult but she says that it's ok.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Just getting a whiff of it doesn't entice me to want to swallow it.

@@BrilloHead not a fan of salad dressing, pickled anything…. Etc.
@BrilloHead4 ай бұрын
@@mommaoinnh2674 I do like pickles in my chicken burger. As for salad dressings, I have not had them for a long time. So I don't know if I will like it or not. I know that I definitely dislike ranch dressing. My father would force me to eat ranch dressing inside a sandwich when I was a little boy and I would cringe with every bite because I hated ranch. From that day, I would never eat anything that has ranch ever again. Anyone that offers me ranch flavor chips or ranch anything I would straight up refuse them. That's how much I detest ranch.

@@BrilloHead lol. I also like pickles in pasta salad, ham salad and on a burger!

Haha! This came up right after I watched one of his video on how awesome ACV is and when is the next time to take it. 😂 So right after that I hear him say “All these people say you should take ACV . . . but . . . “. Sorry, that was just funny because HE was that other person for me today.
