I LOVED Small Things Like These when I read it last month - and it was definitely made better for reading it in the cold season.

The government's behaviour in Celeste Ng's novel sounds like a revisit of the racist American and Canadian laws against Chinese and Japanese immigrants in the early 20th century, sadly not in the distant future - just part of our racist history (I'm Japanese Canadian and studied Canadian and American history and Asian North American literature) :(

I just finished reading Lavender House by Lev AC Rosen and thoroughly enjoyed it! I was happy to see a sequel is coming out in 2023 :D

Omg you need to go and watch some of the older series of Bake Off, some absolute classics in the mix! There is high drama involving a baked Alaska!

Our Missing Hearts is one I've seen all over but never heard what it's actually about, and wow. Think I need to pick this one up

I strongly recommend One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle! It's focused on a mother/daughter relationship and it has time travel!

The very fact that I now place a click and collect order for my work AND leave my wallet in the car when I go to work before watching your videos both annoys and amuses me. You're a terrible influence on my book buying restraint and my bank account is screaming at me to be far more responsible than I am after watching your videos 🤣🤣🤣 I lie to myself and say that reading is a healthy and educational past time but we all know it's an addiction and I need help haha.

I also have really loved celeste ng in the past but everyone seems a lot more lukewarm about our missing hearts unfortunately :/ which makes me hesitant. I have heard amazing things about small things like these and didn't know it was christmassy either D: The jenny bayliss book break vlog sounds wonderful will have to go and watch it! I have a different bayliss book which I need to get around to at some point!

I think that Jeans Bookish Thoughts has mentioned that Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is both fantastical and comedic. Maybe it's worth checking out?
