Fresh off Black Veil Brides’ release of the new single Bleeders, Andy shares his thoughts about how to break the mold in modern music promotion without giving into the TikTok driven era. Johnny shares how Andy’s infamous awards speak made “here’s the thing” a staple phrase in Avenged Sevenfold’s camp. With Johnny’s band newly into free agency, he is able to hear Andy’s experiences with it, which leads to why signing with Spinefarm seems to be the best label to help BVB make comic book themed records and musical themed EP’s. We also learn why Sweeney Todd is so influential for Andy as an artist. And what episode would be complete with a joke around OJ Simpson?
We learn how friend of the show, Blasko, was the brains behind BVB’s collaboration with the American Red Cross to help with blood donations. Andy is right: Andy's changed in many good ways after his "Andy Sixx" days, and his guitarists have become very impressive from a technical standpoint, but their music still does kinda blow. BvB went from doing derivative anthem metalcore aimed at 10 year old wannabes appropriating the scene to making "omg epic" stale repetitive movie trailer anthems for would-be tik tok tweens that predictably don't know what to grow into. He's cool though. I'm sure they're all great people now. but Sweeney Todd themed metalcore EP? That's exactly what you'd expect from them, and it makes my stomach turn. While A7x is riding 10 different genres and writing veiled lyrics about the inherently corrupt genuine ancient yahwist paradigm, these dudes are always on some "I want to make a super dark Teen Titans Raven rated R metalcore record 10% verse 90% hook" bullshit. I'm fairly sure that when this dude talks about being Misfits and Kiss, he's talking about Michael Graves Misfits too. Michael Graves Misfits is exactly the type of insipid, thoughtless derivative music that BvB embodies in juxtaposition to what everyone like me actually wants to hear, which is Danzig Misfits. But to the BvB fan, Michael Graves Misfits sounds the same but newer or better.
