I hate kyber crystal bleeding. I hated it when they retconned it and I hate it now. They pulled the sci out of my fi. They had all the magic they needed with the force, and felt they needed more magic. I live by the old cannon and treat them as less stable synthetic crystals. Also, the lens was broken and there was no emitter between the crystal and the aperture. That lightsaber shouldn't work at all. If the power cell, emitter, or lens is broken the saber fails to ignite.

personally i think it's all just stupid. Sith use red because it's intimidating, that's the only logic you need. @@laparka1138 to add to this, it also reflects how they use the force on a fundamental level too, the jedi guided by the force to their crystals, having to give themselves to the will of the force while sith make their own using sith alchemy, forcing their own will upon the force to produce their crystals rather than this edgy garbage where they subject a crystal to cringe emo posts made by 14 year olds or whatever to get it to "bleed"
@patrickthomas2119
@patrickthomas2119 4 ай бұрын
I hate the bleeding lightsaber crap; I always preferred the explanation that the color came from the crystal they put in it and that sith used synthetic crystals (rather then going and searching for them) and because they are synthetic and not natural they just always came out red. That explains why lightsabers don't change colors depending on who is holding them. the 'bleeding effect' I always hated. And I believe that predates Disney.
4 ай бұрын
Also the synth crystals even reinforces the whole Sith/Darkside being an easier path, the more tempting path to take, because you can get things without having to work for it.
@patrickthomas2119
@patrickthomas2119 4 ай бұрын
Exactly. It is the quicker and easier way to just make a crystal instead of having the patience and discipline to have to find one. The synthetic crystal explanation is just so Much more practical and fitting. The bleeding effect comes across like some Shallow melodrama. In fact it is the most annoying explanation I can think of as to why the sith color is always red.

I feel bad for Star Wars Theory, someone made a good point that while the prequels were bad there were a lot of different things that people like Theory could speculate on or make theories about. Disney leaves almost zero room for anything cool, almost as if they took any expectations or possibly of fun and subverted it all like multiplying everything by zero. So sad to hear about Bob Newhart. Growing up in the Seventies I had no idea who he was until Johnny Walker, lunchtime DJ on Radio 1, started playing short clips from his records (in the days long before CDs and VCRs, when the only way to hear classic stand up was on 12" vinyl) and I laughed so hard I couldn't eat my lunch. Heroes have been a constant in every society. The closest comparison to the current trend is the movies of the 70s, where the gritty anti-hero was king. However, it motivated the likes of Stallone to create the everyman hero of Rocky (who shows that you can pull yourself out of the muck, even if just to show the world your own worth by rising to a personal challenge) and Lucas to create Star Wars, which was itself a throwback to the heroic shows and films of his youth. Be patient; people will always call out for a hero and hopefully one will rise…

I basically grew up with Toy story, I watched 1 and 2 as a kid and 3 as an adult and man, the third one made me cry like a bitch. Andy giving his toys to Bonnie and Playing with them one last time before moving on with his life, and it didn't damage 2, it made Stinky Pete a better Villian, He was RIGHT about toys kids growing up and leaving them and his childhood behind, but it wasn't all doom and gloom like he made it out to be, its bittersweet. they were there for Andy's highs and lows and they got to watch the boy they looked after grow into a man who didn't need them anymore and gifted them to someone who did. it was so rounded and beautiful and then they completely fucked it up with 4 to the point I refuse to watch it.

I kinda outgrew Pixar once I got to about maybe 12. Idk why, I guess I just discovered by that age that those films weren't for me anymore or something. However, Toy Story 1-3 and the various holiday-themed Toy Story short-films have such a deep-rooted nostalgia for me, and I could rewatch those films forever and never hate them. Idk why those films are the only Pixar films I can still tolerate as an adult, but they are some of the best "kids" films out there, imo. The third one always makes me cry like a little bitch too. Every time I rewatch it, I try to hold those tears back so I don't embarrass myself in front of other people, but it never works lmao (I'm also a 25yo man, for context). Another fun fact, though, is that when Tetsuya Nomura was finally allowed to make a Toy Story world in the series... Pixar's condition was that it was a new scenario, and that it could be canon to the Toy Story series. Which ended up being more consistent character-wise than Toy Story 4.

