The ratings have been plummeting week on week, but this was it. The moment when Lizzo and Jack Black showed up on the Mandalorian is the moment this show finally died.

@@TheAcad3mic I won/read most of the Legends. Sure there were some issues, similar to issues the Prequels raised. Lucas/Lucasfilm kept some involvement so you can see the guidance. And they had a couple of people working on continuity issues. So they at least felt in universe, even if there were mistakes. Disney does everything wrong and then screws up even more. All these famous cameos are cringe stunts, fanboy self inserts the completely take me out of the story. (which is easy because there is no story there) My head canon stays with Lucasfilm to the day George sold the franchise.

@@jasonkiefer1894 I'm blindly trekking through legends and, as fucking weird as it can be, it feels like Star Wars. Right now, I'm playing through the Dark Forces series and it's amazing. Great gameplay, solid stories (I wouldn't say they're groundbreaking), and really immerses you into the Star Wars galaxy even if it was made in a time before the prequel movies or later lore (Jedi Knight 2 was made two years before Episode 1, so it's very vague about the Jedi order before Ep 4).

For me the most astonishing thing about Star Wars is how the hell an IP that was already crumbling down since 1983(!) has spurred sooooo much garbage for 40 years and counting. I can understand Star Strek, which produced TOS, TOS movies, TNG, DS9, in a span of 30+ years, but Star Wars? Shieeeet

Here's the thing. Jack Black has a very established humour brand attached to his face. When I saw his face in one excerpt from the series, I automatically assumed it came from a spoof, like something straight out of a late-night show taking the piss out of Star Wars. It's completely off brand for Star Wars to use a face like Jack Black for this. Hell Samuel Jackson has a big personality and even he took it down almost to the point of being boring just to fit Lucas' vision. And you know what? You don't see Samuel Jackson in Star Wars, you see Mace Windu. You can't do that with someone like Jack Black or Lizzo, especially when they look exactly like they do in other appearances.

I wouldn't even argue he had a great arc (on account of him blowing up the facility full of soldiers he felt moderately sorry for, excluding his former commander). For the first two seasons I was blown away by how great the series was. It felt like 'movie quality' to me. Now every episode varies from good to okay. There were some great scenes, some enjoyable characters, and occasional hints of good things to come, but then the characters' difficulties are wrapped up too easily and neatly with a bow. And the overall story of Din and Grogu seems to have lost its momentum because of too many subplots that turn out to be dead ends. I keep hoping that the Mandalorian will get back on track. Otherwise, there was never a reason why Grogu can use the force, and happens to be the same species as Yoda, beyond tapping fan emotions.

This was the episode that finally convinced me that everyone involved has lost their way. Grogu is an accessory. His fate doesn't matter anymore. The bond between Din and Grogu doesn't matter anymore. Worse still they've made the entire retaking of Mandalore story boring. The joke used to be that Din's back must be sore for carrying the entire Star Wars universe on it. Well I guess they finally broke it. Character arcs be damned so sure, lets take our noble lead and show how violently unhinged he is towards droids. Did we not spend a few episodes where he was stubbornly refusing to give up on resurrecting a droid he respected? All of this done in service of building up Bo Katan to be the more rationale partner? This is some grade A MCU level screwing over the lead to prop up the female character.

The problem with the Mandolorian is that it was a cool concept, but didn't actually have a story to tell, and it shows. After the initial happy surprise of a cool looking dude with a cute sidekick, it became clear that they didn't actually know where they wanted to go with the story. They did side quest after side quest with very little overarching story so besides the pretty facade, there's nothing to latch onto.

I think part of the issue for the Mandalorian was that they gave Dave Filoni too much writing power, and he just wanted to throw in all his animation series characters. That said Season 2 of The Mandalorian was at least "Cammeo of the Week" and then a full meet up towards the finale. They were mostly single episode story arcs, now they seem like they are mainstay's. Which is ironic, since what made the Mandalorian so great was how it was derivative of Star Wars, without actually using a whole lot of established characters.

My theory: Cara Dune was supposed to be more integral to the S3 story. So when Gina Carano got canned for absolutely nothing, they had to hastily rewrite not only S3 but also Book of Boba Fett and the only thing they could think to do was bring back Grogu.

@@iamtherealrauschguy The main story arc of S3 has plenty of opportunities for some great Star Wars. The problem isn't that it got stretched too thin, the problem is that their writers are shit. Grogu got pushed back in but he's less than filler at this point. They could actually do what they did with Rogue One and Andor except in reverse order: have the series establish the main characters and the story line, and instead of a lackluster S4, have a movie where they lead up to retaking Mandalor.

I always assumed that Carano's firing delayed Mando s3 and led to part of s3 being put in Boba Fett. And yeah it's possible she was also going to be in Boba and they had to find something else to replace her last minute. That'd help explain why the Boba series was such a mess.

Bo Katan and Ahsoka were interesting in Clone Wars but Ahsoka I feel didn’t have anything to do do post clone wars and should’ve kicked it off screen or maybe been a new teacher at Luke’s *after* the war. As for Bo Katan this series fails to acknowledge her part in the rise of Death Watch and her attempt to usurp the thrown of her sister, as well as that ridiculous helmet rule. If Pre Viszla could freely remove his helm I see no reason why his followers made up this rule about being seen helmet-less.

@@doopdoopdopdop7424 Disney shot themselves in the foot with the sequel trilogy, They want their representation and strong female characters but don't put in the work. Ashoka was an actual character that was properly developed during the clone wars but the big problem is All roads lead down one path. Luke dying and the Jedi order being destroyed and mary sue ray being one of the last jedi in the galaxy and the new grand master of the order. Any character that is related to Lukes Jedi order has to die and Disney can't afford to kill them off as Grogu is the only thing thats actually profitable from star wars. As for Bo Katan, anyone who watches The clone wars will instantly dislike her for her part in the death of Satine and her indirect assistance in helping Palpatine. During the last 3 seasons, She has made no effort to change or redeem herself nor as the show shown anything either. In fact its done the opposite, she gets everything handed to her with no real struggle or effort put in, meanwhile Grogu who should have been training with luke is back and mando is getting dumber and feels less skilled with each epsode. Outside of the clone wars, the old republic and some of the games, i have absolutely no interest in star wars and i don't really care if the franchise dies but man it has to be embarrassing for disney when star wars, the greatest franchise in "nerd culture" has been relegated to a tv show on a streaming service.

Your comment is quite peculiar. The whole 'Star Wars' universe *started* as a children's show. That's why George Lucas took a pay cut in exchange for money from merchandising, merchandise that was made *for children!* Lucas knew exactly what type of movies he was making. Now because the kids have grown up, but haven't *grown out* of the 'Star Wars' saga, and are griping about a supposedly "childish" show, says it all. It's a serious detachment from reality. If you still like watching 'Star Wars' stuff, fine, but don't expect anything other than a children's story.

Every time Grogu “jumps” he looks like what he probably is - a prop puppet being tossed around on set. Anyway, I was hoping to see less Grogu, more bounty hunting.