After all the stories coming out about the PDFiles at Disney between the shooting and release Lesbian Headlamp was told to ditch that storyline and she came up with the shipper storyline where a lesbian is staring at a naked older man with her predatory gaze and holding his throbbing red lightsaber… it would explain why it seems like Torbin’s story is missing an episode or more of buildup and if his love was unrequited why he was willing to bubble himself

At what point does Disney just skip over the step of even making a show and just gaslight everyone that: "Oh man, what an absolute masterpiece of an episode again!", "The ratings are through the roof!" and "Even Rottentomatoes audience score is 100%!" Why not just lie about there even being a show? They can spam the world with articles about the show being a success and just launder the money...no wait, ah yes, that wouldn't work...

To this panels credit, I didn’t watch a single episode of the show and know exactly how shit it is. I’ve been watching Theory for years for Star Wars content and when that man takes a Death Star sized dump on The Acolyte, I’m probably not missing out on anything. So speaking to Jay’s point about the producers making content to piss us off, if viewers like myself refuse to watch the show and bring my time to channels like this one, they’ll continue to lose money and we continue to have quality entertainment.

Around 45:00 it would be really interesting to read a story one of the panel would write using the characters as they appear in the show - no major behavior alterations. What genre could you use? I can't imagine anything but comedy. With real, compelling storytelling techniques, however, it might be in some other genre, with an architecture of tragic pathos.

12:10 Theory with the plug 😂 but seriously though, those lightsabers were so needlessly thick. people have been making high quality dueling sabers with excellent lighting and dueling capabilities for years. It's not like they didn't have the money. Reading what Leslye said about what she thought of lightsabers (being Phallic) and the extreme close-ups looking down the shaft; I think it was a deliberate choice to have them so thick.

Headland wouldn't be circling the wagons practically begging people to watch season 1 if the second season was baked in. The viewership just falling into streaming no-mans land was too much. After ep5 The Acolyte doesn't even chart with original productions. This thing is DONE, take it to the bank.

Not only didn't the lightsaber turning red make any sense, but also when it broke it looked like the crystal moved and cracked. Which from what I understand, probably should have led to the type of problems that can cause it to explode. I mean the reason they gave for Kylo Ren's lightsaber having the cross beams is that the crystal was cracked. Yet this broken lightsaber works perfectly fine.

The discussion on the need for hero's and what people replace them with when they are all gone reminded me of the famous Nietzsche quote. “God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. Yet his shadow still looms. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives; who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it? Put simply if we remove a need for someone or something to aspire to and put ourselves at the centre of our own morality we become God and can justify whatever horrific morality we create. Sound familiar?

In terms of the desecration of heroes... someone will supply them. It just won't be Disney, Marvel, or Star Wars. Whether it's Harry Potter, Vi from Arcane, or Luffy from One Piece, kids will still find heroes because someone is going to supply them and they're going to be rewarded for doing so. And I'm good with that. It's sad to see the heroes I grew up with torn down, but I'm not super concerned about the kids because there will always be heroes. They just won't be mine. And that's okay. Luffy, in fact, might be one of the best heroes for kids today. He's unapologetically good and driven and caring. He accomplishes great things by having dreams and sheer will, despite all obstacles, while also respecting others' dreams and ideas.

13:20 What are we supposed to make of Darth Plagueis, peering ominously around a corner, unexplained, barely visible? The same thing we concluded from Gollum in the first LOTR, peering ominously around a corner, unexplained, barely visible. "This is a character for season 2 and if you are familiar with the genre you know who he is." But we could ALSO conclude that Ms. Headland could have introduced him in a dozen other ways without copying LOTR.
